I've always wondered how the designs are chosen. Pace? Kompany? Retail manager?
Anyone know?
I’d love to know the answer to this. I’d imagine Umbro work up a set of designs, then the players/manager decide which ones. They have to wear them.
I personally think FAB should be involved. Or, better yet, the candidate designs put to a fan vote. Pluck the most popular = increased sales.
It’s rubbish that concept kits are often way better than what the professionals produce. This years are a real disappointment given we’re back in the Prem & hoping to give a different image.
Let’s hope the 3rd is okay and we never wear that monstrosity.

It seems whenever the new kits come out it instantly identifies who can accept/embrace moving with the times and who is stuck steadfast in the past...........granted a change isn't always good but some on here are petrified when it's not safe and predictable.
But it's sure as hell makes entertaining reading

Are the shorts to go with it the ones next to it or are they the home?
I'm getting confused with colours now. The home are the light blue aren't they? Someone is colour blind if they are putting navy with that shirt.

The previous Retail Manager designed the kits and worked with Umbro. They then have to be presented to the manager for their approval.

Zoom in and the stripe is black/Claret/black. I’d have preferred just a Claret stripe but there are far worse out there.

Would have been nice with a claret and blue stripe. Like a lot of others cannot get past it being a Watford shirt at the moment.

I like it except for the sponsor. The big W with the yellow triggers ‘Watford’ in my brain.

I wish the club would redo the white away kit the season we got into Europe. Think that’s my all time favourite away kit

Not sure I ever really get this line of thought. If a thread is started specifically about the away kit, do we only post positive opinions on it due to our league position? It’s not a scathing review of the way the club is being run to say ‘that stripe down the side on the new top isn’t for me’.

First look (of a clearly abysmal quality photo) is it not meant to be like a rip down the shirt to demonstrate that we're claret through and through despite the away colour above?
Or I could be talking nonsense.

If it goes down the back too, it will make the players look like they’re falling in two.

Not a stain that’s a sash and will have consistent width from top to bottom.

More football shirts should be like this.
Any design that puts adults of wearing them when not playing football should be applauded. There are millions and millions of different items of clothing adults can wear, leave the let's all dress the same to geordies

Yes I did think if you replaced the black with blue and the shorts were predominantly blue with claret or the other way round it would be more Burnley
With the home shorts being blue it’d have to be claret as the main colour but I would, like many, have liked white home shorts

Too much moaning on this thread. I like a claret and yellow combo… always makes me think of the “justice” equaliser at Brighton , Dwight’s worldie at Goodison and Lowton’s at Palace. It’s fine by me.

I think the biggest take away for me from that piece is the inflation busting price rises on a lot of shirts. Absolutely ridiculous to be ripping off supporters like that, who clubs know are a captive market. They need to be careful they don’t shoot the goose that laid the golden egg though, where I live I see more and more kits for the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, etc. I even saw a kid wearing a top from Ronaldo’s Saudi club the other day. All bought off the internet (probably mostly not official merchandise) but significantly cheaper than an official Premier League shirt.

There is the claret stripe, but you wouldn’t call that the second colour of the kit considering from the pic, the shorts appear to be black
If they had gone without the black trim and/or used claret shorts it would look a lot less Watford

The cost of a Manchester City adult shirt is around £80
The cost of an Accrington Stanley adult shirt is £40.
Same manufacturing process.
Same materials.
Ridiculous prices.

I’ll reserve final judgement until seen it in the flesh but so far I think it’s alright and potentially pretty good. Quite like the single stripe look as a rule. Can never please everyone but maybe one or two got a bit carried away with early responses based on the tapering effect of the fold over.

Be interesting to see what colour they do the massive dude-whatever logo on the kids shirts. Clearly the yellow of the home shirt isn’t going to work.

This will probably end up being known colloquially as the '5hit stain shirt', a bit like the old 'bird 5hit shirt'.
Each to their own - I loved all three of last years and to some on here they were awful. End of the day, it's just a shirt! I hope the third kit is more appealing to my own tastes or I won't be getting one this season I don't think (or at least until I see what the home one is like in the flesh anyway).

It’s ok. A long way from being our worst ever away shirt like some are saying, IMO.
