Sad news. Best known for her cover of the Prince song Nothing Compares 2 U but personally loved her song Mandinka.

RIP Sinead.

Tragic. Sure she lost her son around a year ago who was only around 17 I think.

That is sad news.

Fantastic voice - I’ve always loved Nothing Compares to You. One of those songs that takes me back to ‘discos’ as a young teen that always ended with a slow song and the opportunity for a ‘smooch’ with one of the birds (can I still say that?)

RIP

Oh no. Gutted.

RIP Sinead.

As others have said, a very troubled life but my word what a voice she had. She was one of those singers who made you feel what she felt when you heard her sing.

Off topic but remember in high school first few weeks we all took turns to read the register to get to know each other, I had to read it out and there was a girl called Sinead. I’d never seen or heard this name in my life before and read it out as SIN HEAD to the laughter and amusement of my classmates.

Was only talking about her with my daughter last weekend when we were in Greenwich - re her duetting with Christy Moore on this "Sweet Thames" version. She looked really sweet & at peace on this but clearly had a disturbed upbringing and troubled life.
RIP Sinead.

The film about her released last year titled "Nothing Compares To You" is excellent viewing and reveals to an extent why she'll always be considered a troubled soul

Literally just read about it. Stunned. As people have said a troubled soul who had a hard life but still put others first. Ireland has lost a massive icon.
