Forest fans thought Muric was pants and were laughing at us after we signed him.
Many of us thought Conor Roberts was a bit of a dud and not up to it - how wrong were we?
Point is, certain managers can see things that others can’t and can also get a tune out of players when others cant.
Vinny did this with Tella - it was pretty clear to see.

The fact they've both spent there careers playing at the top level.
Problem with Tella is he's 24 with not much experience by the time he gets to that level he might not have much profit margin to sell on IF he ever did reach those levels, personally from what I've seen I don't believe he ever will despite last season's form

Because he isn't for sale, Southampton have in effect put a price on his head that any club must meet in order to sign him. Southampton have insisted all along that they don't need to sell him & would like to keep him.bumba wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 7:14 amWe as a club obviously don't believe he is worth that sort of money or we'd of paid it months ago and.despite his success last season(and last season only) there doesn't seem to be any other clubs in world football that believe he is worth that sort of money or are chasing him does there

Any club wanting to inflate the price that thinks we'd go to that price to pay it will ask for mega bucks, Southampton will be kicking themselves after this season because I doubt they'll ever get the money we've offered put on a plate for them againJakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 7:21 amBecause he isn't for sale, Southampton have in effect put a price on his head that any club must meet in order to sign him. Not if he helps them get promoted like he did with us they won't be, there's an element of risk attached but the value of promotion outweighs the risk of letting him go for what we are prepared to pay.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I would suggest that Tella will be a Burnley player. If not in this transfer window then the next in January.

I have no idea what the truth is whether we are or aren’t trying to sign Tella but I’m genuinely taken aback at some of the scepticism about his ability and value for money on here. His pace, deadly finishing and fantastic pressing was absolutely key for us last season. I’d love to have him back.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think most people are just questioning whether £15m is good value for a player unproven at Premier League level. Tella was indeed very good for us last season but so were other Burnley players who previously didn’t cut it in the top flight. We don’t know if he will cut it in the Premier League, and there appears to be a lack of interest from other top flight clubs which suggests our competitors share the same concerns.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 9:55 amI have no idea what the truth is whether we are or aren’t trying to sign Tella but I’m genuinely taken aback at some of the scepticism about his ability and value for money on here. As a comparison the general mood around the Redmond signing seems pretty underwhelming. But the fact of the matter is he’s proven at this level and it would be hard to argue that Tella is the better player.

Foster was signed last season so probably not the best comparison. If we don’t meet Southampton’s asking price for Tella that is because the relevant people at the club don’t think he’s worth it. The same people obviously thought that Amdouni was.Dodobdobodobo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 10:15 amBut we pay 13/15mil for two unknown quantities in Foster and Amdouni![]()

McNally to either Coventry or Ipswich, by the looks of it. Hope we get a decent free for him if true. I wonder if we’ve got one under wraps for the midfield role we need a little like we did with Amdouni, it’s been very quiet on that front .

True, but like most things in life you can't guarantee he'd carry on that again at a higher level, the PL defenders are a different breed altogether & wouldn't be as generous allowing him to do the things we know he's good at.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 9:55 amI have no idea what the truth is whether we are or aren’t trying to sign Tella but I’m genuinely taken aback at some of the scepticism about his ability and value for money on here. For those who have seen O'Shea playing so far, he seems to be doing well. Is he more of a right back who can play centre half? Or is it the other way round?

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Definitely the other way around - VK sees him as a centre half based on the last two friendly games (I use the word friendly loosely!).
I’ve been really impressed with O’Shea from the streams I watched. His passing into midfield has been the highlight for me and it’s clear why we’ve bought him. He’s probably the replacement for Harwood-Bellis in that respect.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
O’Shea is definitely a centre back but can be utilised elsewhere. He’s looked a good buy in what little I’ve seen so far.
Going to be interesting who gets left out of the 25 man squad if we are to bring in another 4/5 players before the end of the window.
For me the 25 looks like this so far (+u21s)
(Trafford)
Muric
Vigaroux
Roberts
Vitinho
O’Shea
Beyer
Ekdal
(Al-Dakhil)
Taylor
New
Cullen
Bronwhill
Cork
New
Twine
JBG
Redmond
Amdouni
Benson
Zaroury
Larsen
(Koleosho)
Townsend?
Rodriguez
Weghorst
Foster
Tella?/New
For me I’d rather us get two central midfield players in which means we’d have to lose one from that squad straight away. I wonder if we will see some departures that we didn’t necessarily expect ?

Koleosho, looked very quick, and not afraid of getting stuck in either . Got some skills, I think VK will use him from the bench this season but not put too much pressure on him.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
there was a thread with a Spanish guy/fan/reporter somewhere earlier this week and he reckoned he would be in and out of the team given his lack of experience and age. I think that's probably going to be accurate but not many players in out team can leave Hector Bellerin for dust like he did last night ! Given the fact we can have 9 on the bench I would imagine that's where he will find himself most games, he's clearly not going to be an U23 playerNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 1:39 pmSo after yesterday how much does everyone see Koleoshi (think that’s how it’s spelt) playing this season?

Been impressed so far. Solid defending and very cool on the ball. His line breaking passing has been very much in the THB mould. Can see him starting at first.
Very encouraging, looks to have the physicality for the first team already. I can see him being used off the bench a bit unless we go and sign the likes of Tella.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 1:39 pmSo after yesterday how much does everyone see Koleoshi (think that’s how it’s spelt) playing this season?

Expect he’ll be used as super sub this year when defenders are getting tired.
What a prospect though at the £3m muted. Wish we could find some midfielders and LBs that look as accomplished as him at £3m!
