To be fair, Andy Jones does say Lokonga isn't seen as a priority - not that CM isn't seen as a priority.

Some of that contradicts what respected journos were reporting yesterday. Quite a few Arsenal beat writers have reported Lokonga deal close this afternoon.

I do wonder if with all the 'wingers' we signed are allegedly chasing there's an intention to utilise some in midfield; they'll certainly be pacey.

They just need them to substitute Benny and Zaroury without quality loss. What if they are unavailable for some reason... In the Premier League you need more squad depth especially on the wings. On top of that Benson and Zaroury aren't exactly physical phenomena that are able to give the same performance for 90 minutes every week or twice a week. Need some rotation and Zaroury can be out for international duty too with Africa cup and what not.

There are still rumours that a dal for Tresor may still be on the cards and talks are ongoing. If Maatsen is a no-go then are we going to rely on Taylor and Vitinho or is a deal on anywhere for LB's ?

I can't imagine that Kompany would rely on Vitinho and Taylor who are bench players at best. His system really thrives with fullbacks good on the ball like a Gomez or Maatsen. That Galatasaray right back looks crisp though. Hope they can go for a player like him.

Surely they would have played Maatsen at left back at least once in pre season if that was the case? He has played everywhere but left back.
