all this 'he was weak' etc. is nonsense
Lol. It was a typical PL referee's performance which we'll unfortunately have to get used to again, obvious bias towards the rich clubs, concious or otherwise. Minor stuff like letting City take set pieces wherever they wanted but making sure we were on the exact spot; falling for them throwing themselves to the ground in the opposite direction to which they were travelling, (alvarez particularly good at that); and the real highlight, playing on with City in possession whilst the linesman flags for an offside against them.
Weak is changing his decision on Zaroury, which he got spot on first time, on the advice of some guy in a bunker watching a screen with no understanding or feel for the game at the stadium. VAR is an absolute blight on the sport which undermines referee's and unfortunately they're too weak to stand up to it.
We still have a real problem in this country with referee's because whilst they might know the laws to the letter, they don't have any understanding of the game itself. Standards are so low its untrue and they show no signs of getting any better.
Obvs didn't affect the result but one day it will.
