He must be training somewhere , it’s becoming quite weird that it’s so quiet on the player after all the progress on the transfer last week.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
All the talk about Tella and we don't even know if Southampton will sell him so maybe we don't even have the option to buy him which is why we're looking elsewhere.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I’m almost certain that with the money already invested we’re not going to leave ourselves short. It wouldn’t make sense.
It’ll probably be right up to the deadline day though and it might even be a loan or two, but we will address LB and possibly another midfield and forward.
Matt Targett on loan from Newcastle might be a good option right now. I’d definitely be looking into that one.

Pete O’Rourke suggesting Kompany wants a prolific striker and would be willing to pay over £20m for one.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I’ve only watched him a handful of times but the thing that stood out about him was his balance and composure on the ball. He played in that Fulham side that won promotion under Jokanovic that were very easy on the eye, and then went on to Villa and Newcastle who both play decent stuff. For that reason I think he’d be better suited to VK than Taylor is.
Plenty of Prem experience now as well. No doubt we’ve got targets from foreign leagues but I do think we’re still lacking a bit of domestic know-how.

Appreciate they are not always accurate but Transfermarkt have Romelo Lukaku’s salary as of last year at 12m per annum.
Given that we need a little bit of experience in our ranks, I’d much prefer exploring the possibility of whether we could get him on a year loan for 50% or 75% of his salary. It would help Chelsea out massively with FFP and he looks to have burnt bridges with the Italian sides that look to have been able to afford to take him.
Big question marks over whether he’d come of course but you would imagine the longer the window goes on the more attractive it would look for Chelsea to get him out of the door for whatever they can get for him and for him personally.
Pie in the sky, obviously, and very unlikely but It would be good to see if VK’s star power can pull in some established names as well as these exciting up and comers that have various clubs after them

Southampton wanting €25-30 million for Tella from Leverkusen, as good as he is and how the majority of fans would want him back, he won't be coming here at that price.

A lot of people strangely thought Tella was too dear at 15m,claiming unproven in the premier league .Well , if he was proven he would be 50mclaretburns wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:39 pmSouthampton wanting €25-30 million for Tella from Leverkusen, as good as he is and how the majority of fans would want him back, he won't be coming here at that price.

Haha, absolutely no chance. Also, every club he joins he leaves on bad terms. Definitely not a good player for the dressing room.

Southampton are in the position where they can ask what they like. They’ve no need to sell. Already raked in huge sums and have a billionaire owner.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 1:29 pmHope that puts to bed everyone saying ‘just pay the money and get tella in’ no way should anyone be spending 25m on tella

They're quoting silly money in the hope that some mugs will then think 15m is a bargain.
Which it really isn't.
Don't be surprised to see him go on deadline day for around £10m.

I'd be surprised at £10m. Southampton are in a win/win position. If they don't sell they'll see him as a key player for their promotion efforts.

Tella scores. I think that we can kiss that one goodbye, especially at 25-30 million.

I’m not sure another centre back is what we really need.

Nixon did say recently that we’re after a back up centre half as one of 5 more players targeted.

At €1m it looks like pure back up territory. The new Kevin Long
