Uncharacteristically speculative.
These aren't punts taken on players, these are some calculated gambles of good players that could become great. While the transfer fees might be high, i don't think they will be on big wages. VK has a system where players will have a chance to shine. I could see us yo-yo'ing back and forth for a few years. What we need is a big club benefactor that will buy our players at inflated prices (see Chelsea to BHA).
