In my opinion we have been afraid to win the ball. Not helped by very poor refereeing. All the Aston Villa players have to do to get a free kick is jump out of the way and fall over.

The big problem has been poor defending though. Al-Dakhil and Delcroix have some learning to do when tracking runs from both Watkins and Cash. It's also incredibly naive to give space and time on the ball to McGinn.

They are a very good side though, great on the counter but that's the Premier League. We have to do better.

Definitely upped the tempo and Villa weren't ready for it.

I’ll just say this - I’m in Florida on holiday and my Wife said at half time “You’ll win 3-2”.

I’m notoriously pessimistic and laughed it off.

Brilliant Foster. Glad Kompany didn’t listen to advice on here and take him off.

He has deserved that goal for the way he has played the two games.

The fact we’ve moved our entire defence around because Delcroix has been exposed too many times to me says we’re still in for atleast one LB as a minimum.

Different mentality altogether so far this half. Pushed Berge further up, Koleosho running at them every opportunity, tempo increased. Come on lads!

Makes it harder to watch knowing Sheff Utd are doing a better job taming City at home than we did even with their basket case of a club off the pitch.
More like City are being wasteful with their numerous chances unlike at the Turf.

I've spent the summer saying Gudmundsson won't play much. I still think this, but he's been very good since coming on.

Villa have been excellent, especially on the break. But it's felt too easy for them.

He literally had both hands on him too. Not sure how you can blatantly pull someone back and fail at doing so at the same time

If Watkins jumping over the shot is not interfering with the keeper I never want to see that decision given again. Terrible shout by VAR.

I know he's a favourite on here and a real prospect for the future but think Al-Dakhil has looked weak today. Was caught square in first half a few times playing centre back and has been poor a few times again at RB this half.
