Foster

Post by Elizabeth » Sun Aug 27, 2023 8:05 pm

Wow, so much unnecessary negativity on this board tonight.
Ok you downers , what did you think of Foster’s goal?

The way he worked his defender , turned and hit it straight into the bulging net. Did you like it ?

Superb goal in a really good performance.

Pretty coolheaded for a young lad to score his first PL goal and just crack on with it cos we were behind, too.

Suddenly looks stronger and a genuine handful.

Really hope he makes it at the top level. He seems like a really genuine fella.

Completely different player this season. Looks so much stronger. Exciting to see how he develops and so glad he got off the mark. He’s going to need a big season if we’re to have a successful year.

He’s only part of the equation but yes a goal scoring Foster would be massive .

There was a guy two rows in front of me who stood up and called Foster a w4nker… roughly 10 minutes after he had just scored.

He was brilliant today, as he was against City.

All of a sudden he looks like a big, strong, fast unit. Exactly what PL players look like.

So pleased he grabbed a goal today and I hope he goes on to have a great season.

Some of the comments on him last season were laughable at the time, but he's really sticking it down their throat now. Good on him.

I remember watching a striker playing for Notts Forest at the start of last season who didn’t look like he could score to save his life . He’s now I think broken their record for most top flight goals in succession , maybe 7/8.
The connection ?

Heard someone call Foster sh!te today and that JayRod should be starting.

We can all have different opinions, but anyone who has watched the last 2 games and thinks Foster is sh!te does not have a clue.

Fosters goal felt like it was the only time we crossed the ball into the box from open play all game and Villa struggled to defend it, Villa did so well to stop our wide players

When McGinn first got into the Villa side he was very hit and miss, now he is the lynchpin.

We can learn so much from this Villa side and while today we are a long way behind I don’t think it’s too far a stretch to say it’s not impossible

As soon as he he stuck himself up against there centre half I could see it happening the swivel and finish no doubt a premier league class goal. Strong as a ox that lad.

Is it me or has he shed some weight in the close season? He looks good and needs a striker of the same calibre up there with him.

If foster had had the chances Jay rod got today he’d already be the PL top scorer.

The chances missed today by Burnley’s own were shocking.

Foster is already 3x the player Jay rod is.

Pleased for Foster time will tell whether he will score the necessary goals...but £7.5m for a striker is very cheap...from what I have seen the effort is there ... I think he needs a proven goalscorer up top ...

I have said before we will struggle to score goals but that is no dig at Foster

Think we will struggle to keep goals out ...to stay up we have to get most our points against the teams at the bottom

I have always thought touch and go ...I think Luton and Sheff United will surprise teams at home and there will not be much of a gap like last year between us and them ...

No panic as yet but not going to be a good watch much of the time this yearc

If he wouldn’t have gotten a head injury away against Bristol City he would have bagged then.

He was terrorising their centre halves up until that injury.

He's looking really good, a real cause for optimism. Leaner but also stronger and faster, and took his goal really well. Best player on the pitch again (for us).

I said it before foster signed, but he’s got all the raw potential to be a real top player. He’s fast, strong, good with the ball, if he can add consistent goals to his game we are talking about a 50m pound player.

I’m glad he’s starting to show that potential

I don’t mind admitting I was struggling to see those attributes from my galloping horse! He’s clearly bulked up over summer. He was regularly getting shoved off the ball last season but now he’s holding his own, shielding the ball and getting stuck in!

Much improved player from last season. The only player who had the physicality and ability to keep hold of the ball. He was our only real threat.

He had a good game but needs to watch out being drawn back covering. He made some helpful defensive interventions but positionally needs to be there when we break. I thought he was excellent otherwise
