Mascots
Confused to see the mascots dressed in suits today. I guess it is related to the sponsorship by Rocco. It looked stupid seeing a football team accompanied by boys and girls in formal suits more suited to a wedding than a game of football. Blue for boys and pink for girls is also stereotypical. Wonder what the kids and there parents thought of this. I certainly wouldn’t have been happy if I’d paid for this experience for my child.

Re: Mascots
I wondered why they were dressed like that too. Looked a bit strange didn’t it.
Re: Mascots
Because Rocco paid an amount of money for it to happen. That's why

The chap and his son that sits just in front of us (his son was one of the suited mascots) seemed very happy when they returned to the JMU ...Oscar wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 8:56 pmConfused to see the mascots dressed in suits today. Re: Mascots
I think the mascots were the winners of a competition / ballot entry type thing. They got the suit made for them as part of the experience if I recall correctly.
I’m sure I saw it advertised somewhere a few weeks ago.
Did look odd though!

As the parent of one of the mascot today, I can say that there was a competition run by the club for the junior mascots in which the junior mascots had to submit a video of their goal celebration. Winners got the opportunity to be a mascot today with clothing provided by Roco, and a free home kit.
My son loved making his video clip and was very excited when he found out he was selected to be one of the mascots. He was even thrilled to be going to the fitting session (which was in the home dressing room).
Finally my son was absolutely thrilled to be walking out with his favourite player from all the new signings (Koleosho).
As a parent, i thought it was a great idea from the club to get the younger fans engaged (at no cost to parents) and great for Roco's PR too. I did raisee an eyebrow for a moment about the sterotype blue/pink colours, but the girls looked great in their suits.
Overall good day (dispite the result)

Re: Mascots
Always how I think it should be for the kids, free of charge. Unfortunately, it favours the kids from families who can afford it most of the time. Have to say I thought it looked odd them coming out dressed like that but at least brilliant for them to come out with the players.Muzamil.shah wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 9:30 pm

Re: Mascots
Glad to hear it was a competition and it gave the opportunity for children who might not have been able to be a mascot otherwise.

A free suit each

The kids enjoyed the opportunity. Every one of them.
Well done Rocco.

Re: Mascots
Doesn't necessarily mean all the kids were happy to wear the suits. Looking back I'm pretty sure I'd have rather worn a Burnley strip, same as the lads.
