We're a poor man's Man City atm. Excellent in possession, moving the ball quickly and to feet, we have an overwhelming amount of possession, we've got some real pace and we're really good to watch. However where City would turn all that into a 4-0 win, we simply can't. We don't actually open teams up often enough and so we're relying on 1-0s much of the time and when your defence isn't the most watertight, that's extremely dangerous. Last night was a great example. We were so much better than Stoke at times it was almost embarrassing, but for all our obvious superiority, we couldn't break them down apart from the 1 goal and then we get hit with the sucker punch (again!!)

substitute dyche for Kompany in the first sentence. We now have another flavour of boring football where we don't score goals and end up with dropped points from good positions.
I blame the fans they are so fickle and make the manager be conservative - for the marxist morons on here that's the verb not the political party.

2 teams in the whole division have scored more goals than us this season, we have scored 19 the other 2 have both scored 20.

You are right though we don't score goals

Yes. Or else our goals for would be zero or one.

The issue is turning possession into goals on a regular basis. Despite the rush of goals in those two games it’s been a problem, that’s what’s letting us down.

We need 2 goals a game to win these days - as we have seen 1 is not enough to get over the line WBA, Preston and Stoke to name but 3. Twine still to come back in and the WC will mean the January transfer window will be closer in terms of games to play.

In VC we trust - can anyone be seriously unhappy with a top 6 position after 12 games losing only 1 game which in fairness we should have had a least a point.

Keep the Faith boys and girls.

Is Vincent just an apprentice Football Manager experimenting with a certain style of play he learned at Man City without worrying too much about the end product ?
Are you a football manager fan that believes this is how football works?

The late equalisers have been frustrating but we have only lost once. That is a huge positive that a lot of people seem to want to ignore
Wait until we play teams in the top half of the table. Not played a team higher than 9th in the Table
Luton 9th drew Watford 9th lost and 23 Huddersfield won, 22nd WBA drew and second best 21st Blackpool drew, 20th Stoke drew 17th Hull drew
those include four draws at home when with our squad we should have won easily.
We will see if we step up to the plate this weekend and then the six or so games against teams from 8th place to top of the Table which come before the WC break

This messageboard must have the lowest amount of football knowledge per poster, than any other team in the entire football league. However one of the few things that someone has actually come out with that's a valid point, in that we should be shutting up shop with 5-10 minutes to go, to get the 3 points.

Isn’t this one of the most expensive squads in the league with some of the most experienced prem league experience?

I am all for defending Kompany but let’s not make it he’s working miracles. It’s clear he’s got the best squad in this league (in a league that is incredibly poor).

He may come good but he also may not. Time will tell with this one
so you think our squad is better than those of Sheff Utd(the majority of their PL squad), Norwich (pretty much their entire PL squad) and Watford with all the experience they have ?

Agree he needs time. Anyone does. The argument doesn't need Pep as the comparator.
we could compare it to Dyche's first 6 months if you prefer ? Some folks have very short memories

I like the way not once this season has he said we were unlucky.
He knows we make mistakes, at both ends of the pitch, and puts the failures down to them. He also says they are fixable, which I totally agree. I just hope it's sooner rather than later, as it is bloody frustrating.

They say at the end of the season the table doesn't lie. However, after , roughly , a quarter way through where we've played nobody above 9th, it probably masks weaknesses and gives a false sense of just how good, bad or indifferent we really are.

Glass jaw anybody ?

BTW - Give the guy a chance to rectify.

Agree with this (correct to put aside the 2 anomalies). And creating more chances would be the starting point. Then we might score more goals. We are not creating chances.

We seem to be regressing in that respect. Likewise at the other end we concede an awful lot in proportion to how much possession/chances the opposition has. This is not effective football

what I've noticed is that when we get the ball in the line between their defence and midfield the onus is on keeping it, rather than seeking through balls. We seem scared at points to make that final pass, preferring to reset and recycle.

Once this clicks we'll do better. A centre forward with a bit of pace would help break the line more. Tella is more used to stick wide.

Fair points.
I'm not seeing enough runs into good attacking positions to receive through-balls at present
also not sure why Tella is so wide on the left.
