Muric Beyer Ekdal

Post by Milltown1882 » Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:17 pm

Absolutely crucial we get these three back together as soon as the CBs are fit.

Fair play to VK trying in vain to patch it up without those two CB’s, will make a world of difference when they’re back together.

Ekdal wasn’t even on the bench against City or Villa, unsure of how much Kompany rates him.

Any updates on when the two CBs might be available again?

I’d feel a lot more comfortable with these 3 at the back.

Can’t agree there. I think those 3 and Foster make a huge difference to the team, we need them playing together asap.

I imagine his rating has improved significantly since those two fixtures which seem light years ago.

Sadly I can’t see them making a difference to the outcome of this season.

It will make a huge difference. Ekdal is brilliant in both boxes at set pieces for a start.

If he had Beyer or Al Dakhils pace he'd be at a bigger club. But Mee still has no pace and was Brentford's player of the season last year. Ekdal is absolutely class and I can't understand why he fell out of the team when Bellis returned last year. He's our best defending defender, a brilliant mid range passer, strongest in the air at both ends and compliments Beyer perfectly.

But despite that I increasingly lose faith that he'll ever return to the league lineup when fit. Or Benson, despite being our best goal threat after Foster.

Agree we need these three back fit and together but despite Muric's performance tonight, VK will persist with Trafford Saturday and it'll creat a negative atmosphere from 2pm when the team sheets are released

I find myself agreeing with you all the time SPT.

Both of them are desperately needed back ASAP

We keep saying the same every week about getting them back but neither seem anywhere near full fitness.

Beyer is absolutely crucial. The only player even approaching some level of leadership. It's asking a lot of him to instill some fight into this team though. We are so weak in every area of the pitch. I can understand the lack of confidence but no fight or determination they show is shocking

Our team has no spine which all quality teams must have. Tonight I saw a glimmer of a possible spine

Muric
Beyer when fit
Berge bossed the middle of the park for 45 mins
Foster when fit

Build the rest of the team round them

What our current defence can't do is get past the opposition press. Beyer can go past a man, Ekdal drives forwards and Muric can pick a pass. We need them fit and playing, and hopefull bring in a left back in January.

There were a couple of times last night when we did break through the press that we looked really good. Only a couple but it was there - we just don't have the platform at the minute to play the way the manager wants the team to play.

The past four games Beyer played were Luton away, Forest away, United home and Newcastle away. Arguably our best performances this season, I know we were comfortably beaten at Newcastle but we were in the game at 1-0 down with 15 to play until AAD just gave them a penalty.

It’s no shock we’ve crumbled defensively without him, Man United are missing Martinez and Varane, they also shipped 3 last night.

THB would have been a great addition to our squad instead of one of the 27 wingers we signed !!!! We even let McNally go out when we are clearly understaffed in the cb department. The management clearly have to take the rap for going into a premier league season with only Beyer AD O’Shea Ekdal and Delcroix A couple of injuries or suspensions and we are screwed. Just imagine if we still had Mee and Tarks. Wonder how many points we would have now. Both were sold for peanuts

Both Mee and Tarkowski ran their contracts down hence the peanuts we got for them.

We turned down 30m for tarkowski gambling on him keeping us up .. it didn’t happen and he left on a free .. maybe upset we never let him go /. Mee was a fantastic player for us for 10 years and I wish him all the best
