Re: Today's Football
Liverpool had 2 goals in 2 minutes by Nunez ruled out by VAR.
First one was a toenail decision, second one definite

No Maxwell. Not even on the bench. What's happened with him?

Re: Today's Football
Forest just scored and reminded me of "what could have been "yesterday. JBG got through on the left, carried it into the box, shot to the left of the keeper, shot got parried and went into no mans land for a couple of seconds. Jay and Amdouini were no where near. By contrast same scenario today v WHU. Gibbs White shot deflected and Awnoniyi on hand to tap in the GK's parry. Yesterday Jay & Amdouini playing so deep we had no strikers

Re: Today's Football
He’s usually been on the bench so far this season, so evidently not injured. That’s not to say he not injured at the moment. Real shame it’s not working out for him with Wet Spam.
Maybe a cheeky loan deal in January..?

Re: Today's Football
Much as I liked Maxwel, I can’t think of a player type we need less than ‘a winger who isn’t always available’

Deservedly so we are the worst team in this league right nowSwizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 3:36 pmBlades equalise, Brighton down to 10 and we’re currently rock bottom

Tella also not getting a look-in at Leverkusen, although they’ve had a storming start to the season, top of the league ahead of Harry Kane’s Bayern.

Re: Today's Football
Sheff Utd and Luton are staying in games-something we have yet to discover how to achieve, giving them a chance of stealing points. Had either of these sides played Arsenal yesterday its conceivable they could have stayed in the game and then stolen 3 points when Arsenal went down to 10 men

Re: Today's Football
We were much better than Sheffield United and Luton last season. Yet in the space of three or four months, both of them look more capable of staying up than we do. It's a weird and disappointing situation.
Re: Today's Football
Arsenal beat Sheff Utd 5-0 a couple of weeks ago so not sure about that.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 3:44 pmSheff Utd and Luton are staying in games-something we have yet to discover how to achieve, giving them a chance of stealing points. Re: Today's Football
I know some people get their knickers in a twist if you praise our rivals, but a point for Sheff Utd at Brighton following a home win against Wolves is a great return for them.
We're bottom for a reason.

Vital we pick up points in these next three games or we run a real risk of being cut adrift.

Re: Today's Football
Problem is with us not even picking up the odd draw is that we're not putting any pressure on the mid to lower half teams whatsoever.
Nobody is even glancing over their shoulders at the moment, and are therefore playing with a freedom that grants. Everton are a prime example...

Re: Today's Football
It’s not weird. We completely changed our team
Muric Tella THB Maatsen etc all dropped or gone. Failed to sign a PL center half or left back.Signed players not up to pl quality Chickens coming home to roost

And add to that no striker signed - and our only decent one now on the sidelines

Did you see the way the Chelsea player was protecting his keeper at the City corner kick.

Re: Today's Football
Okay. Strange, odd, confusing, peculiar. Pick your adjective. The point is that two teams we were much better than last season have been allowed to close that gap.

Re: Today's Football
It was pointed out before a ball was kicked that our approach to the season was bizarre - of course the happy clappers weren't having it and thought buying a league one keeper & bringing in a bunch of floaty wide players would somehow make us a PL team.
Disasterclass in what not to do after getting promotion, imo.
Re: Today's Football
One shirt pull followed by another, but only the second is given. VAR doesn't get the right decision, it just changes who makes the wrong decision.

It’s tedious isn’t it? Every week, we’re talking about VAR.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 4:58 pmVAR becoming the main talking point again what a shock! All part of the script.
Even at the height of ref’s getting it wrong, it wasn’t every effing week.

Taylor will be reffing in the Championship again next time out. He was demoted last week after giving a wrong penalty against Wolves - in a game where they played a "big six" club - Premier League corrupt as f***.
Turned over to watch Werder Bremen v Frankfurt.

Exactly. It’s just become a farce now that the officials revel in. Gives them plenty of stories for their sportsman’s dinner speeches after they retire I suppose.
