He was annoying some of the others around us. He was shouting at him whenever he had the ball at his feet, berating him for not catching the ball when he did well to even punch it. I certainly wouldn’t be giving any credence to the opinions of ‘supporters’ like him.

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
JMU. But a lot of people in the stands were getting restless with Trafford and on one occasion this pressurised him into forcing a pass which he over hit to Taylor’s head - VK gestured to Trafford to ignore the dissent in the crowd and slow down.
Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
No way absolutely no way, how can you pick a keeper who's made 2 or 3 saves in 14 games over Jensen?
Some fans never took to Muric because of his style so much so they were that desperate for a new keeper there making out Trafford is the next Gordon Banks.
He has done nothing in a Burnley shirt to warrant this high praise from people.
He has zero motivation and that's half his problem he is too laid back
Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
At least he hasn't pretended to be injured after letting a goal in, unlike Jensen.

You do wonder at what point the dullards will start to even bore themselves with their campaign against Trafford. Most understand you are struggling to cope with the absence of Muric but aren't you bored of yourselves yet ?
It is the same people week in week out piling in on him any time a chance arises, thankfully most of them seem to pollute the match threads on here than attend games

I heard the groaning from a few numbnuts but certainly nowhere near a majority, yet again a poster making things up to try and justify their argument

Didn't notice much if any groaning Saturday up until West Ham scored maybe it is more noticeable in some parts of the ground.
It isn't that long since we had posts urging posters to think what they post about players on here after the news of why Foster is unavailable, but there is a group on here who can't help themselves when it comes to Trafford.

You must have left very early if you didn't notice any, it was getting more frequent as the 1nd half progressed because he was holding on to the ball far too long or flapping at crosses

Tbf Nori I am a Trafford advocate and I heard growns on Saturday.
I Personally thinks it because people don’t understand the system. You could see VK visibly telling Trafford to slow down (to invite the press) in the hope that we could beat it and counter with our rapid players.
Unfortunately we just weren’t quite good enough on the ball

Imagine watching Jensen trying to play it out from the back.
Remember him once celebrating keeping his first pass in play about 40 minutes into a game.

Your the only one who didn't hear it, did you have you TV on mute? You obviously wasn't at the Turf.
They got louder as the game progressed.
I'll voice my opinion after the game but even I try and support him during the match but it's getting more and more difficult his next clanger is just around the corner is what it feels like

We'll be talking about the win because they've become that rare, I'll eat my dirty shoes if we win because of a goalkeeping masterclass.

That's something we still need to do better when we are leading. Take your time, play the ball around, start to hold the ball at the corner flag. Get the opponent nervous. Force them to make mistakes. It's part of the game, definitely being a smaller team in a league of giants we must learn to play the mental game as well. All part of the learning curve.

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
I have been a regular critic of Trafford and I am not apologising for it. He is definitely a key factor in why we are rock bottom of the league. He lacks confidence and ability in certain areas, therefore he doesn’t command his six yard box and this makes the makeshift defence jittery.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2023 8:40 amDidn't notice much if any groaning Saturday up until West Ham scored maybe it is more noticeable in some parts of the ground.

The Arsenal game is a classic example of why he isn’t good enough. We let that first goal in at his far post which if we had Heaton or Pope in goal wouldn’t have happened. Then, after we had played well to get back into the game he dithered when he should have dealt with the corner easily, missed the ball by a mile and the Arsenal player had a simple header into the net.
He missed another one completely on Saturday. He is weak and I don’t think he is being coached very well either.
If people want to keep defending him then fine, they must be seeing something in him that I and numerous others cannot see. Put quite simply, everything isn’t just going to click for him and all of a sudden he will become a good keeper. He just isn’t good enough at this present time for this standard of football.
Having said that, I’m not sure Muric is either but it’s time to give him a start.

I’d argue we’ve tried that all season, playing the ball around. Thanks mate I know you've nothing left because your picking up on spellings. If I wanted a grammar forum I'd go to one but picking up on grammar it's I'm or I am not Iam.
He went to punch a cross Saturday and missed it completely, if they scored off it then it would of been a clanger or let me guess you missed that too?

You might want to check out the podcast with Vigouroux where he had nothing but praise for the lad.

But he probably doesn't know anything about goalkeeping either?

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
I’m not a Trafford knocker, but that interview with Vigouroux is talking about the future “he will be a very, very good keeper” etc.
That’s the key - normally a young keeper gets bedded in, such as Verbruggen at Brighton who is playing only half the games but enough to get experience. Young players need taking out of the firing line at times like we have done with Al Dakhil.
Instead of signing Vigouroux we should have signed someone like Tom Heaton and told James and Tom they will each get over a dozen games (who gets the most would then be form dependant). In the meantime James is learning from Tom on the training ground.
It wasn’t a disastrous window like some suggest, but it was a naive one. Luckily, it is redeemable in January.

On a serious note do you think your going to get an honest opinion from a third choice goalkeeper at a club with such a polarising goalkeeper situation?
It would be much more interesting to hear Muric’s thoughts . Obviously no one will find out until he is sold or Kompany is sacked.
All this blowing smoke up Vinny’s backside for 12 months has put us in this situation where his decisions are beyond reproach. I would love to be in Pace’s mind right now. His reality check will be massive. I wonder if he has said anything to Kompany about the keeper situation.

Loan Trafford to Man U and get him in?
I would make him no.1 priority for a keeper on loan in Jan.
Proven ability, loads of experience and commanding presence at the back is pretty much priceless at this level.
Absolute no brainer.

It's still a clanger see the next post, the blame for both goals isn't entirely on Trafford from Saturday but I don't think either of those are scored with Heaton or Pope in goal

Got to laugh at the notion that Trafford doesn’t make mistakes. He’s made umpteen errors this season and flaps like a little fish with any cross which goes in.
He is just not a premier league quality goalkeeper.

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
Trafford is far from the finished article, he doesn't command his box and is prone to flap a bit at high balls into the box (essential at this level for a keeper). he is a decent L1 lower champ keeper at the minute he just lacks a few yrs experience for the top level. In 4 or 5yrs time with the experience he will have by then he will be a far better keeper maybe even in the England set up. at the minute he isn't what we need we can't afford to blood a keeper who is a couple of years away from this level and to continue to put him behind our current defence may well curb his progression and will do him no good at all, the defenders need confidence in the keeper and vise versa. if you think beast is/was better then you have no idea what a good keeper looks like.

The team selection including the goalkeeper has looked all season as though the board are telling the manager who to pick based on their cost. It’s incredulous that it’s the manager’s choice. Bad man management to pick Trafford straight away.

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
It seems that some think that Trafford is 100% the reason we are losing and definitely not O'Shea playing like a competition winner, the entire defence acting like a human sieve, the midfield passing with the accuracy of a blind firing squad and strikers who couldn't find the back of the net even if the other team didn't turn up. Funny how few mention the other issues in the team when magnifying anything Trafford does.

This argument just doesn't stand up - two of our most expensive acquisitions in Odobert and Tresor weren't in the squad. Koleosho has been a regular starter and he was, what, £3m? He just prefers Trafford over Muric - I don't agree with it, but it is what it is.
