Matt Lowton
Matt Lowton
Netted his first goal for Witton Albion last night scoring the opener in their home game against Nantwich. It didn't do them much good though as they lost 1-4.

Re: Matt Lowton
Just doesn’t seem right him playing at that level

Re: Matt Lowton
Tell you what Dyche could pick a steady full back. Taylor Ward Lowton Pieters Bardsley Roberts. I hated the Bardsley signing at the time but I was wrong on that one and really liked him.

Re: Matt Lowton
I felt the same about Pieters to some extent but he was actually a much better footballer than I'd given him credit for.

Re: Matt Lowton
Dyche’s record with full backs but also with defenders and keepers in general has got to be up there with one of the best by any manager in the last 10 years.
Lowton - very cheap and a very good player. Brilliant lad too by all accounts. Proved he was good enough for PL.
Ward - free transfer ? Great player for us.
Taylor - £7m. Not cheap but not expensive either. Bit of a diversion for Dyche to buy a younger player and have him as an understudy initially but think he should have done more of this.
Roberts - cheap and had a very good season last year. But I do not believe he has proven good enough in the PL under Dyche or VK. But for the money we paid that is to be expected.
Bardsley & Pieters - they were both good players and never let us down. We paid little or nothing in transfer fees but both were on between £1.5m and £2m a year in wages. This was expensive for 2 players that were playing a dozen or so a games a season. I can see Dyche’s view too in buying experience and not paying a transfer fee as you would very likely have to for buying a young full back (like we did with Charlie)
