Trafford, Man of the Match

Post by Jamesy » Sat Dec 09, 2023 4:59 pm

I have been one of his biggest critics but have to say he earned us a point today. Well done son. Great confidence booster.

I've also been a huge critic, he was average for 1st half and he's distribution was poor, but 2nd half was absolutely phenomenal, definitely won us a point, hopefully a huge boost and needs to take this into the next game and show more consistency, can't afford to go backwards at this stage and needs to stand tall against Everton because he'll be massively tested.

Yes I was critical of him first half with the three he tried to pass up the middle and we lost possession. Hopefully he will learn from these also.
I was so pleased to see how happy he looked at the end of that game. We were hanging on and those 8 minutes seemed like half an hour. His last save was superb.

Kept giving the ball away but his saves were outstanding.

His shot stopping was immense today

However, his pass completion success rate was 35%. A lot longer kicks which I am a fan of and I do wonder if the low success rate is also the fault of our forwards not getting on the end of them,

Think yesterday summed him up he's an excellent shot stopper but his distribution his woeful I counted at least 4 times by early 2nd half he kicked it straight to a Brighton player and we were fortunate not to get punished

Distribution is far from woeful. It’s okay and will get a lot better with experience. He has an excellent first touch, balance and very calm under pressure - all good traits. Next step is finding neater passes between the lines but it’s not easy at this level! David Raya was known at Blackburn for being unable to kick straight and now he’s signing for Arsenal to provide better distribution than Ramsdale.

Do you check the pass completion rate of all the others too ?

How many passes went astray from outfield players... The ones who's job it is to pass the ball?

And if anyone has watched Raya recently they will see that even he is massively struggling with this distribution. Let alone the actual keeping part

I totally agree particularly in the 2nd half there was plenty of stray passes from the outfield players.the topic is about Trafford though is it not?

The topic was started to congratulate Trafford on a man of the match performance which gained us a good point, not to whine about his perceived poor distribution. Plenty of other threads where you could have done that.

You have to be moron to criticise a 21 year old who has never played in the Premier League before. You must be embarrassed today. Keep your thoughts to yourself in future.

JT played a massive part in earning us a point yesterday and rightly received great support from the travelling Clarets who chanted his name during and after the game.

Hopefully it's a turning point for JT and the team and we can build on that going forward.
