Ok in general play yes. I wouldn't say it's just the goals we've been bad defensively, we are very easy to counter at pace. There's been a good few times one of their midfielders has had room to run into with the ball at our defensive third. And more obviously from crosses, we are a shambles.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 6:03 pmWe've been terrible a couple of times, at defending.
The rest of it, has been ok. We need a goalscorer like everyone else does too.

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
The thing is though Bayer can't defend either said it before and will say it again he is a back 3-man but in a 2 he loses his man all the time and doesn't talk about the fact he can't win anything aerilly. Back 4 is a shambles without the ball and with it the lack of movement in front of them is scary. Not our day we being taught a lesson.

Getting out passed massively by a Dyche side too.
What a depressing half.

We all know that.
We're probably going down. We have a side which will struggle to win many games. We have a small, inexperienced, cheap side.
What do people expect?
Enjoy the ride, FFS! Enjoy watching some players develop. We will gradually improve because we are young and inexperienced.

Just not a PL centre half in a team that has to do some defending.
It's criminal that Ekdal isn't playing.
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
It's madening all the goals we concede are all self inflicted
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
This is a walk in the park for Everton
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Think we’ve turned a corner in the last 5 games, this is shockingly bad though. Rodriguez can’t even control a simple pass, this left back is so bad, O’Shea is a mistake waiting to happen, collectively weak on corners.
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
I think we expect the basics to be at least decent.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 6:10 pmWe all know that.

Defending crosses, showing strength etc
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Big second half because this is the worst first half I've witnessed this season
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
We are as weak as ****. It’s embarrassing at how we constantly fail at the basics.
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
No wonder tella, Maatsen and THB didn’t fancy it. They aren’t mugs!

Please can we have one game of Muric and Ekdal? Just once?

I'm not trying to poke the hornets nest which is the whole Muric/Traffird thing but was Muric strong in the air? Only saw him in the TV matches last season but he looked very unconvincing at crosses and seemed a weak 'big' keeper. Genuine question - was he good in dealing with crosses/corners?

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
A Dyche side? Full of experienced internationals at all key positions. Everton are a very good side. Very well organised. They lack strength in depth but they would be in Europe at the end of this season but for the points deduction. They may still make it. They've just won 3 on the bounce without conceding. (Including Newxastle and Chelsea in the last 2).

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Problem is we have been sh!t for the .IST part today as we have in far too many games so far this season. We don't seem to have any game plan apart from knock it around in little triangles at the back, then chip it into midfield, lose possession, rinse and repeat until the opposition score. Then we tend to go a bit longer with our passingJimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 6:06 pmYes. WE should be winning every game.
Every team that comes up wins every game.
It's just a mess

Against Everton in the Cup he was good at claiming crosses , yesscamander wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 6:14 pmI'm not trying to poke the hornets nest which is the whole Muric/Traffird thing but was Muric strong in the air? First goal wouldn’t have happened with him in nets

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Such dreadful lowered expectations. I think people expected that spending £90m in the summer after a 101pt championship win would build a squad that could compete to survive.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 6:10 pmWe all know that.

There's nothing to enjoy about weekly beatings where the same flaws are exposed and don't improve. Nothing to enjoy about seeing the same selection decisions clung to after continuous tactical and individual problems. And players won't develop as much if they are low on confidence and subject to regular hidings

You could stick Trafford and Muric in goal together and we’d still get beat.

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
It’s the standard thing on here, players become better without playing. I love Muric as much as anyone but he was the biggest flapper at crosses.
Just like Larsen was the best player at the club when he wasn’t playing, now he’s playing reality hits and he’s bang average.

Outstanding defending from Godfrey. We’ve had some good chances this half but all blocked or defended superbly. Massive difference between the sides when you look at the other end.

I got pilloried for saying Jays done by some people. Posted stats the other day his tackling is decent but everything else is abysmal. Anyone would offer more, Larsen, Redmond, Obafemi, he just can't contribute anything beyond defensive-half tackles anymore
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Hopefully we actually turn up the second half!

Dreadful, dreadful stuff.

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Is it looking like another game where the opposition have won/will win without having to play well?
What sort of team are we? We don't keep the ball, we don't counter attack, we don't press high, we don't use set pieces.
It's one thing not being good enough, and I'm sort of fine with that. But this is wishy washy nothingness. It's not even looking like the type of team Kompany wants anymore.

Quite pleased I’ll be cycling home and missing the second half. We are so weak it’s incredible.

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Trafford continually gives the ball away or plays his receivers into trouble because he passes the ball so slowly that when our player gets the ball he is totally surrounded.
Pace should acutely embarrassed. I certainly am
