Media reporting Jordan Henderson wants to return from Saudi Arabia. If he's still in contention for an England place - and he's made his money in SA - I'd be happy to add Henderson to the squad to the end of the season.

UTC
All fine in theory until we have to pay his (reported) wages of £250,000 a week and that's where it kind of falls down. I suppose we could always do a David Reeves type bucket collection?

I’m sure most of us would but as said, not on the wages he’s getting (or even half his wages)

Ajax apparently interested in a loan deal

Henderson will have a massive tax bill if he returns to UK - he'd need to be outside the UK for the whole of a tax year not to have to pay UK tax. But, if he wants to retain his England squad place he probably needs to play Premier League football. He won't be getting anything like the money that he was paid to play in Saudi Arabia. Maybe he will need to turn out for free for someone, not least to avoid busting FFP for one of the big teams.

Well I've seen Charlie Taylor win plenty.

50/50s in the left back position?

Well is that not where he's supposed to be ?? I've also seen him win many a header from set pieces in the penalty area too.

I saw him win some when he played in the middle.
Honestly, I don't think LBs and RWs contest many high balls, certainly not 50/50s.

That’s a fair comment, but certainly if there's a header to be won Charlie Taylor will win he's fair share. The one that stands out in my memory was trippier, although on the opposite side, but was brilliant considering he's height.

So many better options already in the squad to help the midfield than having twine

Twine got done with his injury then was never given any sort of consistent game time, It's hard to give a fair opinion on his abilities, he hasn't done well at Hull but Tella did the square root of nothing at Southampton. As with anything in life you need an opportunity in the right environment

Not sure you can watch twine play football and think to any degree that he would be a success in the prem.

Slow, weak and about ok technically wise. He’s found his level.

We've got to have one lined up, I can't imagine in the position we are in risking having just Taylor(injured) and Vitinho as our only full backs.
Does make sense though they've just let Ayling go on loan and we didn't play Roberts Friday and choose to be weaker instead

I was talking about the Championship tbh which is where we will be next season, in terms of do we keep hold of him or not. I suspect not but was merely pointing out that there's no real body of work to judge him on

If he isn't being sold it makes no sense why Vitinho wasn't left back and Roberts right back

I would of kept Vitinho at right back because of his progression but had roberts at left back over al-dakhil if I’m honest

Not close to being physically able in the PL, not sure he is on the Championship tbh. Got good ability though, pings the ball well and makes really intelligent runs.....but when you consider he cost more than Koleosho I know who I'd prefer to play for us in the Championship

edit: I'll add, Twine is already 24 so it needs to happen very soon for him

Reported interest by a Yorkshire journalist Darren Witcoop or something like that, looked at some comments and LUFC fans mentioning a medical.

We’ve wasted some money in the last 18 months. Like VKs team selection, his transfers are a lucky dip too.

Maybe the lad will be more settled there. He’s from Swindon isn’t he? Not far. I’d have kept him for the Championship squad but if we’re breaking even (we probably are, near enough) and he’s not seen as part of our plans in either league then fair enough. Hope we include a sell on. Good luck to him - seems a top lad.

City had baulked at Burnley’s £5m valuation of Twine and began to consider other targets but it seems a compromise has been reached and the Wiltshire-born midfielder is set to return to the West Country, which could become a more long-term arrangement should it be a success.

Think we paid about £4M for Twine.

Strange move, especially for the quoted price. He might not be a PL player but we won't be there for long anyway.

2.5m for twine is a loss but it’s still decent fee for a player at 24 has only proved it at league one level, yes he could well be a squad player next season but nothing more than that

Not sure which is right then but transfermarkt seems to be the most reliable source of transfer information.

I imagine if it were more than £2.5m the difference will have been add-ons which I cannot believe have been triggered.

2.5m seems low given what was reported at the time but regarding the add ons it's possible that somthing was triggered as we gained promotion.

Even if the fees are the same for buying and selling, We still have to pay agent fees on both deals. So a loss.

We’ve wasted some money in the last 18 months. Like VKs team selection, his transfers are a lucky dip too.
VK walked in the door with about 8 first team players left. Think Twine might of played more if he wasn't injured early doors and we didn't get the numbers we eventually got in.

2.5m seems low given what was reported at the time but regarding the add ons it's possible that somthing was triggered as we gained promotion.
Yep, fair point on that. Not sure if that will also have been contingent on certain personal contribution like games played, etc.

I always use transfermarkt, seems to be the online gospel although how they get information on confidential contracts I don’t know.

Truth is, nobody on here knows but I do think any leaks from selling clubs/agents are likely to inflate it to the maximum to look like they’ve done a great job.

I’ll think we are mad if we loan with an option though. In order of preference - no option or obligation.

Even if the fees are the same for buying and selling, We still have to pay agent fees on both deals. So a loss.
Yes, plus wages. Not arguing that if the fees reported are true, it’s a good deal for us. Would be a disappointing one both financially and professionally for the team in my view.
