He and we needed that move - he struggled in his few outings in the Championship

Good luck to the lad as he struggled with illness and injury since he came...

Let's hope it's loan with to buy added
A very strange signing and as a full international he must have wondered why he didn't get at least a sub spot in games.

Because we are signing players based on stats and analytics alone, not players to compliment the squad

Given he'd been playing in the Bundesliga I had far greater expectations with this signing than many of the others. It hasn't worked out at all, he isn't good enough.

I agree with the majority of that but “isn’t good enough” I’m not sure that’s fair. I thought he looked an exciting player when he first played. Isn’t it the same old, the players need regular starts and he was one of many that didn’t get it. I don’t think I could call him not good enough from the few appearances he had. Obviously I don’t see him in training like VK does but it’ll be interesting to see how he goes on if he gets regular starts in Germany.

Looked a long, long way off Championship standard in his start away at Reading towards the end of last season.

EDIT - Sorry, he came on as a sub when Tella got injured really early on.

Suspect he is one of many who couldn’t adjust immediately to the frenetic pace of English football (including in training). I think lots of our players suffer from that, one minute they are flying in on private jets and coasting in games back home, then ‘bang’ a rude awakening how tough it all is, no time to take a second on the pitch and use their skills.

I am really hoping that a few other players adapt to that, better players than Churlinov, like Tresor, Amdouni etc. Otherwise we’ll be flogging them back to the continent too.

Not from what I’ve seen on him

If controlling a pass, moving forward and finding a decent shot or lay off to a team mate are deemed an acceptable standard. Championship or otherwise. Then he was way off it. As for beating a man, forget it. Best not seen and forgotten. A complete waste of money and time.

All the best Darko, seemed a likeable chap - happy to see he overcame his illness and the difficult year that he's had.

I wouldn't judge him on one outing against Reading after a long layoff - he had some glimpses and I think he had something.

Caused the Baggies problems at the Hawthorns early in the year and did some decent work against United in the Cup.

Better players than Darko, Zeki or Mike have struggled to adapt to the PL or Championship over the years. And I believe the standard, both in terms of quality and physicality is much higher now than it has ever been!

Worse places to go and play your football. Schalke average about 60,000 at home games and that's while in the bottom half of the 2.Bundesliga. Absolutely huge club.

There's a few posters in here that have been getting well into folk for suggesting certain players are not up to scratch halfway through the premier league season. Too early to tell.

Self same posters have this lad pegged after a handful of minutes in an injury and illness disrupted season.

Some opinions are greater than others it appears.

But he didn't look good enough last season, so why do you think he'd be what we need in the Premier League?

300 mins last season, mainly as a sub with barely anytime to get into the game, is apparently enough to condemn him
Most of those appearances are so small, you’d blink and miss him

Shame he suffered that issue last summer, but a loan move away will be good for him to get some game time under his belt

If the move becomes permanent we’ll most likely recoup what we paid for him, or maybe make money on him, because there’s no way he’s done enough to trigger additional payment clauses in his original transfer to us
