Bit harsh on O’Shea that.
Well, either/or on that front I’m not too fussed, it wasn’t meant as an indictment on DOS, moreso throw the new guy in as we just aren’t looking solid.

Fair one. Agree with Fofana though, looks a good footballer.

We were much better that last 30 minutes. Ramsey made a real difference when he came on for a change, closing down and running his heart out. Fofana looked excellent.

Tough slog but small shoots of optimism. If you’re into all that, we actually had a reasonably similar xG to City. We do create chances but guilty of not taking them, Amdouni in particular.
I am into it. Thanks!

The subs have given VK something to think about.

Ramsey has had a lot of stick on here but at least he tried and gave his all for the team when he came on. Looked keen

Agree with some of the others that Ramsay did well and injected some much needed urgency into our press. Seemed to spark Fofana into life as well as he was far too passive for the first 10 mins.

We are such a passive team with no fight. It looked like we were beaten from kick off. The only positive for me tonight was Fofana who looked half decent. If Amdouni plays 1 more minute for us it will be too long. He is a total mercenary with nothing about him. The Swiss Messi…..wow!!

I'd have said it was more fofana that brought the belief and fight, but yes absolutely didn't do it on he's own, brought other's in to it, just hope kompany made a note of the one's showing the most fight.

Good grief that was difficult to keep watching that stuff.

Players to much on the back foot then slow to attack the the opposition when they had the ball.

Then Company pictured on the touchline not reaching in any way as a response.

A drastic change there attitude in the future will be very welcome.

That's great, but not seen anything official yet, but must be done if he had the colours on, let's hope he gives us the solidity needed at the back, shame Taylor's not fit to start with him, in the left back position of course.

As much as Roberts has become a bit of a fall guy, I'd love to see a back 4 of Roberts o'shea esteve Taylor going forward I think, height and fight.

It's a start, and the closest I've seen this season to some fight, was encouraging to say the least, although game was won by then of course.

I've looked forward to this game for a month. What a dumb move. Kind of disappointed with the transfer window so far. We haven't really signed anything we really needed except for Fofana who can be a good substitution upfront.

However we could have signed anyone we wanted and it still wouldn't have made a difference whatsoever in the way City toyed with us. To think Haaland wasn't even there is disturbing in a way. With De Bruyne Doku and Foden as a front 3 I was feeling sorry for our players.

Different level. The technique the pace... The tactical strength of Guardiola. All we could do was suffer through it. They didn't even have to do their best. Painful as a Burnley supporter.

Actually it would have made a difference, and that's the point. City CAN sign anyone they want. We can't. So we are screwed before we even kick off.

Premier League is an unfair competition. You have money, you win, no money. You lose. We don't have (enough) money.

I would be happy for the "top 6" and their compatriots across Europe to go bugger off and have their own Euro Super league - no relegation - he who spends most - wins.

That gives us back the EFL, with a smaller TV contract (so players earn "only" $20,000 / week instead of $200,000 / week) but we get a competitive league, hopefully with no VAR ('cause we can't afford it!).

That's your opinion. Against the rest of the league it absolutely would have made a difference but against City I really doubt even Gueye and Oosterwolde would have made a difference.

My point was if we (theoretically) had the amount of money City can apparently spend, then we could be competitive.

We don't, so yes, we may be able to compete against the "best of the rest" but that's it.

Not sure I want to compete in a league where the odds are so stacked against me, just because I don't I have money to buy the best players. Not because I don't have a good scouting / development programme that develops new players, that I don't have have a fan base that is loyal to their town /team etc. etc. that I have slim to no chance of winning. What's the point? Playing to survive gets old. See Dyche S.

Unlimited money is the only way to compete on a consistent basis in the Premier League, and we don't have unlimited money, and to be honest, I wouldn't want the money from some of the sources where the "big" clubs are getting theirs. So let them go.

I'm an old fart, give me back the EFL.

Clueless is somebody who thinks we played well, did you not see the pace City were playing at? They could have upped it and put 10 in if they wanted it was that easy.
It was almost like Pep and VK had agreed for City to win if they kept the scoreline down.
There was no effort or fight from our team.

Does the obvious need repeating? We’re not very good right now but there’s reasons for that, young inexperienced side, mistakes in the summer and we’ve needed to pray those from last season were good enough.

I believe in time we will return stronger and better prepared to compete. You have no idea about the model, our squad at the moment could lose 6-10 and still be competitive at the top end of the league below.

I don’t think we’ve bought young players to firesale them after a year and build again, the last relegation was a one off.
Everybody is aware of the model, everybody is aware of the loans taken out, the debt put on the club and the money spent.
There's only one way to balance the books upon relegation.
Any offers will be considered for the players who have come out of this season with any credit added to the fact several will want to leave and a few such as cork and jay will be going suddenly we could be looking at 10 players that need replacing, that's a rebuild.

Not really because we have 4-5 out on loan who’ll come back in. That’s the real advantage of having that depth - we can lose several and still have experienced players to step in.

Few positions will remain to be a problem though and need replacing, I agree.

Just an observation, but how many times is Andoumi going to make great runs and be through on goal only to choose the wrong option or sky his shot when it actually looks easier to score? It happens so often and it happened again last night and it's very frustrating!!!

For some reason, I could get a signal at the Etihad last night.

At half time I went for a pint and was listening to everyone having a laugh and a joke, smiles on their faces, generally in an upbeat mood and no complaints about the performance. Then I had a little look at this thread. Embarrassing is the perfect adjective.

Logged off again in about 20 seconds. Never been so happy to be at a game.

"De Bruyne, Doku and Foden playing as a front 3".
Where was Alvarez playing then?

Playing Man City away over the last 60 years has always been painful, it wasn't just last night!

I remember waking up on 29th December 2001, the day after my 22nd birthday. Off to watch us at Maine Road, we were top, City were 2nd in what is now the Championship, 4 points behind. Everything seemed right with the world.

We got smashed 5-1, 4-1 down by half time. And we’d already been beaten 4-2 at the Turf early season.

It has always been thus.

Well you’ll at least remember the 6-0 one last year then, which trust me was far worse.

At 70 minutes or so we had fans streaming out and barely anyone left at full time. Last night the majority stayed and clapped the lads off.

Wow even then 😮 that was even before they had any money.

I stopped watching after 70 😞 I was tired and didn't sleep well the night before in my defence.

Not really because we have 4-5 out on loan who’ll come back in. That’s the real advantage of having that depth - we can lose several and still have experienced players to step in.

Few positions will remain to be a problem though and need replacing, I agree.
Are those going to be anywhere near the quality that we lose though?
I think at least 10 will go in the summer if relegated

Might be getting games mixed up, but wasn't that 4-2 loss in a big way, down to Nicky Weaver pulling off a few worldly saves to keep us out?
Seem to think he did that a couple of times against us.

There was a 4-2 win for City early in the season. I was at uni in Manchester at the time and came back on X43 for it. The return trip after the game was less than enjoyable.

Seem to remember we were right in that game until a last minute settler made it 4 for them. Goater got 3.
