Survey regarding Welsh Language
Just had an email from the club thanking me for renewing my season ticket and giving a link to a survey. Clicked on the link, started off with standard questions regarding age, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation. Then asked whether I read, wrote or spoke Welsh which seemed a strange thing to ask. There were no further questions.
Just wondered if anybody else had received the same survey link and also if anybody knows the significance of the questions regarding Welsh. Could understand it if we were a a Welsh club but just appeared a very strange thing to ask the Burnley fanbase.

Re: Survey regarding Welsh Language
Isn't Welsh the only other recognised spoken language in the UK?
They're just ticking boxes.

Scots Gaelic.
Also nods to Irish Gaelic, Cornish, and Romany.

Roeddwn i'n meddwl bod yr arolwg yn berthnasol, a ddywedodd fy mod wedi bod ar wyliau carafán i Ynys Môn felly mae gennyf hawl i gael barn.

Re: Survey regarding Welsh Language
Not received anything but my mate has and was querying the Welsh language question.
Re: Survey regarding Welsh Language
I’ve completed it. I’m a 75 year old black Chinese transsexual Muslim welsh speaker.
Re: Survey regarding Welsh Language
I hadn’t thought of that. Could take me a while to get ready.

Re: Survey regarding Welsh Language
If we are including Welsh then we should include Iberian Brythonic… the Celtic language of the North West England (often misnamed Cumbic).

Re: Survey regarding Welsh Language
Not sure I've ever met anyone claiming to speak Iberian Brythonic, let alone see road signs written in it or have a whole pub suddenly start talking it when I walked in.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2024 5:21 pmIf we are including Welsh then we should include Iberian Brythonic… the Celtic language of the North West England (often misnamed Cumbic).
To be fair though, if you said you did, I'd be unable to prove you couldn't!

Re: Survey regarding Welsh Language
Maybe not but there is a move to have Cumbrian Celtic recognised (that is Iberian Brythonic) speaking Welsh used to be punishable and held on by it’s fingertips… Cornwall was seen as a dead language and is now recognised as back. Lancashire dialect owes as much to Celtic as German and French.

Bizarre questionnaire. I can only presume it was a Wrexham one, but we got it as well.

That's weird, my mate in Cardiff got a survey asking about Benedictine, Haffners pies and the Pendle Witches.

Re: Survey regarding Welsh Language
I had the same questionnaire. Thought the Welsh bit was a bit weird but just crashed on regardless. Maybe should have included Lancy;
Hasanyonya anyonya?
Lerrus gerrus couts on.
He's oining me to death
Itintintin reyt
And so on.

They're trying to find anyone who can understand Connor Roberts, just in case he comes back.
