Can be a handful. Scored 12 PL goals this season. Could have done with a striker who can score that many.

Been terrible today, but he’s a perfect striker for a lower half PL club.

Not far off 70 PL goals and almost 1 in 3. He’s also been in double figures in 5 seasons.

If we had someone in double figures this season, we may well be out of the bottom 3.

Foolish to knock a proven Prem player.

Particularly when he could be key to their survival at our expense

He scores goals but doesn’t do too much else. Scoring goals at PL level is one of the hardest things to do though. Bound to score against us.

Mocking a proven goalscorer at this level, when our top scorer is Jacub Brunn Larsen with 6 goals

Talk about tempting fate.

Nobody liked his comments upon leaving us. He got lucky when the Saudis offered him a contract he could never have dreamt of.

I didn't blame him for taking the money. He could just have kept his mouth shut though.

He IS a good lower PL club scorer. His stats prove it.

Not a good omen, last time we faced Wood on the last day of the season at home we got relegated from the Premier league

He'll miss some sitters and score some you wouldn't expect.

Always been that way but you can't knock his record.

He holds the ball up consistently. He heads everything. He flattens defenders. He knows how to score.

Worth his weight in gold.

Fair enough, but that had far more to do with us failing to show up than Wood turning up….

The Chris Wood we sold to Newcastle wouldn’t get a game for Burnley Belvedere let alone Burnley FC. He was REALLY bad for the last 1.5 seasons - WEAPONS GRADE bad.

Had some good seasons at this level, and arguably his best football was played with us, and I was a fan for quite a while, but unarguably, his worst football was also with us.

He was unlucky today, still a very good player, did an excellent job for us and many were writing him off two seasons ago. Just hoping if it comes down to the last game that we can mark him and others out of the game.

His weight value in gold would be about $7mill, so even taking into account his age, you’re right!

He was chronic in the last year or so he was with us and generally was soft. Frustrated me so much that he's an absolute unit and didnt really put himself about.
To add balance to that he was a very effective and valuable source of goals prior to that. Even when he was in form I always thought he could be far better if he used his physical attributes though.

Brilliant

When somebody says someone else is worth their weight in gold it is meant to be hyperbole. That it is literally true sums up the Premier League insanity

Excellent player and a Clarets legend for keeping us up several times. His chances today were largely slightly behind him. Not as easy as they looked.

Bizarre the amount of criticism Wood gets from Burnley fans. He was great for us and has had a very good career with much of it at the top level.

Oh yes, he was really that bad in his last 1.5 seasons that he played 50 games and scored 15 of the 44 goals we scored in those games.

Some bizarre comments on here,it’s a fair to say he’s a PROVEN premier league player. Not a top notch one but he’s playing in the league he belongs.Consistently good also didn’t get a crack of the whip at Newcastle but they wanted more with the Arab money.

Just to add some balance to this thread

On the radio before the City game on Sunday they were saying that Chris Wood this season has a better chance to conversion rate than anyone in the top 5 leagues.

Better than Mbappe, Haaland etc

Scored 10 in his last 15 games

He's always been a streak player, hopefully after Sunday he is on his down streak again.
