Re: Bundesliga
It's incredible isn't it. Fantastic attendances up and down Germany but HSV some of the best. Down the road, St Pauli average a couple hundred under 30,000. Definitely a city which loves it's football!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 8:20 pmThey’ve just said on commentary that it’s over 57,000 tonight

Re: Bundesliga
I suppose HSV benefit from having been one of the big clubs in German football for so long. Despite a few years hanging on in the Bundesliga and now five years in 2 Bundesliga, they’ve retained the numbers watching them.
Re: Bundesliga
Definitely. They aren't called Der Dino for nothing! Also big city, big catchment area. Was there in February, great city. Enjoy just wandering around the St Pauli and Altona parts of town, the Reeperbahn and the Fish Market.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 8:27 pmI suppose HSV benefit from having been one of the big clubs in German football for so long. Needed a goal early second half but they’ve conceded one. That should be that.

I remember watching PU years ago. Non league if I remember rightly. About 1989/90 ish. Lived in elsen village for a couple of years. Loved paderborn.paderbornclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 9:24 pmPrice increase announced for the 23/24 season here in PB.
Terrace ticket now €14,50 for adults, €7,25 for 15-17 and €4,50 for 7-14. Under 7 is free.
A terrace season ticket costs €217, 50 for 17 games.
Can't complain.

All over, if it wasn't already. Handbags after the goal.

Went to Hamburg last year spent time with St Pauli fans after their game, they referred to HSV as the establishment club and the posh boys whereas St Pauli are very much for the working classClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 8:27 pmI suppose HSV benefit from having been one of the big clubs in German football for so long. Re: Bundesliga
That I don't know, I suppose that's how the Sheffield United fans used to describe Wednesday when I lived over there years ago. I've just had this rather weird interest in HSV since we played them in the European Cup when I was absolutely amazed as a child that we were playing against a team from Germany or West Germany as it was then. One day I will go to one of their games.Vanders1994 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 10:00 pmWent to Hamburg last year spent time with St Pauli fans after their game, they referred to HSV as the establishment club and the posh boys whereas St Pauli are very much for the working class
Re: Bundesliga
I once did the ground tour at HSV,theres a special section in the museum dedicated to our match against them,i could even press a button and watch the goals. As impressive as the ground is,give me FC St Pauli as a club anyday
Re: Bundesliga
Hamburg, Schalke and Herta in the 2nd tier.
Arminia Bielefeld back to back relegations it looks like, 6-1 down on aggregate in the playoff atm.
The German fans are the best in the world and it’s not even close, real shame English fans are robbed blind for tickets.

The days of TuS Paderborn Neuhaus and the Regionalliga West and the Westfalen Pokal.
Presently watching Bielefeld being relegated to the 3 Liga
Re: Bundesliga
This Friday St Pauli can seal promotion to the Bundesliga... With a victory in the Hamburg derby against HSV. Not quite winning the league like we did but what a way to do it!
Re: Bundesliga
Was the Musik Laden nightclub still going when you were living there?
I was stationed at Churchill Barracks, Lippstadt from 81-84. We used to go about once every month. What a fantastic place with a main dance floor & bar, a restaurant & a quiet pub/bar with pool tables.
I can't remember exactly where it was but I think it could have been between Elsen and Paderborn.

Don’t remember that particular bar dazzler… I was stationed in Alanbrooke barracks, and we headed off into town for drunken shenanigans at the Movie Star bar, the saage bunker (cider bunker) the black and white and the holzwurm just outside the camp gates.Dazzler wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 7:09 pmWas the Musik Laden nightclub still going when you were living there?

I also believe it would be the first time St Pauli have ever finished higher than HSV! Praying it happens for them. Thoughts also with Hamburg Police on Friday night, they will have a busy evening either way

Hi ya Bobinho did you never venture to the Hollywood in Schloß Neuhaus or Savoy and the George in town all run by Zita? I was also stationed in Allenbrooke Barracks BFPO 16 for 5 years.

Eleven points ahead of HSV as it stands. Been top for much of the season, HSV currently sit outside the top three automatic spots.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 7:58 pmI also believe it would be the first time St Pauli have ever finished higher than HSV! Been to St Pauli a couple of times. The neighbourhood is class and the football good too. Atmosphere and general vibe is fantastic. The Millerntor is a great stadium too. It's what the Turf should be.

Yeah it's a brilliant stadium, I have been a few times myself and loved every minute. I have been to HSVs stadium as well for a derby game against Bremen, but it wasn't as enjoyable as the Millerntor. Never a dull minute spent in HamburgPickles wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 8:57 pmEleven points ahead of HSV as it stands. Re: Bundesliga
Can anyone recommend any blogs/youtubers or their own experiences for travelling to German football?
I'm thinking of going one weekend in September and trying to get at least 2 games in. I understand the area around cologne is a hotbed for football teams.
Thought of possibly getting a game or two in around this area and then going to Berlin and getting on a hertha Berlin game due to their massive stadium. All this depends on the fixtures, obviously.
I've downloaded the bundesliga app and it posts links for each clubs ticketing site, has anyone tried this?
Cheers

Re: Bundesliga
Was at the Olympiastadion last Friday night for Hertha v Hannover. 60000 there for a 2nd division game and it was bouncing throughout until Hannover equalised in the 92nd minute. If you weren't watching the game, you might not realised either team had scored as the noise level doesn't change. Most excellent experience, great stadium.

I'm off to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, they are playing against Nathan Tella's Leverkusen.
I'm in the Nord West Kurve, which is the fun bit. Got tickets through a mate who has a season ticket but he's away.
Like Quoon said, you wouldn't have a clue who is winning, as it's just noise constantly.
Video of Eintracht Here, it's long but great to watch.

I'm in Frankfurt nearly every month - and Eintracht have one of the best atmospheres in German football. If you're staying near the Hauptbhanhof, head to O'Reillys just over the road. Viel Spaß !

I've been to Eintracht a few times this season, I'm keeping an eye for a season ticket next year but they are like gold dust.
Happy to meet up at some point if you're over regularly.

He ran the Eintracht left back completely ragged and was unlucky not to score.
Not the best scoreline but my lad loved it, so that's all that's important!
