Looking for a shirt for my dad - 1965

Post by distortiondave » Thu May 09, 2024 10:40 pm

My dad wants a 1965/66 long sleeve shirt to wear in his dotage.

Was this shirt ever commercially available, or a retro version, or does anyone have one they want rid of?
He verily does not want the V-neck championship shirt, nor the blueless sleeves of the 70's shirt, which I can easily find online.

He asks for very little so I'd like to accommodate him if I could, but googling leads only to disappointment.

I’d say it will be very hard to find one, but good luck.

Just did a search on Toffs, as I thought it was the best bet. Probably need to find a former players shirt… which will be especially difficult because I think they used to use the previous seasons kit for training. Sadly George Bray is no longer around to ask.

I wear nothing else wherever I go, my other half has just bought me a pair of black for her daughter’s wedding (but I’ve hidden them)… get them in “squad” purchases (usually 17 pairs at a time) :?

I had a TOFFS shirt from that season but have recently parted with it. It isn’t on their current page.

Gosh that picture brings back memories of my first game in the now Bob Lord stand (not sure what it was called then) standing in the section behind players, great times.

Do Toffs not do one like that? I have one at home but have had it years.

Just checked - no longer on their website

Great product but they are currently very poor in Burnley produce.

I'm afraid I can't help you in terms of the shirt, dd but I wondered where you dad's dotage was?

It's always been a dream of mine to own a small dotage somewhere near the doast.

I’ve just had a quick look and managed to find this if any help ?

Only just seen this. Anyone know why Ralph Coates is missing from the photo?
