TST
Starting a thread for the TST in early June, not long now.
Understand it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m looking forward to this. Will be good to see JJ representing Burnley and something fun/lighthearted after a depressing season.
Excited to see who JJ & Kealia will have lined up to play for us. Hopefully we can give it a good go and progress in to the latter stages.
All games free to stream.

Re: TST
18 players in the squad
7-a-side
20 minute halves
Game must end on a goal, so…
At FT all games go in to an unlimited period of ET. If the winning team score next they win, if they don’t the losing team can keep scoring until they score 1 more than the opponents goal tally at FT (e.g. a team losing 5-3 at FT could win 5-6).
$1m prizes for both teams which presumably goes to the players.

If we do I fancy our chances next season in Group C against AU Vodka Swans and Tobacco Road FC. It will all depend on closed season decisions though of course.

Expect one or two UK YouTubers/content creators in the squad but not necessarily ones who support Burnley.

Re: TST
Was thinking of going but we play at 830am and 6pm on Wednesday and in the evening on Thursday so you’d have to pay for 3 sessions at circa $40 a session
(plus travel hotel etc). The last game is on ESPN as it’s against McAfees team I think.
Anyway team news is in : Watt, Watt, Simm, Ingleby, Juliet Bravo, McKellen, Anderson, DeFour, Duff, North, Kettley, Fishwick, Milltown Brothers, Chumbawamba

Anyone know which teams the players come from? Is it under 21’s or something? Or have I missed the point completely - are they fans?

Re: TST
Our actual team actually looks quite strong.
JJ Watt, Kealia Watt, Marvin Bartley, Matt Briggs, Ethen Vaughan, Connor King, Vizeh, Chris Eagles, Marcel Lewis, Marvin Sordell, Renaldo Torraj and Terratep Winothai.
The coaches are Paul Jenkins (head coach), Richard Jackson and Charlotte Staines

Re: TST
It is Seven 'A' Side - so I would imagine JJ Watt and Vizeh will anchor things at the back. Eagles given a free role floating behind the legendary Terratep Winothai. Eagles better on the wing but VK will prefer to see him in a 'number ten' role. Sordell as the 'impact sub'. Plenty of options for legendary former Premier League assistant manager Paul Jenkins to play with.

To be fair, i said it was a strong side due to knowing only 4 players from the other 3 teams in our group combined.forzagranata wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 2:54 pmIt is Seven 'A' Side - so I would imagine JJ Watt and Vizeh will anchor things at the back. Re: TST
Winothai has 16 goals at international level with Thailand - what a random addition to this squad! Sounds like a bit of fun if not taken too seriously.

JJ Watt and Pat McAfee going head to head should be fun. Wouldn't want to get in-between them.

Although I shouldn’t be surprised. Seems to me that the podcasters just moan a lot these days which is probably why I have no interest in listening to them, so sort of tally’s that they wouldn’t be interested in something I’m looking forward to.

Women's 'Burnley' team is also announced - not a single player from the Burnley women's team. US-based team. JJ Watt's sister-in-law on the team and a You Tube free-style player with 1.7 million instagram followers.

Re: TST
I assume that would be due to our women’s team not wanting our professionals to play in a celebrity 7 a side in case of serious injury. Just like no men’s first team players are in the men’s TST team.forzagranata wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 5:18 pmWomen's 'Burnley' team is also announced - not a single player from the Burnley women's team. Several youth team/development players in the men's squad - Marcel Lewis etc. Would have been a nice experience for some of the women's players to go out there - but I guess it's not about them.

I decided to use Google:
https://www.soccer.com/guide/tst-soccer ... -explained
From this I gather it's hasbeens and others that make up the teams in The Soccer Tournament.
