Re: Kompany out?
Mark Robins a journeyman manager who has achieved absolutely nothing in like 7 Championship seasons OR an absolute pillock of a man who has zero experience.
Tough choice

Re: Kompany out?
Actually laughed my head off at that Ashley Cole suggestion
Re: Kompany out?
Mark Robins is a good manager. Probably would be a Premier league manager if O'hare hadn't done his knee last season.

Can’t wait until we start winning again next season so these unbearable fans give it a rest about changing the manager.

Not sure Mark Robins would be best advised to leave Cov, but not a bad choice if we ever need a new manager.
Re: Kompany out?
You are something else.
Anyone with any nous would realise that Robins is a much more astute manager than Kompany.

Our final match of the season approaches, win or lose, how are you going to thank the Club, manager and players?
Is it time to look forward to next season and finally chant "Vincent Kompany's claret and blue army"?

You could also argue that he's taken them from League 2 to the Championship on a shoestring, and developed/identified/sold some really good players on the way - and was also a sh1te VAR call from an FA Cup final.
Good manager.

Re: Kompany out?
Based on what exactly?
What has he ever achieved apart from promotion from League One?
He’s had like six years in the Championship and hit the play offs once…..
VK has had one year in the Championship and we know how that went
Re: Kompany out?
Yeah he’d be a great choice if we were in League Two, he’s done absolutely nothing to warrant a job here assuming we’re looking at automatic promotion and not survival. Recency bias is all it is, you seen them play Man U on the TV.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 2:12 pmYou could,

Re: Kompany out?
What had VK or Dyche done to warrant a job here before they were appointed?
Robins has had 2 promotions and is massively over achieving relative to their budget - heck he's even sold players on for a huge profit, isn't that what 'the model' is?
Not calling for him to replace VK but to suggest that he's a 'journeyman manager' is plain wrong.

Re: Kompany out?
NO -he was seen in Trattoria Bella-mia
Re: Kompany out?
Kompany out...or is Kompany going of his own volition? This TBR article suggests the latter....but I thought he was in it for the long haul? Isn't it part of a plan to buy raw but potential talent, develop....and then sell for profit?
Well this season hasn't been that convincing, but Mark Robins is a little like Kompany in that he's achieved in lower leagues but he hasn't managed in the PL.
Stick with what we've got let him unravel the financial mess of £100m 'invested' in players and see where we are at by Christmas.

Re: Kompany out?
It’s not black and white like you are trying to argue.
When you add context into it you will see what Robins has had to work with and how he has progressed. VK got handed the keys to a club with a much larger budget and better squad of players than Robins has ever had. Robins has steadily improved Coventry from L1 to knocking on the door of the championship playoffs in short time with very limited resources. Sounds like he’s done a cracking job to me.
It’s like saying Sergio Perez is a better driver than Fernando Alonso because he finishes higher than him in the drivers championship, whilst completely forgetting the difference in their cars.

I didn't say he wasn't a good manager, he's done well at Coventry but he's not someone I'd want managing us any time soon tbhCoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 2:12 pmYou could,

Robins is doing ok at Coventry, we need more than ok, we need to be challenging at the top, something Robins has never done in his entire managerial history (and he’s no spring chicken). Even Ian Holloway and Aidy Boothroyd have managed play off wins to sneak a promotion on their resume.

Re: Kompany out?
It’s like saying Sean Dyche is a better manager than Pep Guardiola he’s just not got the same tools, it’s pure nonsense. The best get the top jobs, like in F1 the best drive the best cars.Shaggy wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 4:05 pmIt’s not black and white like you are trying to argue.

If Robins was such a great manager he wouldn’t be stuck at the likes of Barnsley, Huddersfield and Coventry. The reason he hasn’t been poached is because he hasn’t achieved anything, you can cry about budget all you want, Dyche managed automatic promotion on nothing. At least Robins has 2 strikers he spent £10M+ on at his disposal.
Pretending Robins is better at challenging for automatic promotion than VK in the Championship is pure stupidity. Their records don’t even belong in the same sphere.

Ah but just think that if they keep saying VK leaving it eventually one day it will happen and then they will say TOLD YOU !!!!. now that may be next week, next month , next year, next decade , or even longer but just remember who told you he was going first!
Re: Kompany out?
The only thing Kompany has won is the championship and he has failed on a spectacular level this season. A failure so bad that he is lucky to still be in a job. Managing Anderlecht he should have won silverware in a glorified farmers league and never managed that. Kompany like Lampard and Gerrard get a better leg up into management because of their reputation as world class football players.KRBFC wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 5:10 pmIt’s like saying Sean Dyche is a better manager than Pep Guardiola he’s just not got the same tools, it’s pure nonsense. Most people can see the failures that Kompany has made this season yet he hasn’t even attempted to rectify them. He won’t change his tactics or playing style. Doesn’t bode well for a manager to be so pig headed. Dyche was the same, except his style was at least more suited to prem survival.
Robins would be a fine alternative to Kompany who realistically would need to be replaced if he can get us promoted again.
Re: Kompany out?
Well, if VK waves a lot on Sunday then he’s 100% off.
Re: Kompany out?
Mr K has learned a few things this season. It took a long time.
He still needs to forget the Pep way of creative goal scoring and learn the Pep way of eventually harnessing Aguero and then buying Haaland, without driving out the goals.

Not said that I want him to replace VK but relative to his budget has performed very well.
Aye and that bloody Sean Dyche that you wouldn't stop banging on about how sh1t he was ended up at a far bigger club than ours and would do a job anywhere - he just isn't fashionable.
On your sh1te F1 analogy - did Lamps deserve the Chelsea gig then?
Also, do you know that Robins is a European Cup winner?
Do you......... know anything about.... anything?

Re: Kompany out?
I presume his agent has let it be known that Brighton want him, not a chance they want him after this season, Took him 28 games to work out playing a rookie doesn't work.
I really think hes on thin ice at the moment, wouldnt surprise me if hes potted half way through next season the amount of players he has ostracised, whos going to want to play for him?
Need to get rid of at least 10 players this summer, big job for Vinny that.
People are forgetting its not the same manager that walked through the door that starts next season, has he become the Belgian Lampard?

Re: Kompany out?
Mark Robins has had all sorts of issues presented by the very unstable Coventry. He has worked miracles.
Luton's Rob Edwards is a special manager for clubs needing results.
Mr Kompany needs to bend his Pep experience and also try and retain a squad.
You cannot changeout your squad every season. It takes too long to find a rhythm.
All his managerial career has been the mass change.
Proves nothing. Offers excuses.

Re: Kompany out?
Suspect his pride has been severely damaged and hes hurting-24 points, two home wins, and losing nearly 30 points from winning situations would rock anyone, particularly when you have been on the same pedestal resulting from winning the Championship in some style. I keep reading from posters that he will be wiser and will have learned from this season. Thats a fair point but surely we should have seen clear evidence of this from November onwards ?? Some very interesting times ahead in the next 2-3 monthsSuperjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 6:49 pmHas he genuinely learned Ian or do you think he caved in finally due to the extreme pressure placed on him by fans, directors, chairman?

Re: Kompany out?
In the (hopefully not true) scenario that we sacked Vinny, I’d be disappointed with Robins. Hes a nice guy, done a really decent job at Coventry but I would think he has got no pull, limited contacts and has thus far failed to get Coventry promoted despite spending ‘quite’ well comparative to some other clubs that have made the jump. Rob Edwards would be a far better shout in this scenario albeit he’d have to give assurances he could develop his playstyle to work with this type of squad.
In my opinion - We need to stick with Kompany - just like we needed to when we got relegated in 2015 under Dyche. Yes, he’s spent a Kings ransom on a pick and mix of shite in some places but he will get us promoted. His style works wonders at this level. Now, IF we are back up in August 2025, and we start poorly, I’ll be happy to have the conversation then. He needs to have learned his lessons from this season. That’s a more than reasonable perspective.

Pacey is probably lining up Cashley Cole for the player/manager role.
Could kill two birds with one stone given the problems we have in that position.
