One is pragmatic, down to earth people person, good motivator and coach. Gave us a one club mentality and left a legacy.
Then there’s the other one.

Yeah, the Championship winning season under VK didn't exist. Granted, though, this season has been shite.Mixedkompany wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 2:33 pmOne is pragmatic, down to earth people person, good motivator and coach. Gave us a one club mentality and left a legacy.

Re: Everton’s manager
Correct the rumours are Dyche himself is considering his options regarding the off field turmoil. From what I heard he may be just waiting until another Prem club has a vacant managerial position.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 1:54 pmOP pointed out that it's not his job being under threat but him potentially walking away from it
I just posed the coming back question for a bit of debate.
It does pose the other question, how bad a state are Everton really in? and/or does Dyche think that maybe a new ownership will fancy a more dynamic rather than pragmatic manager?

Re: Everton’s manager
Unfortunately, little about Kompany suggests he will reflect on his mistakes. Seems a nice bloke but does give off the air of a bit of a 'know it all'.Anonymous Claret wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 1:28 pmVK- An unexpected breath of fresh air and a complete surprise to see how we won the Championship after a complete rebuild playing some scintillating football. This season he has made plenty of mistakes around recruitment and selection. Hopefully he will have a few weeks off and reflect on the mistakes he made and how he can improve. I believe that he will and I am already looking forward to next season. UTC
As for SD - I think he'll be back in charge of Burnley at some stage in his career. But maybe it won't be until we are under the next ownership.....

Re: Everton’s manager
Given the serious financial problems, with no guarantee of a new owner in the short term, and further potential points deductions.
He would be right to consider his position, particularly in the close season when management mobility is high. He will be seeking assurances on players and investment.Given the purchase by 777 is in serious doubt who’s going to provide such assurances?
I’d have him back of course but doubt he would come. Certainly not with this board and us in the championship.

Me too.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 12:25 pmI’d have him back tomorrow. Everton would be crazy to ditch him. They’ve won 48 points under him this season with that squad.
Fed up with all this purposeless passing and many mistakes!

Re: Everton’s manager
I hope that you're wrong but I doubt we will know until next season. Some of his decisions around selection and formation were baffling at times last season, especially keeping Trafford as number 1 for as long as he did.forzagranata wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 3:14 pmUnfortunately, little about Kompany suggests he will reflect on his mistakes. However Dyche refused to bring in Stephen Ward at LB and move Ben Mee to CH until we were spanked at Hull on boxing day in the Championship winning season. Dyche also refused to drop Hart in the 2018-19 season until the 5-1 home defeat against Everton.
Dyche and Kompany have a lot of similarities in their personalities. They are both incredibly driven to succeed, very intelligent, hard working and knowledgeable. Stubbornness although occasionally a character asset has also proved to be a failing for both of them at times.

British managers get less and less opportunity. Hopeless continentals get the jobs.
Re: Everton’s manager
Big risk if he walks i think. He'll struggle to get another Premier league job.

Re: Everton’s manager
Or I could see him at either West Ham or Leicester
Re: Everton’s manager
By Christmas Ipswich will want him.
Re: Everton’s manager
West Ham let Moyes go because the fans didn't like his style of football, no way they'd go for Dyche.
Re: Everton’s manager
There isn't a single reliable or even unreliable link to dyche leaving Everton.

West Ham have just binned off their most successful manager in decades for not playing the ‘West Ham way’ - whatever that is! Not a hope in hell they go for Dyche.

Yes, there may well be.
And SD may well be thinking along the same lines...

Back to SD… he may walk away in the knowledge that Southgate may vacate his position after the summer.

Re: Everton’s manager
His last season was the worst football I have ever seen Burnley play in my lifetime so it’s a no from me.
However he was hamstrung by Garlick so it’s not all his fault although he obviously coached the players to play that way.
We’ve got non winning boring passing football at the moment so that’s also a no from me too.

Re: Everton’s manager
Not saying it would work for SD but despite overwhelming feeling against his appointment David Moyes had far more success when he returned to West Ham than in his 1st spell.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 1:34 pm“Never go back” is an expression for a reason, that applies to our choices, the club’s choices as well as Dyche's choices. All would be crackers. The second coming would never work as well as the first (ignoring issues like whether he would get on with the board etc).
On balance though I would stick with Kompany, definitely. 2022/23, brilliant. 2023/24, reminded me of Eddie Howe at Burnley as a young manager, out of his depth at that club with that expectation at that level. I knew then that Howe would turn into a good manager, even though I wanted him potted, which luckily happened (I don’t buy into the talk about personal reasons).
Kompany is the same. Too young really for the Premier League, but won’t be in 15 months and will have learned a lot. If his style works it will be fantastic and young players are always great to watch. It just didn’t this season due to naivety and inexperience.

That last season of Dyche was painful.
Worse than this one? Too different to compare.

Re: Everton’s manager
Only 3 PL clubs have conceded less goals than Everton. SD is an absolute brilliant defensive coach as he showed with us, and has no doubt been a big factor in the development of Braithwait-one of the most sought after young British centre halves in this country

If that was the worst football you have ever seen Burnley play then I would presume that you haven't been on this planet for very long?Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 6:54 pmHis last season was the worst football I have ever seen Burnley play in my lifetime so it’s a no from me.

How many times have you been to Turf Moor this season?

Dyche was a great fit for us, should never have sacked him.

Re: Everton’s manager
Dyche had gone stale. The drive and desire he had in the first years at Burnley had gone. After the 7th place finish he expected to be given at least some funds to build a team that could compete in the Europa and match the 7th place finish again. Those funds never came. He was outbid on most of his transfer targets and I would presume it felt demoralising. We never recovered from that. He was then constantly hindered by the lack of funds and ambition from Garlick and had to settle with being the team that flirted with relegation. The new owners then came in and gave money to a young up and coming manager. Had Dyche had these funds I'm sure he would have had the team playing the exciting football in the Premier League that had won us the championship a few years earlier. Do I think he'd come back? Absolutely not.
