I was born in Manchester in 1959 and was initially on the books as a junior at Old Trafford. I played many games in lower leagues for two clubs in Yorkshire & Lincolnshire and my transfer between the 2 involved a swap deal with Graeme Crawford. I was then to become the first signing by a less than successful manager (who was an international defender) as I joined Burnley where I went on to play almost a 100 games before being released to join Peterborough. My time at Burnley was fairly undistinguished although I played a major part in what is widely regarded as Burnley’s most crucial game since WW2. I was associated as a pal with a legendary star from the world of cricket who had lined up alongside me during my days in Lincolnshire.
