There’s no way in hell Moyes drops to the championshipCoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 1:12 pmIf VK goes Moyes would be my #1 without question - I feel like we need an experienced head who's seen it all to get the dross off the wage books and I think it'd be good for the board to see how a vastly more experienced manager, who has been at a number of clubs, operates.
He plays with wingers, a 4-2-3-1 (like we have done) and would work well with the centre halves on our books. It's not that dissimilar to a squad that he's used to managing.
Failing that then I'm not sure.

Re: Next manager
No mention yet of Craig Bellamy? If (and surely it's still a big IF) Kompany somehow gets the Bayern job, is it inevitable that CB goes with him? Or might he fancy taking the reigns himself?
Not saying this would be my preference but I suppose it's a way of having continuity.
But is continuity really that important? Several times this season (and last season to be fair) players have seemed baffled by the tactics or the way the manager wanted them to play. A new manager with a fresh and more simplified approach might be just what some of our squad need. I don't agree with the idea that they are only here to play for Kompany.

Re: Next manager
If Kompany does go, I think the natural successor would be Graham Potter. I don’t think he has a job at the moment (I stand to be corrected on that), and his experience with the Brighton “project” would mean he’s a good fit for us.
Re: Next manager
Potter coming to Burnley would be a big surprise to say the least.

if you look at the 'style' of the players we have then Cooper would probably fit us well, got Swansea to a play off final, got Forest promoted and then kept them up.

I’m sure there are other candidates in the frame but it’s a lot of effort to go to for someone there is ‘no way in hell’ they’ll appoint.

Can’t understand how fans who have been so anti Kompany would be happy about Rosenior.

Ironically given my above post, was me being sarcastic NC.
NC93 suggested that 'no way in hell would Moyes drop to the Champ' - which I agree is unlikely... but then if VK can go from this season to Bayern Munich then heck, anything is possible.

I read today that 8/9 seriously considered candidates have already turned the job down and Tuchel stood by his decision to leave despite being asked by the club to reconsider. They seemed to have turned their attentions to Kompany because he once played in the Bundesliga and speaks German!

Re: Next manager
How does Knutsen play? I thought he was a bit more of a Klopp counter attack style from what I remember reading previously.RVclaret wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 1:19 pmCorberan my number 1 pick. Overperformed at both clubs in this league based on budget. Tactically flexible manager who can play several different styles. Would be interesting to see him given the best squad and largest budget in the league. I also think he’s smart enough to adjust to the PL challenge should we get there. Not sure whether he could be prized out of West Brom though.
Stylistically Rosenior and Knutsen fit the bill. Both like ball dominant teams and the transition to their styles would be minimal. The former is a bit of a Russell Martin style risk though given, like Martin, he didn’t deliver play offs - albeit again the play style would be very similar, while Saints had to completely change their approach, perhaps reducing that risk a touch.
Have to say he’s the one that I’d be most excited about…. Without actually knowing a single thing about him or Bodo Glimt

60% win record at two of his past clubs though and 50% at the other, albeit not at our level.
The others mentioned just feel so meh to me, far lower profiles, not much better records (or worse!) and underline to me how lucky we are to have Kompany.

All I can find in news articles at the time
‘Shilen Patel’s father, Kiran is estimated to be worth around $400 million (£318 million). It is believed that Shilen Patel himself has a net worth of around $100 million (£79.5 million).’
Quite a bit short of ‘billions’…

Knutsen I don’t know a lot about but he has a very good record at Bodo Glimt so that’s oddly the one I’d be most excited about but have to say in general would be left pretty deflated if Kompany left.
