The podcast isn't that good when they aren't moaning about something. At least I know I have something to look forward to when we lose from now on.

Indeed there is a sense of anticipation because you know full well that if we get tanked at old Trafford, the Pod Squad will fall off a cliff and decide there is not a shred of hope to be found anywhere in the Universe.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:47 pmThe podcast isn't that good when they aren't moaning about something. They go from Timmy Mallet to Marvin the Paranoid Android and back again within the space of a week.
Very entertaining though I have to say....!

Forest will be looking for at least three points against Sheff United, made me laugh.
Although, given recent events, Boden might not be far off the mark!

Today's episode is a debrief of the United game, a discussion about the amount of cheating and diving in the Premier League and then an examination of the current media focus on 'tragedy chanting' and social media amplification of such incidents.

Very poor indeed, heads need to roll
Maybe the delay is because they've finally got Boden a decent microphone, so he doesn't sound like he's taking part whilst sat on the bog.

Re: Brilliant New Burnley Podcast
Great podcast again, fellas. One of you you asked what the point exposure for this North Carolina Tournament is, and the answer is social media presence.
The more 'likes' and 'follows' the club has on social media, the more appealing it is to sponsors and investors. It's not really about winning over American fans and selling shirts. The club doesn't even want ordinary season ticket supporters who buy shirts, programmes, and the occasional pie, as they don't bring in much income, so winning more of them, albeit outside the UK, isn't worth it. Harvesting followers on Twitter is more desirable.

Good podcast indeed. I found the little feature about the FAB quite enlightening. Having spoken to a few members, it just doesn’t sit right. Interestingly, two people I’ve spoken to (although one I don’t know personally and it was just through Twitter), said that NO NDAs were issued. Now it turns out they perhaps were. How odd!!!

Ah, because obviously the first rule of NDA's is that you don't talk about NDA's. The second rule of NDA's is that you DO NOT talk about NDA's!jdrobbo wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 10:04 amGood podcast indeed. I found the little feature about the FAB quite enlightening. Good pod again chaps. A mix of positive and negative with regards to next season. Personally I'm with Simon.
"Just because he's won it once, doesn't mean he'll win it again"
Absolutely spot on. The club was on the crest of a wave after VK was appointed. Everything was positive and he seemed to has the midas touch all season. Next season will be different. The squad is a mess, there appears to be unrest with some players, and a lot needs sorting between now and August. This is the time we will find out whether VK really is what we thought he was 12 months ago.

Forget VK, it’s a massive season for the podcast ahead.
If the team fare badly again, the podcast will be confirmed as a jinx.

As for VK having the Midas touch, there were some elements of our support questioning him when we were continually throwing away leads late in games in the early part of the Championship campaign.
The negativity I see/hear seems to be from a small minority on social media, everyone I talk to is very disappointed with this season but confident of our chances next season due to how we have been transformed from the summer of 2022.
Re: Brilliant New Burnley Podcast
I mean the squad is a mess now. VK has a big job on his hands before the Championship campaign begins. We have over 40 senior pros on the books. We're not a big enough club to carry so many players - even if we have a dozen out on loan. First and foremost we need a clear out! Then we need to build a smaller squad with that same togetherness we had last season (granted it's easier to build a togetherness when you're winning every week!). How easy it will be is another question.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 9:04 amWe surely can't possibly know the squad is a mess until the season kicks off.

Listened to it now. Entertaining episode.
Can’t help but think having 5 panel members agreeing with each other has left it lacking a bit as the season has gone on. Clearly there’s a lot to agree on this year, but there’s nuance to some of the discussions that you’d think might occasionally lead to a divergence of views.
It’s not really a discussion. It just 5 people taking turns at making a point at times. There’s little follow up or push back to anything gets said.

Re: Brilliant New Burnley Podcast
Ha. Not at all.
If you take today’s episode as an example, it’s just a series of rants. Almost like the fans reaction stuff that Turcast do, but they are all in the same virtual room and there’s little discussion about the point made before.
Greavsie had a critical take on how Kompany goes about selecting his team and how it’s based on what he sees in training. Am I the only one listening thinking that I’d imagine most football managers base their team selections on the daily evidence of player ability to carry out a game plan? Likewise Boden bringing up Dyche without anyone ever countering about his **** those last 18 months were.
It’s only my opinion. Just prefer a bit more discussion,

Simon has outdone himself in this episode, has a clear obsession with JJ Watt, an episode about how poor the season has been and manages to find time to complain at JJ Watt for tweeting after the game. Had watt stayed quiet there would of been people calling him out for hiding

Re: Brilliant New Burnley Podcast
I think it's a bit unfair to suggest the Podders were not positive. Their quote of the season has to be 'it's a good time to play Arsenal'...!
I mean to be fair to them they did predict salvation more often than an evangelical Pastor at a Billy Graham convention.
I tend to think if the Podders had written the bible Jesus would have been resurrected about 23 times by the end of it he would be telling his disciples 'the Romans haven't been at it lately, I think it's about time we showed them who is boss'.

Re: Brilliant New Burnley Podcast
Ha to be fair I've really enjoyed it. And while the ability of the Pod Squad to get excited, based on what a cup half empty person like myself would consider the merest slither of pickings is mystifying, the weekly transition from despair to 'I think we can do it' and back to despair again has been very entertaining.
At the end of the day, it was ill fated from VKs decision to leave out Charlie Taylor and try and play Roberts on the Left with Al Dhakil having to cope with Son and Madison on the right, which was wrong on so many levels that I concluded at that point we were not going to make it.
The rest of the season was just awaiting the inevitable. I think the team has done well to compete and win 25 points tbh given the level of nonsense from the management team.
The only quibble is the assertion that we abandoned City lite. The Newcastle game was only a couple of weeks ago and we parked ourselves on the half way line to such an extent that Callum Wilson's well being was probably affected by loneliness and a sense of isolation as he had the freedom of half a pitch to roam about in by himself.
There was pragmatism but it was a very confused merging of City lite and a 4-4-2. Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimarães probably needed to extra training after the game to keep their fitness level up - it was so easy.
