Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Let him go. We can pocket some cash out of it.
But, I'd give the job to Bellamy.
Every time kompany gives an interview, I end up thinking "well that's just bollucks". When he's not there for some reason and Bellamy has taken over, he comes across as intelligent, hard working and with it. I may be wrong, but I imagine that if I'm fed up with listening to some of VK's interviews that the players must be wholly ****** off with it.
Hope bayern need a highly rated young back up keeper for 40 million while they are at it.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Would Bellamy make a good manager?
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
That's because we don't hear Bellamy often. If we did, his would become as stale and as odd as Kompany's have and as Dyche's did. For what it's worth, I think manager's do too many interviews, there's only so much they can say.timshorts wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 8:58 pmLet him go. We can pocket some cash out of it.

Exactly this. There was a lot of praise about VK’s interviews in the promotion season but the relentless nature of modern day media combined with the poor results start to make them wear thin.
Similar thing happened to Postecoglu at Spurs.

Good point on this. It’s usually the same questions every week, or flavours thereof, so same answers. And we all know there’s some things it’d be inappropriate or unprofessional to discuss so they have to dodge those questions.

Chelsea will now search for a successor and have expressed recent interest in Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna, Sporting’s Ruben Amorim and Burnley’s Vincent Kompany.

We all know football's a funny old game, but the suggestion that Bayern or Chelsea would be looking to poach the manager of a club that finished 19th in the Premiership and accrued only 60% of the 40 points usually seen as the survival line is ludicrous

Bayern have major problems and VK isn’t the answer with his extensive knowledge of Belgians in the £4m bracket.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Is there a single serious journalist who is reporting Kompany to be favourite for any job?
I can only find tweets by rumour peddlers and the German Sky Sports transfer reporter. A few main outlets have then reported the reports.
If any of these rumours had legs, it’s surprising that nobody serious has added their weight to this.

All starts to look like Kompany or his people fuelling rumours. He clearly doesn’t fancy another season in the Championship….so aim high and end up at either Brentford or Brighton. Would have preferred that he had stayed to clear up the mess he has made, but would not be unhappy to see the back of him

We have no real clue on the origin of all these rumours, but we can speculate. It seems to me that Kompany's 'team' (i.e, publicists, media contacts and agents) are doing a lot of self promotion, profile re-building and damage control to mask over the previous 12 months and ensure that the stigma of relegation doesn't prevent their golden goose from getting the types of jobs they were banking on before this season started. Whether Kompany is involved within that process, who knows - he might give these types carte blanche as part of their relationship to just look after his interests as such.

Fabrizio posted 5 hours ago that there has been no contact from Chelsea yet but talks took place with Bayern and Vincent is waiting to see who their first choice emerges as.
So he is being fed info by one of Vincent’s entourage, no doubt.
What we see now is that with Vincent we get a circus. Like a Beckham style celeb, desparate to get publicity all the time. Unsure if mid ranked teams like BHA and Brentford would fancy that. They like to fly under the radar.
Big contrast to someone like Steve Cooper, who would be an excellent replacement if necessary.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
This whole thing isn't sitting easy with me. It's clear that even if there is nothing in the Bayern rumours, the fact he's constantly having his name linked to jobs, stinks of his agent stirring the pot.
VK could have been sacked 4 or 5 times last season, but we stuck by him and his bizarre decisions throughout the season.
His comments in his latest presser "I'll never comment on my future" etc are ringing quite hollow now with the season we've had. Now is the time to be building a few bridges with fans. If he was committed then just saying "we've got a long term project here and I'm committed to this club " would have been the right thing to say.
I'm getting the vibe that if a decent offer comes in, he'll be off. Tbh I'm not that bothered, but I think we would have an almighty mess to clear up if he left, so for our stability as a club it would be better if he stayed to rectify a situation he has created.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Paying attention to the betting markets for clues on the next manager is crazy.
Kompany on skybet is 7/4 but can't have more than £120 on it, he is up to 6/1 on other sites.
Kieran McKenna is the favourite for the Brighton job and 2nd fav for the Chelsea job.
Tim Walter has been about 1/5 for best part of a week for the Hull job and yet skybet are happy to let you have £1250 on this bet
Poch is the fav for Man Utd job and 2nd fav for Bayern

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
The problem that Bayern face is that having decided upon a parting of the ways with Tuchel in February, the two men that they thought they had lined up to replace him decided either to stay in their current role or had taken another position. A fans petition calling upon Tuchel to remain in position led to a U-Turn with Bayern holding further talks with Tuchel only for him to confirm his departure. Hardly a ruthless sacking.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 8:27 amPlain barmy when you stop & consider they have actually ruthlessly sacked the likes of tuchel & poch for underperforming this would be as left field as there come.
As for Pochettino he publicly stated in an interview a few weeks ago that whether stayed on as manager of Chelsea beyond this season didn’t concern him one little bit. He only had 12 months remaining on his contract anyway. He reportedly held talks with the Chelsea owner(s) saying that to remain in post he would need a contract extension to complete the project and a greater say in transfer dealings.
I actually posted further up this thread yesterday that if Kompany was appointed the next manager of Chelsea that I would show my backside in Selfridge’s window. Thankfully shoppers in Oxford Street will be spared that sight.
Do I think that Kompany will be manager of Burnley in the Championship next season No.
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Furthermore, I think Vincent and his back room team have been poorly man managed by Pace and the board.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 10:23 amI just think we have several players who have been man managed very poorly by Vincent, and its a cleaner cut to wave goodbye to VK than several players. They have almost given him free rein to make a mess of things and now we are lumbered with an expensively assembled squad brimming with “potential” if you believe the hype.
The biggest worry as a supporter is that I think Pace and co. will seriously struggle to repair this damage if Kompany goes.
I genuinely hope his agent/advisors aren’t actively touting him for available jobs. If they are, it shows a serious lack of integrity on Kompany’s part after all of the trust and patience given to him by the board and the supporters.

It's virtually "free money" to them. The nonsense about maximum bets is also calculated to convince the gullible saps that there must be " something in it"
The emptyheads placing these bets are basically donating their hard-earned....I dont see many backable prices offered on VK NOT going to Bayern, which reaffirms the point.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Not sure if I'm missing the point or being naive here but VK signed a long term extension last summer. Yes there may be 'get out' clauses suiting either party but I would have thought us as a club are in a commanding situation when it comes to dealing with any potential suitors. It's not as if he's only got 12 months of his contract to run.
The board appear to have been unwavering in there support for VK during this very difficult season and have, in Burnley terms backed him to the hilt. Surely that must carry some weight should, and I emphasise should he be considering what options are out there.

Sorry, but you are posting absolute nonsense on a subject that you clearly have very little or no knowledge about. As somebody who was once friendly with a director of a major London club and used to be privy to information on managerial changes well in advance of them becoming public knowledge, I can tell you categorically that such bets are restricted by all major High Street bookies.
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
He’s odds on now. There may well have been some lumping on after yesterdays “news” however the bookies aren’t usually far off the mark with these.
