It's absolutely mind-blowing that all of this looks like it might be going ahead. If it does, surely it's up there as one of the most staggering, jaw dropping managerial appointments in football history.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Yes, poorly worded by me. I meant that as Brighton aren't in Europe they'd have to fight us for him, including compensation discussions, but as Munich are in Europe we will probably have to accept any request for talks, probably with predetermined compensation.

Personally I think there's a lot that want out due to VK. I can't imagine any of Benson, Zaroury or Muric wanting to stay while he's here.bumba wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 4:23 pmDon't be so naive, how many of these players gave interviews saying they signed to play for VK?
Not a dig at Mark Robins but I bet they've never heard of him if it was someone like that they'd be asking to leave.
Championship and no VK will result in a lot wanting out.

Players soon lose faith in the manager when they go out on the field employing the same tactics and getting beaten every week.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
For me its quite clear he wont be with us next season, so the quicker this is concluded the better. I have posted several times that this season has had a damaging effect on his big ego. He won't have the stomach for another 46 match gruelling season with no guarantee of promotion. And even if we do he will realise with our budget and squad its unlikely we could avoid another PL relegation. I also sensed a real disconnect from our fans, emphasised in his interview immediately after Spurs when it was confirmed we were relegated in his flippant and insensitive style, when every claret worldwide was hurting. It came over as just another day in the office, and we are looking forward to the challenges of the new season.
To those saying its imperative he stays to sort out the mess, squad, who stays, who we buy. The mess will only get bigger if he stays. He cannot be trusted. The right manager and new back room team can sort this out-we still have some great talent and prospects. The new man may even remotivate players like Roberts, Benson, Zarourry who we know are good players in the Championship, and he could get a better tune out of Amdouini, Foster, Tresor and a few more

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
What a disappointment if he bails now.
The fans and the board, as a whole, have stuck by him despite this absolute car crash of a season and the first real chance he gets, he jumps ship and leaves the chaotic mess behind him.
When it was all truly awful around January he should have gone really and had it been any other manager he probably would have, but the board and fans stuck by him. At a time when we had a chance to replace him with a higher calibre manager because we were still in the Premier League, but we didn't, we showed him loyalty and he hasn't repaid that faith if he does leave and the rumours are true.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Still not convinced he’s going to be offered the Bayern job or a PL job. However, I’m a lot less certain than I was 24 hours ago.
Personally would be disappointed if he goes. For all our woes this season, last year was the biggest breath of fresh air and most enjoyment I’ve experienced since I started going on over 35 years ago. I back him to bring us back up and learn from his mistakes next time around in the PL.
He’d be mad to turn down Bayern, but I do think he’s taking a massive step. The expectation will be huge from day one and there’ll be no patience for any kind of failure. If he goes I genuinely hope he succeeds, but if he doesn’t he could have a real career setback that might take him years to recover from.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Not sure why people are surprised with the link to Bayern like it’s ridiculous. There is McKenna getting linked with Man U and Chelsea and his team got nowhere near our points total at Championship level. Also he has zero premier league experience.
The football business is madness at the best of times but Kompany to Bayern is no more ridiculous than many other examples. When you factor in style of play, he speaks multi languages, his quality as a player and the fact that his style will clearly work better with better players, it’s far from ridiculous. I would have been very surprised if he wanted another go at a league he has just produced 101 points in.

It seems, given the number of links (Brighton and Brentford etc) and the way the "Journos" are discussing Kompany, that he was being touted around by his Agent, so if it wasn't Bayern it would likely have been another if interest was shown.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Can't blame Kompany if he leaves to go to Bayern. In a similar way I'd say the same about Brighton. Much bigger platform and will take him a step closer to the City job.
That being said there was always a danger he could leave and it makes the fans that ate/eat up the 5 year stuff look a bit silly. Maybe everyone will start judging him on the two seasons we've had now as opposed to the next 3 mythical ones.
He's been a massive failure at this level in my opinion, and arguably showed he will never have the right skill set to manage a weak team in its respective division. That might not be a problem for Bayern but it will be for us if we get back to the PL. If we can get good compo let's thank him for the amazing season in the Championship and wish him well.
Even though I wanted him gone around Christmas and have been critical I still struggle to understand some of the abuse hes coming in for on here. We are talking about Bayern Munich- It seems that some of our fans feel even more strongly about it because they're a big club and we've just had a **** season. When a player goes to a big club its normally well you can't blame them for turning X down- I think it's fair to say the same for Kompany.

I am presuming the ones going in for the kill would obviously bat away any approach from a top level company in their own profession if they were headhunted.
Its even funnier when you realise the majority of them wanted Kompany sacked last month.
