Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Can I clarify something as a supporter for over 40 years. I want Kompany gone 6 months ago.
I am happy this man s happening!! I hope the players shafted feel as angry as I do and want to come back into the fold and prove him wrong!!!!
I am angry that such a failure can just walk away into a job with such stature in football!
This to me sums up where the game has got to!! It’s not about football it’s about talking the talk!!
Unfortunately that’s the situation we are currently in throughout all jobs in this country!! Talk the talk don’t bother walking the walk!!!

Danny Rohl or Fabregas seem like the best options.

Why would we play lesser quality players than we have just because they were part of a winning team last year? We have a better squad now. Someone has to miss outGrahamjack wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 10:21 pmMore informed????

Absolute masterstroke from Kompany and I’m sure we will financially be rewarded too. Burnley or Bavaria? Anyone with an ounce of sense and realism would do what he’s doing.
Also puts him back in line to replace Guardiola when he leaves City which would probably never happen while he’s here.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
So you’d have fired the guy who’s decimated the championship, built a team that had played our best football in a generation and embarrassed them lot down the road (including the everlasting memory of picking up the trophy at deadwood) because you knew it was going wrong on day one?Grahamjack wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 10:29 pmNo tantrum!!

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I have no real issue with him going to Bayern. But why if he was already looking at moving on did he decide to sign a bunch of youngsters who were nowhere near ready and sacrifice our Premier league status for his long term 'project'.
If you're not planning to see it through then it's absolutely pointless. We just go back to square 1 now and hope for another lucky appointment.

If/when Kompany does go, perhaps Mr Pace might be able to dupe him into buying Weghorst and Obafemi for good fees.

It’s more he’s protected his reputation and cv and relegated us in the process.
Compare that to Dyche who fought tooth and nail to keep us up for 6 years, despite the damage to his reputation because of his style of football.

Sign young players and try to 'play the right way' (whatever that means) and get battered every week to get a top job?
What a mental industry football is; I'm absolutely flummoxed.

Wow!!! Just wow!!!
This board and its contributors need to wake up and smell the coffee!
If someone challenges VK and his decisions that makes you crazy!!
I really don’t know what you guys were watching this season if you think all was well.
I don’t remember saying sack him at day 1. Maybe you need to re-read.
In October it was clear he has no idea!!!
We got vaguely close because of Muric and esteve and Cullen.
Two of which should have played all season.
Not a rant, not a tantrum, just fact

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Also surely the project is a Burnley FC wide one not just Kompany’s own.
I imagine our next appointment will be similar in terms of philosophy and style of play.
A lesson to our owners too, perhaps, that just because someone does well one season, doesn’t mean they deserve to remain at the helm when things are going wrong.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
There’s not a cat in hells chance he’s set the team up with questionable signings, to ship goals for fun and create the square root of f all chances to protect his CV. If he did, then that was one hell of a bold tactic.
The guy has got lucky and accepted a top 5 world football job when his name shouldn’t be anywhere near it.
Nothing more sinister.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Honestly this play the right way, possession based Pep Guardiola-love in football is going too far.
For the majority of this season we’ve been utter dross. No football fan, chairman, board member enjoys their team getting slapped about most weeks.
As others have said contrast Dyche’s reputation to Kompany’s. A man who kept us up for 7 seasons, on a shoestring of a budget compared to VK and got us into Europe. Yet whose managerial stock is supposedly higher?
It’s ******* bonkers.

About 30 well known managers would, including Carrick, Moyes, Cooper etc. Whether we want them is another matter. Not many bigger budget jobs will be available, if any realistic ones.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 10:44 pmNot that I’d want him, but he’d take this job in a breath.
Saw somebody on Twitter suggest Thierry Henry. Crazy I know, but can imagine the ownership being attracted to that.

Ok pointless trying to have a conversation with your closed shop view of the world
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Robins has done a decent job at Coventry and he / the club have certainly found a handful of decent players.
He’s moved around a bit and not pulled up many trees elsewhere. Strikes me as the sort of manager that has found a club that he fits well, and that’s where he should stay.

Yes.
I was a huge supporter 12 months ago, but now I see better the difference in skillset between a top manager and a top player. He was a tinkerman. Indecisive. Sensitive. Stubborn. Was always going to be outsmarted by elite managers who, on the whole, are clever guys too, like him, but are FAR more experienced.

This is absolutely hilarious I’ve got to admit the world has gone mad since covid.
A Burnley manager that has just got relegated on our lowest points total in the premier league era has been poached by Bayern Munich ! you couldn’t make this **** up.
Strange times we are living in!
Does he fancy an England goal keeper for £50m?
