Chris Wilder must be nailed on for the Real Madrid job if that’s the case?

Guy has accepted a job (he should be nowhere near) that many rejected, on very short terms, which happens to be one of the top jobs in football.

Nothing more sinister than that.
I can see the argument that he wanted to win but wanted to nail his style down more than that, to ensure the elite clubs know what he stands for, i.e. selfish with the future in mind.

It does though make the Trafford decision more baffling. Muric is much more like Neuer for example. So I’m not convinced by the argument, but I found the question interesting.

Robins has done a decent job at Coventry and he / the club have certainly found a handful of decent players.

He’s moved around a bit and not pulled up many trees elsewhere. Strikes me as the sort of manager that has found a club that he fits well, and that’s where he should stay.
Completely agree with that.

Just watching chief Mirror reporter John Cross on SSN.

Says it's hard to believe the appointment.
He appreciates that Kompany was trying to play a certain way but this biggest thing this highlights is his lack of adaptability.

Pretty obvious to most observers, neutral or otherwise.

Just to be clear I have watch 30 games this season and went to huelva preseason. I am a fully committed claret like many of you. But please stop thinking VK was ever into Burnley it clearly was not the case. Has been clear the whole of this season

It’s incredible that’s he going to get that job after that complete shower of a season. I really don’t know what to think about the club at the moment.

Also surely the project is a Burnley FC wide one not just Kompany’s own.

I imagine our next appointment will be similar in terms of philosophy and style of play.

A lesson to our owners too, perhaps, that just because someone does well one season, doesn’t mean they deserve to remain at the helm when things are going wrong.
I'm not entirely sure about that and I haven't been for a while. I can explain why:

When Dyche was here ALK talked about being the plucky underdog, wanted Dyche to stay and build an empire. They weren't wedded to a different style of play, maybe just a different profile of player.

Mission to burnley then shows them looking for candidates to replace Dyche and Kompany appears from no-where after a meeting with Pace in which he expressed his vision.

I don't think it's mentioned enough but I don't know if ALK have a vision beyond trying to make money in the long run. I think they'll just adopt whatever vision the next manager has.

Sky just now asking the media guests if Kompany didn’t care about results last year, just showcasing his style in the shop window.

Does make one wonder.
Not really, I don’t think he showcased any style (chopped and changed a lot, tweaked a lot - there was no real pattern in it that I could tell).

In the main was largely criticised for his style by the media.

Just catching up by skimming this thread and my closing thought for the day is:

If 4 of the coaching staff including Bellamy, Jackson and the GK coach have all left after Sunday, are we meant to believe there was any intention of Vincent to stay as well before the Bayern interest? Seems implausible. Also, we were only relegated with 7 days to go. If we had stayed up, would those coaches still have all left? Mission From Burnley?

Instinct - all was not well in paradise, people were thinking one thing and telling us punters another, and if we get £10m+ instead of paying that to sack them all 5 months ago, that may well be for the best. We move on, Forever Forward

Feel so differently to this, I think they’ve found some brilliant players - plucked gems from European leagues I’d never heard of who have done exceptionally well for us, largely for meagre fees/frees/loans.

Thats one thing I’m going to really miss about Kompany.

To clarify Bellamy and a few others leaving a few days ago, was this due to VK knowing he was going, or had something else happened?

It does though make the Trafford decision more baffling. Muric is much more like Neuer for example. So I’m not convinced by the argument, but I found the question interesting.
As has been touched on, his record this season has shown he has made questionable signings, failed to adapt to a more challenging league, failed to pick a settled team, failed to set up a defence and failed to set up an attack which creates enough chances.

The media (usually the ill informed ones) might point to him trying to apply a Man City style because it’s a lazy association. Realistically anyone who would genuinely analyse his performance in the PL, would be baffled at his appointment.

Maybe Bayern will quote a brilliant Deloitte and Touche report as to why they appointed him? ;)

Aye, Amdouni, Tresor and Trafford the best part of £50m spunked down the drain. The only signing who’s been good this season has been Esteve. A couple of meh ones and a load of junk.

Would love to know what Tony heard about Bellamy and the GK coach going. When they resigned, when they left, etc.

Because there’s no way on earth their departures now are not related to the Bayern role so they must’ve known about this a good while. Before our relegation? Possibly. That feels pretty grim - doing these interviews and huddles knowing he was off.

Trafford was a Euro U21 winner, now a full England squad member and actually made a lot of very decent saves despite playing behind a team leaking chances for fun. He’ll be sold for a profit.

Amdouni going to the Euros too. Money not spunked at all.

Tresor I agree but clearly some talent there to work on.

Koleosho, Odobert, Berge, O’Shea (poor start but eventually), top scorer JBL - all signed for peanuts. Assignon great potential.

Last season Muric, Annas, Benson, Tella, Maatsen, THB, Ekdal, AAD, Vitinho. All very cheap. Team storms the Championship.

Recruitment has been very good on the whole with a handful potentially wrong but no club gets every signing right.

It will be interesting to hear VK’s spin on how this all panned out so soon after the team huddle and after match comments on Sunday. His integrity will surely come under scrutiny in any future dealings when the Bayern adventure ends. Great that we will be getting compensation though and through it all no one person is bigger than our club.

Cheers Vince and thanks for the promotion season, dont think anyone in your position would turn down the chance to go to Bayern

I would like to think and hope this season has not been some "look at me and how I play" exhibition for a move like this as others seem to be saying that would disappoint me

OK, so Bayern may or may not have already considered other managers in 12 months time.
Man City, might be relegated at the end of next season.
Pep m8ght choose not to manage in the Championship.
Man City might be looking for a new manager.
Vincent Kompany might be available.
VK's 5 year plan completed in 3 years.

If he goes all i would say no 1 person is bigger than this club , we move on to another manager who i hope gets the players left out last season playing again for our club because from start of the season i knew things wasn't right just ditching players for kids who hadn't earned the right to wear the shirt...

We are stuck with a Shedload of VKs players which any new manager and club will need to sell or loan out.
Can't blame him going to Bayern, just disappointed in him personally and that he has left a bloody big car crash of a team squad behind him.

I got up at 4:30 a.m. in Portugal after over six hours' solid sleep. I sprung out of bed, straight on to here to catch up with this thread. I am delighted, assuming Kompany has left and we get good compensation. I was seriously worried about our direction had Kompany stayed.

I’m actually looking forward to a new manager coming in … I wish VK all the best even though I’m baffled by this appointmert I fully understand why he is going … this could be his only shot at the big time …. Decisions on and off the pitch have left me doubting whether we would gain promotion next season … I wish him all the best but we need to find a new manager that can guide us into the premier league .. I think with Pace we have a chairman who has proved he will back the manager so hopefully we can get a decent guy in

TalkSPORT just confirmed Bellamy is going with him
Mike McGrath initially said “ It is understood that Kompany will look to take his backroom staff with him to the Allianz Arena.”

He then later said “Craig Bellamy is unlikely to join Kompany as assistant at Bayern but could be one of the candidates under consideration at Burnley”

In honesty I don’t think that would be too bad a thing should it happen. In the games he stepped in he came across as calm & confident.

has it been confirmed he has gone
I'm not on socials with news feeds so get my info of here.
But a quick glance at skysports and it's says he has verbally agreed then if fairly sure he won't be coming back here.
