It really shouldn't be charged for, it's part of the same treatment.

I'm going to bring it up but they'll no doubt have a way round it.

Don't know if you've read the whole thread but they said operation, amputation or bandage it up for 6 weeks and see how it goes.

They'll probably say this is stage two of the treatment.

It's a lot of money for a bandage. but I agree. You should bring it up with them and get an explanation as to why it is ongoing treatment that is already paid for.

I’ve been a dog owner for many years.
In recent times, the cost of treatment, and the enthusiasm with which it is recommended once a vet knows your dog is insured , have hugely increased. I don’t remember the exact figures , but I’m sure I read recently that something like 60% of veterinary practices in the UK are owned by 6 venture capital businesses.

It's not so much a problem now I don't have to fork out the £3.5k upfront to claim it back.

My dog is adapting to walking on three legs and taking the bunch of pills she has ok now after a difficult start (loss of appetite)

I'm just in the dilemma of waiting the 6 weeks to see how it heals or just going for the operation.

These vet reports we've been reading are making me reluctant to line their pockets but I want my dog sorted as soon as possible.

Then my attention will be on making life as difficult as possible for this dog owner (legally of course)

I’d love to have a dog and I’m now in the position where I have the right working pattern which would make it possible.

However the vet costs have totally put me off. I’m sure I’m not the only one. We could see a serious dip in dog ownership in the coming years if this farce doesn’t stop
