What if, he doesn't leave? Eh
That would be awkward!
But no way he isn't leaving now, the opportunity for Kompany is too great for Burnley to get in the way, good luck to him and hope we get a good replacement

It's crazy all this.
Added to the fact that people are getting so bitter and upset despite 'giving him 10 games before deciding if he should be sacked'.
Just madness, all of it.

BBC:
"Taking over from Sean Dyche, Kompany transformed Burnley's style of play and earned them an instant return to the Premier League with seven matches remaining in the Championship - the earliest any side has ever been promoted.
Kompany was unable to keep Burnley in the top flight this season but he stuck admirably to his principles of possession-based football, which has no doubt helped to catch Bayern's eye."
That second paragraph must have been written by VK or one of his "camp".
Wasn't that long ago that the BBC were criticising him for naivety in not adapting his tactics. Strange that.

It's an interesting point. If he'd 'adapted' and gone direct then he wouldn't have got this opportunity. Look at Thomas Frank, nobody's taken him because he adapted to a much more direct and less entertaining brand of football to keep them in the league.
I also remember Gary Neville saying how his biggest regret at Valencia Was 'adapting' and not sticking true to his principles as it sent out mixed messages and they ended up a lost/confused bunch.

Think this will be one of those “be careful what you wish for” moments, I think we would have certainly been promoted with Kompany next season, I just don’t see available candidates of a similar level.
I’d be absolutely gutted if we replaced him with someone like Robins/Rosenior and faded back into mid table mediocrity. I’m sure the ones who hounded VK out so quickly would be delighted though.

Yeah it is a great point, no one in his position would turn Bayern down. He has used us to get what he wanted and we have to regroup and pick up the pieces as a result.
I think we all knew he was using us as a rung on his ladder, I just thought we would be left in a better position than when he started as a result of it.

Give over you big girls blouse, as if he was firstly "hounded" out of the club or secondly take one ounce of notice. If he has perhaps football management isn't for him moving forwards
Absolutely hilarious and quite childish to think anything remotely like could be a reason

that's where I'm at, big decision to be made but VK was a risk imho when they employed him. The route they take will be interesting, do they still want the big name to attract players or are they going to go for a steady hand that will want experienced players - my bet is the first because the experienced players will cost way more.
As long as Rooney and Lampard aren't getting a look in........

Quite clearly there was a vocal minority wanting him gone, they would criticise everything and anything about Kompany and were firmly set on wanting him gone. I’m not sure they will be happy when he’s replaced by someone like Rosenior.

I think that doesn’t represent fairly those of us who were critical of Kompany and wanted him gone as far back as October.
A lot of the things people have now jumped on the band wagon with were raised then and since.

Echoing KRBFC's post.
I think those calling for him to leave, and now celebrating him leaving, haven't really thought through the implications of him actually leaving.
I'd rather have an 'obnoxious' 'stubborn' (insert all other insults used over the past couple of days) manager thats proven he can get this club out of this division than some quickly appointed best of a bad situation chap who might 'steady the ship' straight into a steady midtable finish.
Be careful what you wish for indeed.

Or conversely we could get someone in who plays a more suitable style of football that could get us promoted and then compete in the premier league.
It always worried me that the expansive style would work in the champ when we had better players, but would fall down when in the prem with inferior players.

I'd guess that the size of VKs contract will have ruled out any ideas of sacking him...so maybe this is a godsend for Pace.
Yes this had crossed my mind too.

I'm not sure anyone has hounded VK out. More probably , like myself, people were willing to support him after a disastrous season in the Prem and would show their full support.
It's only since he's been shown to be a little bit of a charlatan by talking to Munich so soon after our demise that I'm now thinking he can go and we'll be better off without someone who clearly doesn't want to be here, and with hindsight that was apparent in the closing games of the season.

Cooper is a better manager than VK
Moyes is a better manager than VK
Corberran is a good manager
Rohl could have as much potential as VK
He was rightly criticised this season 2 home wins and 5 wins in total says it all about how rubbish we have been, all that is on VK

A better manager doesn’t guarantee better results, this is VKs team, he knows more about this group of players and club than someone like Moyes.
Whilst I’d agree Moyes is a better manager at this stage, I don’t think he’d have done what VK did in the Championship.

Hounded out
I doubt VK like Dyche before him cares one jot about the odd bit of criticism on a messageboard that is certainly not reflective of the club's supporters.
He may have received some pelters on here but nothing compared to Dyche. On the stands home and away the fans were brilliant with Kompany and hardly any abuse was given to him. Burnley fans overall have been magnificent at the games, especially in relation to some of the performances.
Kompany left for several reasons including increasing his salary, managing far superior players, competing in bigger competitions and improving his chance of winning major honours with 1 of the biggest clubs in world football. No sane person would begrudge him that opportunity. Just as no sane person would think that he was hounded out.

Some crazy conspiracy theory stuff on this thread.
There is no way VK or anyone else could have predicted Bayern Munich would have come in for him.
And how do we know this ? Because literally nobody did.
All this “brand” Kompany and he just used us is absolute nonsense.
Let’s just stick to what has actually happened
We had a fantastic season - everybody loved him.
We had a sh-it season - lots of people loved him a lot less
One of the biggest clubs in the world want him to be their manager - for reasons known to themselves
VK does what every other manager in the world in his position would do at this stage of his career after just being relegated to the championship.
It’s not really that complicated
1000000% agree.
He won us the title at Ewood for christs sake. That's a once in a lifetime opportunity for a claret.
This is in no way a sour taste like Coyle's departure was. It's a very unorthadox situation that has occured and they see something special in him as well all so. We know his is probably about 5 years too early to know what success he is going to have in his managerial career.
Ultimately, if he didn't get off to a great start in the Championship, we've been paying him 2.5 years wages + another managers. This way we are quids in, a new manager gets a full preseason to build and we have a very decent squad for the Championship with 15-20m in the bank for this. We all win.
Good luck Vinny, thanks for the (mostly great) memories, onwards and upwards. UTC.

Don’t delude yourself into believing that Kompany planned on spending another season in the Championship with Burnley. He, and his advisors, are only interested in enhancing his reputation and taking another step up the managerial ladder. He had already won the Championship so nothing to be gained by doing it again. However, if he failed to land on his feet by finding another Tella and Maatsen and we struggled that would really tarnish his CV. Especially following on from a disastrous season in the PL.

You have absolutely no idea what Kompany planned to do, he said he planned to stick around (pre Bayern interest) and he’s proven to be a well spoken man of morals so I wouldn’t question him on that.

You gave him 5 games in a new division after promotion before you started criticising? Great loyalty towards him and the team.
Wish your hero gave the same loyalty to the players that got him there.
He threw them aside as quick as he’s thrown the club aside

Just highlighting the fickle nature of fans and lack of loyalty.
To be fair to NewcastleClaret, he was exactly the same about Dyche, so at least he's consistent.

You have absolutely no idea what Kompany planned to do, he said he planned to stick around (pre Bayern interest) and he’s proven to be a well spoken man of morals so I wouldn’t question him on that.

A better manager doesn’t guarantee better results, this is VKs team, he knows more about this group of players and club than someone like Moyes.
Whilst I’d agree Moyes is a better manager at this stage, I don’t think he’d have done what VK did in the Championship.
Doesn't matter what he did in the championship last time it's a completely different squad now and he's under a lot more pressure.
The aim is promotion and I think Moyes would achieve that plus he'd have got more points this season than VK with the same squad.
There is nothing yet to suggest that what VK did was a one season wonder

BBC:
Kompany was unable to keep Burnley in the top flight this season but he stuck admirably to his principles of possession-based football,"
Another way of describing it would be all style but no substance.
A journalist in the Guardian summarising where it all went wrong for Burnley in the PL wrote “they kept trying to do the same things over and over again constantly shooting themselves in the foot”.

UTC.
Oh, wasn't that evening at Ewood something special. A once in a lifetime experience in footballing terms. Anyway, I agree with every word you've said here.

"He's shown us no loyalty" ??
Some of you on here need to give you head a right wobble.
He's been offered to go work for a regular title winning and Champions League playing team. With world class players. A massive, massive opportunity, way bigger than trying to get us out of the Championship.
And some of you lot throw your dummies out like he's going leaving us to manage Grimsby.
Jesus wept

Sky's German football reporter has just said company wasn't Option A,B,C or even D however they are going for it now, we want 17million compensation, they don't want to pay more that 13 million but expect it to be sorted today.

Yep, this is why it's so out of the blue. Can't blame him for going. I wish someone would come and headhunt me and set myself and family up in Munich - I love the city.

What fans post on social media and how supporters communicate frustration inside the stadium are very different. We never chanted for Kompanys head. The last 'Manager Out' chants were for Brian Laws, which was more sporadic murmurings but grew game-by-game. He was relieved of his duties before it got any worse.
Stan had a few during his dark days - pre-and-early-Kilby, but nothing compared to when chants for Waddle Out, but they soon fizzled because results started to improve, and then he jumped in the close season.
The frustrating thing is that we all bought into a vision as fans. To his credit, Alan Pace took a big gamble in sacking Sean Dyche and bringing in Kompany, which indicated where he wanted to take the club.
The documentary shows Kompnay involved in everything from a business perspective, including meetings with investors, advising on ROI from a football perspective, and spearheading this 'project'. It's disappointing to see him just drop everything.
I do think it's bittersweet. I don't have much confidence in his transfer dealings. Still, I feel the Bayern Munich job is a poisoned chalice. It does give VK the Champions League experience to make himself a realistic successor to Pep further down the line.
I wish we'd given him a bit of grief now... we were way too lenient on him.
