Rather long but interesting piece about VAR and officials.

that list is far from complete - Villa away and Luton at home both missing

A few against us but the red cards at Chelsea and Everton can't be translated into points lost. The two worst decisions though were the two against Luton and Forest that cost us four points.

Both mentioned - agreed not enough for VAR to intervene but both incorrect

Agree 100%. The Luton one at home still bugs me. Even if the referee thought it was a “coming together” surely VAR look at it anyway to check the build up to it etc, you can clearly see from all the angles that Trafford was almost assaulted and at that point they should have intervened. I’m getting angry now thinking about it.

Not only did they lose us 4 points, they were 4 points lost against our nearest rivals who gained 2 points as a result.

The thing that makes no sense at all is that they say there were 11 major errors in Burnley games (2 in our favour, 9 against) but only 4 of them should have been corrected by VAR. VAR reviewed the other 7 and "correctly" allowed them to stand even though they were wrong.

Saying that a decision was wrong but it was correct not to overturn it is the epitome of shooting themselves in the foot. That is probably the most stupid thing I've heard come from the var people. Absolutely ridiculous and unequivocal proof that it should be binned immediately. What a farce.

Well at the least the new directive for VAR next season, replacing ‘clear and obvious’ with ‘clearly wrong’, in order to change decisions, will be helpful.

I bet it won't. There will still be referees giving penalties for the most blatant of dives, and there will still be VAR officials saying "it isn't clearly wrong because there was contact".

The penalty farce will go on until they get referees together and explain that a trip means someone has fallen over because of another man's actions. As it stands now, they believe that a trip is any instance of a man landing on the floor after touching someone.

You missed my sarcasm in that post! Btw I fully agree here.
