I don’t think The problem with the van in townley isn’t the ridiculous prices , people can make their own decision whether to buy it or not , for me it’s their very deliberately tiny price list , so small it’s almost impossible to read. They clearly rely on people being unable to read it until they have got to the front of the queue then either deciding to pay up regardless or think well that was a waste of my time. When they first came back after Covid they didn’t even have a price list but the council who licence them to be there must have told them to put one up. As park owner the council should be insisting it’s easily readable from 20 feet away , put that up and see how many people bother buying one.

He doesn’t get all the money. They’ll be transaction fees every time someone buys something so the pricing will be higher for that as well.
Transaction fees really aren’t that high. Definitely not high enough for 2 to be £9

You can buy 6 Cornettos in a box for around £2.50
I pay 30p for a Cornetto out here in the Philippines .

I agree. The council should insist on a large sandwich board with an up-to-date price list next to ice cream vans that trade under licence in our parks.

I was in Towneley Park last weekend, and as a bloke 10 yards away had CPR performed on him by paramedics while the air ambulance hovered above, a ring of people with their back turned forming round the scene to protect his dignity in possibly his final moments, this ice cream van continued selling just across the path.

Felt pretty disrespectful.

The killer was as cold as ice. I also heard his family had to move away from Glasgow after they were frozen out by the local community

A chilling tale

Can you be sure he knew what was going on and not just concentrating on his business?

Listening to our local BBC radio station. just heard a recording of a eight year old wanting to buy ice-cream cones for herself and her twin sister from an ice-cream van in Burnley. £9 for two cones, and they only take cards. Wanted to pay by cash. Therefore no ice-cream and clearly not happy!
Who on earth records their 8yr old getting an ice cream ? Sounds like a bit of a set up . That said those prices seem mind boggling

She didn't video her 8-year-old buying an ice cream. She videoed the kid having a rant about the extortionate price. Set up or not, it's just a bit of a laugh that went viral. Some people round here could do to lighten up a bit.

It was bang opposite his hatch, just the other side of a footpath, with dozens of people initially running around, a helicopter flying above, ambulances tearing about the place.

If he didn't notice it he needs to be registering as blind and deaf.
