Some fans will moan over anything. Get a grip.
It's the "Little Burnley..let's keep it local" mentality rearing it's head again. Exasperating how short sighted and insular some folk are.

Detroit is certainly on the up.Lots of big business returning to the city and lots of investment in the city itself.
Detroit will most likely have an MLS expansion team in the future, maybe this will be a club Burnley could partner with.

Like someone said earlier, Detroit's fortunes mirror the small northwest town that was the biggest cotton producing town on the planet at one point in its history.
I can not see how this partnership is a bad thing.

We’ve just been relegated and have to be open to all revenue streams given the hit we will take.

Incredibly we still have fans who think the world begins in Hapton and ends in Nelson.

I appreciate Pace exploring new avenues and trying new things.

The same people criticizing this revenue initiative are likely the same ones complaining about price rises for OAPs. Pace has forgotten more about business than they’ll ever know.

The owners seem to be doing a fantastic job getting these commercial deals in place, will probably help plug the gap in income after relegation. All areas our previous owners were dreadful at.

Well done ALK, keep it up

The more money generated for the club, the better. Bonus points for not being some gambling company.

I'd assume sleeve/back of shirt/training gear sponsor, perhaps. I can't see them paying the going rate for main shirt sponsor.

You'd be surprised. I'm pretty sure the CFS shirt sponsorship was a very good deal for CFS.

That'd be cool as the main shirt sponsor. Can see it being more short sleeve/shorts/training though.

It's not the main shirt sponsor for this season unless they've since backed out of a previous deal.

If there's one thing I'd have quite a but of confidence in it's Pace's grip and expertise with the commercial side of things.

There's probably some similarities between what's happening at burnley (and the subsequent negativity of some fans and long serving staff/recently departed staff) and what happens at large companies when they introduce new processes or modernise significantly. Basically often people don't like, or are resistant to, change. Definitely there are some prominent people on this board who appear to automatically take a negative stance very quickly with anything Pace and the current leadership do.

For me, commercially, our club was way behind where it needed to be. There are a lot of elements of the modern game I don't like.... but ultimately I want us to compete and play at the highest level we can. I think being progressive and effective commercially will help make that more likely.

I’ve said this before, but nearly all my employees have been US-owned companies from big US corporates to PE/VC/Hedge fund-backed businesses.

I’d say Americans are good, fair but tough employers. They don’t tolerate underperformance or carry baggage in the way we do politely over here. If you work hard and do well you get well rewarded, if you don’t you’re P45 isn’t far away. To be honest, exactly as I’d run my business if I had one.

Every time the CEO changes there’s a whole new Exec team within a year, who then change their leadership. That can be disruptive and not always positive but good does come of it too.

I agree with you that commercially we needed to move on. Who’s have thought a few years ago that we’d have an NFL star as effectively an ambassador, be playing tournaments in the US and have organisations like visit Detroit and Miller Lite sponsoring us? It was all possible under previous ownership but they either lacked the vision or contacts for it.

Will it pay off or do us any good? I’m not sure, but it’s worth a try. I think it might if at some point we become more competitive in the premier league. Otherwise it might not.

It’ll be interesting to know if we’re seeking to replicate what we’re trying to do in America in Asia, Africa, etc. The recent Asian investment might point to this. I think if we actively build the brand in multiple markets the cumulative effect stands more chance of making a difference than just targeting the US.

This happens every 4 years at my company with it being owned by PE.

The change in strategies is unbelievable. Especially when it is one that has been used before by a previous CEO and already failed.
