Is it wrong to desperately want him to fail? Asking for a friend.

A classy statement, shame they couldn't do the same for Sean Dyche when they sacked him.

See ya!!
Thanks for 22/23 but no thanks whatsoever for the shambles that you oversaw last season.
Over to you Alan, don’t balls this one up, please!

Draws a line under one of the weirdest things that's happened at Burnley in my lifetime.
I already dislike Bayern, so at least I can continue with that and not feel like it's all bitterness

Hopefully, like a besotted teenage girl dumped by her first bf, Alan Pace might now be a little more worldly and less beholden to silver tongued managers

This is what they said about Dyche
“"Firstly, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sean and his staff for their achievements at the club over the last decade," said Pace.
"During his time at Turf Moor, Sean has been a credit both on and off the pitch, respected by players, staff, supporters, and the wider football community.”

Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
I’m happy with this. It is highly unlikely that the fairytale of his first season at Turf Moor would have been repeated in the coming season. He showed, in his first 6 months in the Premier League, that he had an arrogance about him (in Belgium, they call it a “dikke nek”) which put his pride in his own style of play above results and the benefit of BFC.
I’m glad that we have actually received compensation for his breach of contract, rather than having to pay out compensation when the inevitable sacking would have come about part way into next season.
I’m confident that the Board of BFC will get their man (whoever that may be) within the next couple of weeks, so that we can plan properly for our visit to the Championship.
No manager or coach is bigger than BFC. We fans will still be here when they’re all gone. UTC

“ Dyche was the longest-serving manager in the Premier League, having been in charge of the Clarets for nine-and-a-half years, overseeing a period which will go down as one of the most successful in the Club’s history.
During this time, the team was promoted twice from the Championship, achieved two top-half Premier League finishes and qualified for Europe for the first time in 51 years”.
I don’t know if there’s a measurement scale for “nice statements”, but it’s not as if his achievements were ignored.

Surprised that he couldn’t have said anything about how much he’d appreciated the support of the board and fans but maybe we were just a project for his ego all along.

Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
What do the "changing dynamics" refer to in our club's statement? Just that they were confident they'd keep him going into the offseason and that Bayern Munich coming in for him changed things?

Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
Thanks for the memories of decimating the championship with some beautiful football and lifting the trophy at the Horse Botherers Cabbage patch.
Not sure what you were trying last season but apparently conceding for fun each week, having around a 10% success rate in your signings and creating zero chances keeps you in the hunt for a 'big' job so fair play. It's probably why Steve Cooper is holding out for the Barcelona or Juventus gig ...
Best of luck, VK.

I'll tip my hat to the new Constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again, no, no
Yeaaaaaaaaash
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss.

Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
Probably best he left. Half of the Burnley fans would have been on Vincent’s back should the coming season not start well.
Bring in a Premier League manager and back them to get us there (hopefully in one season).

Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
Very interested to see how he gets on.
System / tactics wise I think he’ll be a success but my doubts come from his ability to manage a powerful dressing room & handle the pressure that comes with that role. I saw signs this season of him struggling under pressure and that’s nothing compared to Bayern.

Good luck at BM and thanks for an incredible season winning the Championship at Ewood.
But, doing the dirty on Mr Pace, JJ and the rest hurts because - they backed you and you failed then bailed !
Us fans, gutted - nah !!! we have moved on - NEXT !

No highlights reels of the 2 promotions, the European tour, nothing on his return last season. Some thanks for 10 years of service.

No no, they mentioned the promotions and Europe as well, it’s detailed in this very thread.
Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
Not what I said at all though is it. They posted a short professionally worded statement for 10 years of service and then nothing else. It was disrespectful. Not a single clip of the past 10 years, the players were basically gagged from saying anything apart from talking about 'freedom' which seemed to be a buzzword.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 4:48 pmNo no, they mentioned the promotions and Europe as well, it’s detailed in this very thread.

Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
That first season was epic.. from the kit style and sponsor to the slick passing football to the fairytale script of winning the league at Ewood to the excited anticipation of possession based attacking in the Premier League.. and yet after the baffling season back at the top table, it's a relief he's gone. Things have definitely happened that maybe we will never be privy to but hopefully AP now knows what he wants and doesn't want and can reignite the hopes of that magical Championship campaign.
Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
Interesting article by Andy Jones at the Athletic. Suggestion is that Kompany was not planning on leaving the club until Bayern came in. This seems to go against the general narrative on here and by Sacha.

Glad it's finally fully resolved. We can move on now.
Vincent leaves with the odd distinction being up there with our best manager of the 21st century and also down there with the crappest. Strange and eventful days.

Re: ARTICLE: Vincent Kompany departs for Bayern Munich
Not planning, but an eye open for an opportunity. You can't plan to leave until you get the next job. Does confirm what I've been posting that Geers and Ngalula are going with him but the others aren't, and that Bellamy has gone. He's left behind Cremers (although I'd heard he'd gone with Bellamy) and Tybebo.RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 4:57 pmInteresting article by Andy Jones at the Athletic. Shame he has gone, had some great ideas but too stubborn, I really enjoyed the ride.
Its probably best that he is replaced by someone (no matter how talented or ambitious) who takes the time to speak to fans and keeps them informed of all goings on at the club, from catering incidents to under 18s injuries.
