Thanks, Vincent Kompany. You gave BFC and the fans a very good season and developed a team that always tried to play exciting football.
Best wishes for your time at Bayern Munich. I hope it goes well for you.

Did they get the AI Vincent for the ‘interview’? Doesn’t take much imagination to mention the Blackburn games. Shame he didn’t use that little imagination on his player selections last season. Off you pop

Re: Message from VK
There’s some strange people about
One of the biggest clubs in the world came in. If he had 5 bad games next season he would be sacked and his stock would be nothing, and we would have to fork out a fortune
He gave us the titled at Ewood park!
We won the league at Ewood park!
He did that for us!
Fans will talk about us winning the league at Ewood in 100 years, just like when people go on about the Orient game, or our promotion at Deepdale
He will always be a clarets legend just for that

Nice enough message. I don’t know what some folk want (especially those who’ve called him every name under the sun this season) tbh. Time to move on.

Re: Message from VK
Bit of an odd message. He clearly has no ill feelings, and why would he, he wasn’t forced out. But I don’t detect any empathy for the state the club has been left in. There were lots of “I”s in that message. All about how he feels rather than how we must feel.
The sense is that he never bought into the long term project, told us what we needed to hear, and viewed it as a rapid stepping stone, so in hindsight it is just as well we went up in year 1, because now he would be doing the same as the guy at Leicester if we had just gone up now.
Hopefully he does well and that we all wish him well, he gave us the Ewood win and the title, with the win over them at home being the first time (amazingly) I have seen us beat them live. But I have learned a lot about his personality type in the last 2 weeks, it has come as a big disappointment because I thought he was better than that, and maybe this is the case with a lot of former elite players? Maybe, it is why so few make elite managers?
p.s. I don’t feel sorry for us, we are just fans, this happens, good luck to Vincent. I do though feel sorry for the young players he bought and no doubt made promises to. It happens, but maybe up to now it hasn’t happened to them.

Re: Message from VK
What state has the club been left in? We don't know. A positive outlook would be that he's brought in lots of young players with lots of potential who after a tricky season have all the attributes to excel in a league below, get the club promoted and maybe make the club significant money in transfers. And with still a strong core of Championship experience.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 6:23 pmBut I don’t detect any empathy for the state the club has been left in.
But if he has left the club in a sorry state, he's hardly going to come out say "Oh yeah and I've left the club up **** creek lol soz"

Nothing wrong with the video.
I wish him well at Bayern. A job nobody could turn down in his position.
Thankful that he delivered a brilliant season in the Championship.
Rather remember him for that than the mistakes made last season.

I think people are commenting on two different messages on this thread, the one the club has published on its website and the one on his twitter account.

In my late 60s and I've followed burnley since a kid, many highs and many lows but without doubt being on deadwood and winning the championship topped the lot so thank you vinnie for your part in this.
Just a pity I never bump into the crap from blackburn I used to work with in the 80s to rub their noses in it!!

Re: Message from VK
No one will forget us winning the league at Ewood, that is the stuff of legends and VK delivered that for us.
That Championship season was amazing and so refreshing and it was a shame it all went downhill this season, however that can't take away that although not great he has left us in a better place than he found us.
It's also been mentioned numerous times that he put in an unbelievable amount of hours in work and preparation, so he clearly cared and wanted it to work, however it just wasn't to be and I think it's worked out well for both parties.
Good Luck VK, thankyou and all the best at Bayern.

Re: Message from VK
I just dont get why people would have such animosity for him.
This talk of 'The state he's left the club'.
I'm pretty confident we'll see a pretty decent profit on players sold this summer, and still be left with a squad that is more than capable at this level. It's over to Pace to identify another guy who can deliver.
If you compare the club to two years ago the age is a lot lower and potential of the players in the team is massively higher.
Personally think we are a very good bet for an ambitious manager now. I think we'll have a decent amount of appeal.
I personally wish Kompany the best, and probably on balance the last two years have gone a lot better than I expected when he arrived.
Do hope fans get behind the next manager and the season starts off with positive vibes in and the club.

Re: Message from VK
I can’t say for certain however I think it is very doubtful we could get £100 million for the lot of his signings, IMO. Who’d have thought Fernando Guerrero wasn’t going to be most fouled player in the top division. Managers come and go, managers chat 5hit.

Or the ones he did sign that were exceptional? Only to be dumped once promoted! When we needed them.
Or the umpteen signings in the summer that have secured relegation with as poor a season as possible?

Absolutely this! Not forgetting lining his own pockets big time by signing players using his scouting organisation, MUD analytics or whatever. Jesus, you couldn’t make it up!! Leaves us with a massive squad, most of whom have either been out on loan all season, or were deemed not good enough any more ( or hadn’t trained hard enough ). It’s gonna be a long hard summer for whoever gets the gig, mid-table mediocrity beckons I fear.RammyClaret61 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 12:42 amWhich inspired signings are those? Feels like we’d need the dust to settle for a few years to make our minds up on VK. One unbelievably great season, and one truly awful.. and then goes again. Hard to assess right now really.
Depends too if his signings prove to be fruitful investments - like several of Eddie Howe’s - or a financial disaster that ruin us.
