Next manager
Re: Next manager
Brighton look to be moving in on Fabian Hürzeler, the St Pauli manager. Only 31 and just got St Pauli promoted as Champions. Got them playing some brilliant football. I suggested him as an option for us, albeit I said it may be too early and that he'd like to have a go in the Bundesliga with FCSP. Looks like it isn't too early and it could be the Premier League instead.
Re: Next manager
JJ Watt is a genuine guy he bigs the club up at every opportunity, he's a proven winner,he's in touch with the fans. In my books that makes him ideal.
Also when we appointed Dyche did the attitude " what does a bloke who owns a few ships and a bloke with an IT consultancy know about football managers. "
I think that went rather well don't you ?

I am clutching to the notion that even our owners can’t be stupid enough to appoint him because of his stature as player…
As for Southgate he will think himself an elite manager now, little Burnley won’t enter his head.

Poor article making out we are little Burnley and should be grateful because he played for England. This is not about hyper inflated opinions of worth. Lampard is a bad fit. His playing days have got **** all to do with managerial talent. Derby flopped in the play offs. He ****** Everton and got binned off. The media bullshit hype for this guy because he is ex-Chelsea, ex-England is ********. Competence not a name. I could not give a **** about media profile.
Parker has got teams promoted previously and I can understand why there is a case to be made for appointing him. Wouldn't be my choice but it is rational. Lampard is shite. **** the Sun, **** super Frankie Lampard.

Re: Next manager
I think the article has some merit in their perception of how the fanbase has viewed these links either on here, or on wider social media.
I still remember people were telling us that we needed a Wilder, Mowbray and Warnock before VK came in (and gave us a record points total in a league he'd never managed in before and had not had the best seasons managing back in Belgium).
We only have past performance to judge on so I can understand the views - but you would hope that the young managers being linked will learn from their experience and they have both had some successes in their careers so far. Eddie Howe has learned his trade further as an example.
No manager is guaranteed success but what we need is someone who can come in and work with a young team. Are Parker/Lampard the best options, I don't know but the article does make sense in the logic some fans are showing at times.

we just have to let the fat cat owners make their choice, Burnley fans are superfluous to the money plan.
But, as we are committed to the club with little choice because it is in our souls, then hopefully frank lampard gets the vote and takes us forward. social media is awash with fans detesting him, Good, egg on face times ahead then.

The journo obviously doesn’t like Burnley but it’s not that far off is it. Parker, 2 promotions from the Championship but people don’t like him because of his cardigans. Lampard hasn’t been as bad as some make out but it seems fashionable to slag him off. I’m not saying I want either but they’re certainly not as bad as some make out.

His time in Belgium with a Champions league side was atrocious
We should get Lampard though, he can lean on his uncle and we can get Crouchy, Defoe and Krancjar in.

The article has been wrote by a silver tongued journalist who doesn’t understand we aren’t interested in managers who think they are better than us we want a hard working honest manager who doesn’t come with an attitude that we need to be great full of them choosing us.
Bellamy is not do dissimilar to Parker and Lampard in footballing terms but on the other hand he his because he is at rock bottom having declared himself bankrupt. This makes Bellamy a far better option as he has to make it work if he wants to re build is career and bank balance.
We know we aren’t a big club and we don’t want to be and that’s probably why the fans warm to managers like Dyche and managers like Kompany would never fit long term.

Most interesting name I have seen so far would be Van Nistelrooy.
A bit of a gamble, but seems to fit everything the board is looking for and has done well in his managerial career to date.

And done a bit of digging on tactical style / overall profile, definitely fits the bill in my opinion…
- likes to have control via ball dominance, 4-2-3-1 / 4-4-2 shape typically
- likes to create overloads on the wings for his wingers to isolate their man 1 v 1
- happy coaching and playing young players but also likes a mix of experience in there
- big name that Pace seemingly likes, I’m sure it would go a way to exciting some of the young players we signed

Does anyone think that getting £12/13m of un-budgeted income for VK is affecting the thought process and pointing them in the way of a younger “big name”. Success with us and would someone pay big comp for Frank/Parker? Potentially - probs only works with a director of football though.

To be honest though, I’m struggling to get excited about any of the managers we’re linked with. My overall view is that the system Kompany played worked very well in the Championship and I don’t really want to see wholesale changes and new systems being developed in one pre-season, so whoever it is I’d like to see them come in and evolve the style
Lampard and Parker wouldn’t be my picks (don’t really have any alternatives to offer up though) but think they’re both getting unfair criticism and could do a job. Either will get my backing if that’s who we choose.

I think any fair minded person would have reservations about Lampard and Parker given their recent records. And I'm not sure anyone really knows what the fanbase thinks anyway.
Given the current situation the club is in we need a sure fire winner and in reality most managers come with a history of some wins and some losses. I think the fanbase is reflecting the reality that a poor decision would leave the club in a big mess.
I suspect the attitudes towards Lampard and Parker are just a reflection of that.

Re: Next manager
The problem with football in the English pyramid system is that other than the elite clubs it's a hard slog to be successful. It is why the Americans don't have relegation or other things that make our league so competitive.
Appointing a manager is often a lottery because as often as not what makes a great manager is people skills and the ability to galvanise a group of players.
There is no science of success in a very competitive marketplace finding the best fit for a situation is an art not a science. And serendipity is a big factor: who is available at any given time.
Younger managers that have an ideological perspective are fine if they share it with the previous incumbent. Of course, except where the previous incumbent went a long way to proving that the particular ideology doesn't work.
The problem is, dominoes on a chess board often track better much better than 19 year olds on a football pitch.

I didn't either other than I think Easy has mentioned it before. It seems like an Alan Pace kind of appointment with one eye on the brand and the marketing.
Saying that Lampard's only real success was that first season at Chelsea working with young players and a transfer embargo so there is definitely room for optimism if it is Lampard.
