Not sure what to make of this but sorry to see so many people in Burnley struggling below the breadline. Some appalling living conditions but also some spirited community help and belief. What was the aim of the film and did it achieve its goals? Did it help in any way? More questions than answers!

A lot of people in Burnley, on here and especially people who no longer live here take an almost perverse pride in slagging the town off at any and every opportunity. Show a video of Townley Hall and the beautiful grounds views,countryside, and affordable quality housing of different styles snd ages and the anti Burnley mob would be frothing at the mouth screaming walk a mile in that direction film Burnley Wood..... that's the real Burnley that's the Burnley the nation should see, where as some of us are the opposite and when they show the run down areas with selected loser/moaners interview I get angry and shout at the tele show the nice parts show the great communities we have,mention disposable income. But no misery seems more interesting.

I like how they lead with the headline figure of the price and not really talk about having to spend another £20k on top to make it livable.

I also went for an house (as part of my rental portfolio) that was up for auction for £19k. It ended up selling for £32k.

There's poor houses and really good houses in Burnley.
Just like anywhere else.

I travel around the uk for work all week, believe me, Burnley isn’t that bad! Yes you’ve some run down areas like Duke bar but it’s actually no worse than a lot of places.

I’d say there’s far more nice areas than rough areas in Burnley

All Northern towns and Cities are the same. Whether it's Burnley, Barnsley, Bradford or Beverley. I was born in Burnley and went to St Teds, but grew up in Todmorden. I now live in Rochdale. All three towns have been hit with the same stick at some point in my lifetime. However, there are some fantastic places around all of these places.

I live in Smithy Bridge now, a few minutes walk from Hollingworth Lake and Littleborough. I do a lot of running and getting out into the hills, or up and down the canal, is a privilege and not something I take for granted. Places like Bamford and Norden, with Naden and Ashworth Valley's on their doorsteps are affluent areas too. Yes, there are seriously run down areas, and these are the areas that make the news, but they shouldn't overshadow the whole place. The thing that makes you laugh is you have these reports made by people living in London, thinking they've got it cracked, when in reality they're in a concrete jungle with no access to the real jewel in our crown; the great outdoors.

I had noted your name previously as I run past Clegg Hall regularly. There's a lot to dislike about the area if you want to go that way but I prefer to see the positive. I've run over most of the hills around Rochdale, whether it's Knowl Hill, Blackstone Edge, Wardle, Ashworth Valley, Tandle Hill, Piethorne Valley... there's some fabulous views and countryside right on my doorstep and we're lucky to have it (until it's covered with new housing estates!!).

Harrogate is thought of as a very upmarket place ... but let me tell you ... there are a couple of estates that make Buttershaw in Bradford and parts of Duke Bar in Burnley seem like really posh areas .

I work in Manchester and the stories I hear about different areas of Manchester and Greater Manchester are shocking.
Burnley is a deprived area, with poor infrastructure and cheap housing but it's not as violent as a lot of other places in the North. The police have become a box ticking laughing stock

I moved from Rossendale 3 years ago and I'm loving living in Burnley we got so much more property for my money .

Up Worsthorne/Pendle for some great walks and pints

Some great places to eat

Towneley Park is a joy

Don't have to drive to and from the turf

Got all the major shops and although the Market is now more for food its busy and some good options

2 lovely Marina Bars

Cinema

Direct train routes to Manchester, York etc...

I could go on but people like to put negative spins on Burnley ... especially from the outside ....

The manufacturing in the North left to rot by governments where the south had trillions plumped into it .. when banks got a bail out the north didn’t and has never recovered so no wonder inflated real estate in south and the rest of the country looked on like free loaders now by the south ..

Two years ago, I saw a 4 Bedroomed House off Lakeland Way for sale at offers over £300k ...Early 90's development, on the Padiham side of Lakeland Way, the house was very well maintained, gardens well kept and recently redeveloped, Double Garage, en-suite, utility room, downstairs WC etc.
I sent the link on F/B to friends in Cobham, Surrey, Twickenham and a village 10 miles outside of Bath ..... they reckoned the House would be £650k, £1.1m and £825k in their areas ...

Five Railway stations in the Borough, Manchester and Leeds less than a hour by train, excellent motorway links, 3 International Airports within an hour's drive, Nationally recognised Hotel and Spa complex, Premier League/Championship Football, fabulous Countryside, 3 Michelin starred Restaurants within half an hour and some excellent eating establishments both locally and in neighbouring Boroughs ..

Like everywhere, a mix of good and not so good ...

Yes they love to film Burnley Wood. Healeywood in the early 1970’s was a great place to grow up. Almost rural with our playgrounds being The Delph,where we used to sit on a match day evening as children listening to the roars from Turf Moor, Chucky Pad and Healey Heights. Happy memories.

Bank of Dave gave a good impression of Burnley which I was pleased about.

Burnley was also voted The Friendliest Town in the UK a few years ago. Steve Wright (God rest his soul) saying “Hello Burnley!”

i was brought up in Weybridge in Surrey and moved to Burnley due to the wife and work but i can honesty say the people up here are the nicest and most down to earth people you could possibly meet. Minus the yachts.
