He couldn't organise a **** up in a brewery.
We have one of the best squads in the world, but a crap team.
These youngsters get picked because of how they play for their clubs. So he picks them, then asks them to do something else. At times we look like strangers.
Individual talent, or a moment of magic, gets us through games, but even organised minnows find us wanting.
Playing Trips at left back, TAA in front of the back 4, playing kids in friendlies that are never going anywhere near the final squad, are all wasted opportunities.
By the way, with a proper manager we'd have beaten Italy, and Croatia.
This. Absolutely 100% this.
The FA love him, because they know they won’t be picking a newspaper up on Sunday morning to read about how he’s been filmed snorting coke off a hookers tits. He speaks like he’s given everything a weeks thought, but when you analyse what he’s actually said, it sounds like he got Garth Crooks to write it.
Getting to the last euro final is obviously seen as a step forward, but losing to a bang average Italian team from a winning position was criminal. We should be defending the euro title, but we’re not. With these players, anything less than a win in the final should be considered another failure.

Mullen replacing Casper!!
I’m glad Middlemass never replaced Mullen.
Under Bob Lord it’s what we did all the time, the next one in line being promoted. It’s not something that works very often but Mullen did.

That's a ridiculous argument Tony. They are totally different people.
As for Bond and Benson. That was a totally stupid appointment in the first place.
Yes, Benson was a stupid appointment even though he had managerial experience. Bellamy hasn’t and he wouldn’t have even been here had Kompany not left.

I didn’t realise that was the case, I think Potts was in post when I first started going in 77 and yes I suppose he was replaced by Brian Miller who I assume was his assistant.

Harry Potts was manager when I first started going but the first time round. Then it was Jimmy Adamson, Joe Brown, Potts again and Brian Miller.
Lord’s policy was that you had to have played for us to manage us.
There was a time when Liverpool employed the same policy with great success but the game has moved on from that now.

And Bond was the first manager to have not played for the club previously??
Was that one of the reasons he was not very popular or was it the players he signed or the results?

Bond was the first Burnley manager since Frank Hill in the 1950s not to have played for the club previously.

Bond was the most stupid appointment. I happened to get a chance to speak with Jackson before he did so, and I told him then that he was making a huge mistake.
I don't think Bellamy would be anywhere near as bad, although I have other preferences and I think Pace will find the right man .

Not having that, it was the appointment of Benson that led to us going into the fourth division. But I’m not getting into this silly Bond argument again, it’s all been documented.

Beat Carlisle 2-0 and then won 6-2 at Wrexham. I think he landed the job before the next game.

Not a clue - it was a lot more open two years ago who was on the short list.

It’s totally irrelevant but appointing Bellamy could be just as disastrous. He was on his way out of the club at the end of last season. If he’d not been here for two years I’m sure no one would put his name forward.

You are totally missing my point. I never said I particularly wanted Bellamy. I was responding to a poster who asked "What does Pace do if he can't find the right man?" We have to continue until he does, and Bellamy knows the players and the system.

Sorry, I thought you had said: “Bellamy will be just fine.”
As for not finding the right man, our recruitment team should have been fully prepared for this eventuality.

Everyone is making us favourites to come straight back up and I think that's a mistake. When we appoint a new manager, he will want his own playing style. That will take time to learn. By which time we could be mid table or lower. Is that really what we need. That's why Bellamy could be a decent option.

I don’t think Kompany and Bellamy were in agreement on playing style.

Believe so and he’s been hovering around the betting. But as someone said on here earlier in the week, they shuffle them around from time to time.

Oh come on, Bumba! Do you not remember how childish he acted after being substituted in one of the last games of the season under Mike Jackson? Throw a hissy fit and not celebrating with the rest of the bench after we’d made a comeback.

I used to like a bet but would stay clear of these markets unless it was a small bet for a bit of interest. I did have a bet on Keith Hill at 33s in 2012. I knew a member of his staff and he told me he had been interviewed and was confident of getting the job. Apparently Dyche and his PowerPoint blew all of the other candidates out of the equation. One I kicked myself on was Keegan getting the City job. My boss told me he would be next City manager , I didn't believe her. After he was appointed, I asked how did she know, her other half chauffeured Man City directors!

I believe you.
None of my pals admit to losing but are full of it if they get a win.
I remember an advert for online poker stating “Come and play and join with the best players in the World” I thought if I ever play poker I’d want it to be with the worst in the World.

Terrific article.
Cut, copy, paste and leave a print of it on AP's desk.
How could you not give him the job after reading that!!.
Massive name in global football, mid forties, great experience on and off the pitch as a top class striker, player and club manager... and a bloody decent bloke.
Even mentioning RVN' s name as a potential Burnley FC manager shows massive intent and how far our club is going in the football world.
We have to stick by AP and the board whatever, ( I know making them and their investors money is the name of the game), but I think their passion and commitment is admirable.

Half true. A lad flicked a lit match in her direction
It was a lighter I think but they were kids doing it past everyone who went in.

I believe you.
None of my pals admit to losing but are full of it if they get a win.
I remember an advert for online poker stating “Come and play and join with the best players in the World” I thought if I ever play poker I’d want it to be with the worst in the World.
I got consumed by football betting, my Saturday morning would include studying the form of the Swiss and Austrian leagues so totally gave up. I know of a few who send me their winning slips every now and again, never their losers. I can see through it all, paddy offering guaranteed wins on their wonder wheel, I won a 10p scratch card and lost. I will use the free bets and have some 100/1 shots.

From the article:
It wasn’t a question of what football I wanted to play, though. It was more about, with the players we have, what is the best strategy to get the maximum out of the season? We knew we had to sell players for massive amounts of money, and that meant selling our best players in the winter break. So it was mostly about adapting to the situation rather than implementing my own philosophy or style of play, as I had done with Jong PSV and the youth teams.
It was a fantastic process, though, because I learned a lot through analysing the squad, analysing individual players, talking a lot with the coaching staff about how to get the maximum out of the players. Is it the high press, is it a mid-block, is it counter-attacking or sustained attacks in the final third?
Wonder how he would get along with Bellamy and Jackson?

It was a match but you are correct, it wasn’t specifically because of who she was, it was totally random
