Now 6/1 with Sky - if ever any proof was required around how small bets are moving this market. Worth a punt because of the assistant story, but still seems an unlikely one to me.

FAVOURITE: Ruud van Nistelrooy - 1/3
The former Manchester United striker has been out of work since leaving PSV Eindhoven in May 2023. Resigned from the role, citing a lack of support. Looks like he might miss out on the Leicester job.

Re: Next manager
In all seriousness I don't see why Henriksen would want to leave a Bundesliga club for a Championship club and I don't see why Pace and the board would want to buy someone out of their contract when there are cheaper options available. But who knows. That article about Jensen can't have come from nowhere.

Well done pal, helluva bet that one.
Here’s me faffing around reading his wiki page, concerned about his managerial record, while the smart lads are piling on and narrowing the odds

Re: Next manager
If true then it’s a strange move to appoint an assistant without confirmation of a manager. Maybe we’re still negotiating compo with Mainz.

Reading this article he sounds like the coach we should have hired to save our Premier league status if the board had sacked VK at the turn of the year. I cannot see that he would leave his current job having only been there a few months.
Maybe Jensen is the new manager not assistant as claimed in that article!
This is just getting crazy....

If this post relates to JDT, then I don't see how anyone would have a problem with him due to his BRFC link.jedi_master wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 11:13 amI sincerely doubt that Pace would elect to appoint someone who certain 'elements' of our fanbase will reject outright due to history. Putting aside his previous club, which would be irrelevant to me, he has not done anywhere near enough in this league to justify getting a club like Burnley. That would be severely underwhelming considering the other options clearly interested.
He was there briefly, did a decent job, and so far as I'm aware never showed even the slightest disrespect for Burnley as a club or its supporters.
Whilst he wouldn't be my first choice, his pedigree is certainly better than some of those linked to the vacancy, and he likes to play good football too.
tbh, I'm not sure why he would leave his current job for us though.

Re: Next manager
The only reason Henriksen has been mentioned (unless I've missed something) is because Jensen was his assistant at another club previously. There are no links to Henriksen other than those generated on here and in a WhatsApp group I'm in which followed a similar logic based on the Jensen article. I might be wrong but I wouldn't get carried away with this one.
The Jensen article does indicate that things are happening though. To add my own twist on speculation, I wonder whether 'assistant' is being loosely translated and Jensen might come in to work under a more experienced director of football of sorts...

"I don't play the game, they do. So, I ask my players a lot: what do they trust in? What have they tried before? If I go into the dressing room and say, 'We have to do this, this and this' and the players are not comfortable, then I'm going to look stupid. Because we'd be doing it for my sake, so I can look good. I don't have to look good. I don't look good anyway. I haven't looked good in 49 years, so why should I start now?!"
Slightly different approach to last season!

Re: Next manager
A mate of a mate's brother's uncle's cousin has it from a really good source that Alan Pace was seen sitting on Pendle Hill with a banjo and a cowboy hat singing:

Re: Next manager
It wouldn't surprise me if we got an assistant first.
I thought the word from the club was that we were looking for a head coach and not a manager.
Wouldn't the head coach just have to work with the coaches we already have.

In fact the same mate of a mate's brother's uncle's cousin has it from another even better source that Alan Pace was not only seen sitting on Pendle Hill with a banjo and a cowboy hat singing but wanted to release to the the press when VK left but was persuaded not to:

Re: Next manager
Another possible link to Jensen is Hendrik Rydstrom who was at Kalmar with him, and currently manages Malmo. But then again surely we can’t be taking two managers from the same league
Rydstrom was in the betting for the Brighton job recently and is now into 3rd favourite for us. Brighton fan article here discussing his style of play:

Re: Next manager
Henrik Jensen.
Speaking during his first interview as Kalmar manager, Jensen was asked about the style of coach that he is, to which he said: "Meticulous, structured, someone who looks a lot at the game, the tactical part. That's where I start somewhere, then I'm clear and direct in my communication when it comes to football."
He also offered an insight into the style of football that we intended to implement, and it could offer a good explanation as to the reasoning behind Burnley's approach for him.
Jensen said: "I want to have as much control as possible in the matches. With and without ball. It is important. The goal is to build on the style of play
that the club set. We must be a possession-driven team that takes the initiative with the ball and conducts a high defensive game."

Rather than players remaining in fixed areas, spread out across the pitch to stretch and switch the play, this new-style pioneered by Diniz effectively involves as many teammates as possible flocking to where the ball is.
“The team go wherever the ball-carrier needs them, like a swam of bees protecting their queen,” is how The Independent describe it.
If it sounds like total chaos, that is because it is. But it is the sort of chaos opponents have no answer to. The other team cannot predict and therefore stop what a Rydstrom side is going to do because the Rydstrom side do not know themselves.
