None really pal except their both Scandinavian but in their football world up there I presume their paths must have crossed. I think Malmö has a connection but don't know why.
Re: Next manager
I don't care if we hire someone who has the title beer pong specialist coach even a how to dive properly and sincerely coach just as long as we rid the club for ever of the set piece specialist coach.

As much as the athletic said the club are willing to take their time, surely even the ownership group know the importance of a new manager being in place to start pre season

Re: Next manager
So top three in betting are
Ruud Van Nistelrooy 1/2
Bo Henriksen 7/2
Henrik Rydstrom 5/1
Surprised that Knutson is as far out as 50/1? Has he ruled himself out more or less?

I hope this isn’t the case but I’ve a funny feeling they’re going to give it to Bellamy, hence the search for an assistant manager.

The club appointed jackson, maybe Bellamy approves of the new man123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 11:00 amIf they where to give it Bellamy doesn’t he already have his assistant in Jackson
Re: Next manager
I just can’t see it being Bellamy.
Re: Next manager
Appointing an assistant manager and yet harping on about head coach, is just bizarre.
As others have pointed out, it smacks of Bellamy as manager/coach or whatever. All the top managers want their own assistant and coaches as that gets things going in a heartbeat. Having to educate and get to know a bunch of strangers is not a fast start.
Not sure about any of the club decision making process. Hope they know beat!

Re: Next manager
Think of it as a business. You have just invested 1 million plus in your business. So you’re looking for a manager to run the business and look after your money. Do you employ a man who never ran a business before … I think the answer is quite simple. Most definitely not Bellamy.

They appointed Bellamy with Jackson, even on an interim level if they didn’t think Bellamy wanted Jackson it would be strange to appoint them in the interimgandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 11:06 amThe club appointed jackson, maybe Bellamy approves of the new man

I would say a link for an assistant manager from Swedish league coming he in smacks the complete opposite of Bellamy getting the manager roleIanMcL wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 11:18 amAppointing an assistant manager and yet harping on about head coach, is just bizarre.

Re: Next manager
Think an “update” of some sort from the club would be appreciated.
Re: Next manager
The update would be something like ‘we are still working hard to appoint a new manager/head coach’. Pointless to say anything until it’s done imo.

That’s spot on - never worked together but Jensen replaced Rydstrom at Kalmar having previously replaced Bo Henriksen at Midtjylland.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 8:30 amExpress got it wrong
Rydstrom joined Malmo from Kalmar on 1st December 2022
Jensen joined kalmar from midtjylland on 28th December 2022
Nothing to say they don’t know each other from being in the same leagues and could work together but there are no direct links to them both

Do you think there's anything in these rumours of the Assistant Manager Tony? If so, would that suggest that the board have already identified their manager?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 11:46 amThat’s spot on - never worked together but Jensen replaced Rydstrom at Kalmar having previously replaced Bo Henriksen at Midtjylland.

Absolutely no way anyone would appoint an assistant without knowing who the head coach was. Or that any assistant would take such a post.

In that sense I don’t think we should try to become like Brighton, going for young managers that have t established themselves.
Theres a number of things we don’t have that Brighton do:
- we’re not an established premier league club anymore
- we don’t have a shiny new stadium
- we’re a small town in the north where the weather isn’t the best
- we haven’t yet established ourselves as a club that develops the best young talent and sells them on for huge profits (which will be appealing to agents as much as players)
Those things said I think a ‘big name’ is helpful to attract talent.
The Henriks would be interesting from a play style perspective but Ruud better to attract players.

It's beginning to look a lot like Bellamy.
Re: Next manager
I've heard we've approached Steve Cotterill and offered him a 2 month contract where his remit is to sell our unwanted players to Stoke for vastly inflated fees

Re: Next manager
I get the feeling that someone punditing at the euros or managing a team in the Olympics has been given the job and will be announced when their stint has finished.
I think the assistant manager appointment is to cover until the new manager is available.

Re: Next manager
Best thing the board can do is appoint someone that actually knows about English football and not American football.
Its looking like too many cooks at the moment.
Might end up with a YouTuber managing at this rate.

And why would he give up a job managing a professional football team, to be assistant cover manager for a month?

Probably because the new manager in waiting is known to him and wants him there to get acclimatised and give feedback.

Re: Next manager
I’m not doubting anyones theories or what they’ve heard as I know bugger all myself. I just find this whole process bizarre and I am trying to rationalise appointing an assistant manager before we get an actual manager/head coach. The logical conclusion is they’ve decided on Bellamy.

Re: Next manager
Thing with this theory (and I’d LOVE it to be Fabregas) is why not announce now pending joining after the Euros? No real need to keep it secret until then and it’s also likely help attract/retain players - and build some excitement amongst fans.

I just can’t see that Bellamy’s first choice would be a Dane from a Swedish club. Re: Next manager
Maybe it's someone at a club already, like Danny Rohl who is currently in Germany as a pundit.
Re: Next manager
We likely have appointed a new manager and we're now in the process of appointing his backroom staff. It could be as simple as he may not want the announcement to detract from his current role.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 1:21 pmI’m not doubting anyones theories or what they’ve heard as I know bugger all myself. you would think Kompany brought in top people and look at our injury record under him, it was very poorNewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 12:45 amNot at all.
I’m trying to be open minded here but a Fleetwood Performance coach is a worry too. I’d expect us to be looking at poaching guys from City/United, who’ve seen how things are done at the very highest level. Not scouring the lower leagues.
It’s also odd our new manager wouldn’t be selecting that role.
Jamie Vardy was signed from non league by Leicester.
Can't write people off because they've not been given an opportunity

Re: Next manager
It would be extremely underwhelming and strange that after so called list of 100 manager names we end up sticking with Bellamy and bringing a random danish manager from Swedish league as his number 2.
But this is ALK who appointed an estate agent as director of fan experience so anything is possible
