We don't want to be offloading Scott Twine keep him and see how he progresses then shift him in January if he doesn't progress
£4m has to he the minium to recoup our outlay and talk of a reduction is nonsense by Bristol

he's toss, 2 years at championship level is enough to judge he's not good enough.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 4:02 pmWe don't want to be offloading Scott Twine keep him and see how he progresses then shift him in January if he doesn't progress

Wow there is a player in there certainly at this level, first season most spent injured but did okay when he played for us. Last season did okay at Hull without being particularly good but did very well at Bristol presumably why the Club and there fans want him. whether he will be good enough for the Division above I can’t truly say until he plays there but he is a good enough player in this 1.

Agree entirely on this. We need to tell clubs chancing their arm for reduced fees to do one. Far better to find ways to give them a platform here & sell them after a good run for a higher price.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 4:02 pmWe don't want to be offloading Scott Twine keep him and see how he progresses then shift him in January if he doesn't progress

if he's toughened up a bit there is most definitely a player in there, very noticeable how he often plays a pass first time and doesn't take lots of touches.JarrowClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 4:41 pmWow there is a player in there certainly at this level, first season most spent injured but did okay when he played for us. Don’t know what anyone has seen in 2 seasons to say twine is anywhere near the level. I think he struggled to settle in the north to.
To me breaking even in twine would be the best outcome for both parties

I don't think Twine is good enough either.
Decent player in between the lines but way below the quality of the rest of most of the side. He'll be a decent player for Bristol I bet but if he doesn't feature much this year (and I don't see why he would) then this may be the last chance for us to get max value for him.

Good enough as a back up option, but honestly at this stage of his career not sure it’s best for anyone Twine staying this season.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
He’s done nothing to evidence he’s a top end Championship player, let alone a Prem player.
It would be the wrong decision to keep him as a squad player or send him out on loan for another year or two, when we can get good money now, instead of losing those years on his contract.

Our fans seem happy with a series of "OK players, or "there's a player in there somewhere". We have a squad load of these guys-Twine, McNally, Egan Riley, Obefomi, Churlinov, Delcroix, Bastian,Al-Dakhill and several more. They all need to be sold. We are not a charity

Not sure Al-Dakhil falls under that category. He fell on hard times last season , albeit being utilised in some strange roles by his manager. I think he could be very good with the right coaching

It was still kompany and Mooney who are the owners of MUD involved with the signings in the 22/23 seasonblatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 8:56 pmWasn’t mud who made this signing we didn’t use mud until the start of last season
But Maatsen had come off a good season at Coventry and Charlton so I’d be pretty worried if he wasn’t already on our scouting radar at the time

No way you can class Berge as a mud signing, he’s been in England for seasons now he will have been on the scouting radar long before MUD got involved. Hardly takes mud analytics to scout Nathan Redmondblatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 9:41 pmBar sander and esteve I’d say Muds signings last season were absolutely terrible

I think all players signed will have been used by the same analytical process tbh.
Amdouni just missed an absolute sitter as a type. Shame we could have got a few million more for that if he bagged

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
That’s because they were all signed at a time we basically needed to replace about 15 outgoing players and we didn’t have the money to replace them with premier league quality players. To be honest, I’d say we never have had the money to buy any premier league quality players who seem to start at £25m now.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 6:52 pmOur fans seem happy with a series of "OK players, or "there's a player in there somewhere". I would argue that all of the above are very decent players. Did you hear the Belgium manager saying how bad it was for them that AAD was injured, for example? Obafemi gets in the Irish national team. McNally got in two Championship teams and played every game. Twine was also wanted by two decent Championship teams and played when fit as a general rule. Delcroix certainly had very decent games in the premier league when he played last season (e.g. Spurs).
Are they top level premier league players, no. Will they ever be, probably not. Would they get in any other Championship team (or the vast, vast majority) - absolutely yes.
If we ever get out of this league and stay in the premier league we’ll be able to sell this type of player and replace them with premier league quality players. Until then, most likely not because we won’t be able to replace them with better either in terms of attracting better or affording them.

Agree in part, however just feel the lad has talent in abundance but has had a rough couple of years injury wise. I think a solid season under a manager that trusts him ( and he seems an honest hardworking lad) would see us double our money on him.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 6:51 pmHe’s done nothing to evidence he’s a top end Championship player, let alone a Prem player.

Time will be the judge. I don't mind being wrong, just hope for his sake I'm right.

Harsh to include Al-Dakhil - looked like a very promising CB, something the Belgian national team coach could clearly see too. Had a baptism of fire last season played out of position against top opposition. Hope we keep him.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 6:52 pmOur fans seem happy with a series of "OK players, or "there's a player in there somewhere". Spot on re Al Dakiel he looks a decent player
We need our manager in before we make any rash clearance decisions

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
what has he done to deserve keeping? he was given chances in the promotion year and was fairly poor in all those appearances, he's gone out on loan and not ripped up any trees. £4m sale would be great after 2 years.
we really dont need him in our squad, wish him the best, but not at Burnley.

Looks like Olise is leaving Palace to play for Kompany at Bayern
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Olise was wanted by Chelsea but after speaking to Kompany, he's chosen Bayern.
So that's the boards of Brighton, Spurs, Chelsea, Bayern and one of Europe's brightest prospects in Olise who all think Kompany is a decent manager...

The interesting things about Olise are firstly that he had 2 bad hamstring injuries this season, so a big risk, one we have seen Vinny take before with injury prone wingers, and secondly that 2 years ago he had less minutes and fewer PL goals than Wilson Odobert and he was still older then than Wilson is now.
Just shows to me how good Wilson could be.

Desperate to keep him. Very good chance he tears the championship to ribbons. Absolutely no sense in selling him atm because I think he's one who'll end up in the champions league eventuallyCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 10:15 pmThe interesting things about Olise are firstly that he had 2 bad hamstring injuries this season, so a big risk, one we have seen Vinny take before with injury prone wingers, and secondly that 2 years ago he had less minutes and fewer PL goals than Wilson Odobert and he was still older then than Wilson is now.

Looks like we've signed Kamarni Ryan, 18 year old winger/attacking midfielder who's been released by Arsenal. I believe he was a trialist for our U21s at the backed end of last season.

I honestly don't think we've actually made many bad signings in their own right ie the quality of the player. Some of them were just the wrong ones at the wrong time, misspent where we needed strength elsewhere, or realistically ones that were always going to take 2 or 3 years to come to fruition. The balance of the squad is awful but the quality isn't

Brighton, Spurs and Chelsea didn't appoint VK so maybe after speaking to him they realised he was a dud.

Burnley, Preston North End and Coventry City all want to sign RWD Molenbeek wing-back Ilay Camara, according to reports from journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The 21-year-old impressed for Belgian Pro League outfit RWD Molenbeek despite their relegation, and the ex-Anderlecht product is said to be open to a move to the Championship.
The youngster registered three goals and seven assists in 31 appearances last season, and it's reported that it will cost between £1.5million to £2million to sign him this summer.

Find this the most agreeable post on here and most aligned to my views I’ve read in what feels like a year.willsclarets wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 7:54 amI honestly don't think we've actually made many bad signings in their own right ie the quality of the player. If we get a crack at the premier league again I hope we approach the recruitment with more balance and more experience, but I also hope whatever system MUD/Kompany were using to identify young talent is going to continue.

3 Premier League clubs spending big money on each other's untried kids just before the season accounting deadline of June 30 so they can register immediate profit of sale while spreading the expenditure of outgoings in several installments...................nothing to see here lads
