The whole ‘Bellamy knows the club’ argument is a crazy reason for anyone to think he would be a good appointment
I've known the club for decades.
Can I be considered please?

This thread has now reached peak UTC with the suggestion that Bellamy would be a fine appointment on the basis that someone on this board could get the club promoted.

He also knows the players, what it takes to win the championship, what went so well in that first season and hopefully what went so badly last season.
Not sure why I feel so compelled to defend him. Starting to talk myself into thinking he'd be a decent appointment
Think I'd still go for RVN before him though.
Again knowing the players and the players liking him because he’s the assistant and not the one making decisions it’s completely different to if he has to pick a starting 11. Suddenly one of the players who liked Bellamy isn’t being picked they then don’t like him.
Knowing what worked in the championship 2 seasons ago doesn’t mean it will this time

I’m throwing this into the mix.
Are they making another film/tv series “Mission to Burnley 2”? All this mystery, number of candidates, silence and suspense plus the Chairman jetting off suddenly to meet a former/current employee. All the drama of Kompany’s exodus + the huge German club that he’s gone to.
All good for tv viewing and the associated tv income.
Just a thought.
Forgot to add that this sort of thing happens in the American media all the time.

If you were appointed I'd have full confidence in you.
As an aside have you played professionally both for club and country, got coaching badges and have been employed in such a role ?

Everyone talks about the second half at Chelsea and home game against Brighton as a reason why we would be ok under Bellamy but the performance he managed against Arsenal was absolutely terrible. Some of the worst defending all season

Gut feeling is that Bellamy would be a disaster. No managerial experience and has struggled with his mental health, rumours on here he was only working 3 days a week at times last year? Don't think its the time for such a massive gamble.

We won’t be playing teams anywhere near the quality of Brighton or Arsenal next year.

There’s still performance levels and the level against Arsenal was absolutely shocking, you can be beat by a quality time but at least show something and we didn’t at all

If media reports are to be" believed " why on earth are we bothering waiting for RVN to make his mind up .In terms of ability and record he is largely an untried and unproven candidate for the job.
The season is fast approaching we have recruited a new assistant head coach . The decision for that apparently being made before the departure of Kompany.
Whilst RVN is obviously entitled to look at every option , indecision doesnt do Burnley any favours .
Time for the club to be the drivers not the followers.

Bellamy being considered for Wales job.
Personally think that would suit him more than club management . Not int he limelight as much being questioned every other day etc etc . The mental health side of it would be much more beneficial for him.
I don’t think it would be sensible for us to appoint him.

Every player bought has an element of risk about it as has every manager appointed. A Craig Bellamy appointment for me would increase a risk of failure. Not a good start after some of last season's shambolic performances.

It’ll be rvn awaiting the outcome of his interview (s), pre-season only starts next week, an appointment seems imminent and we haven’t employed an assistant head coach (assistant first team coach) but spot on otherwise

Why oh why would you want Jackson as manger?
His record is really poor as a number 1. I understand he gave us a little bounce, possibly showed some loyalty to the club (I don’t know if Dyche or Kompany wanted to take him with them) and came across well in interviews, but that’s not enough on the back of his previous record to want him as a manger surely.

I, as I said, always suspected that we’d end up starting the season with Bellamy and Jackson in charge.
Of the two, I see Jackson more as a manager and Bellamy as his sidekick
That’s all

As you say pre -season starts next week . The season 7 weeks today and as yet we are rudderless in terms of any direction the new manager may wish to take us .
You are quite correct on the title of assistant first team coach .
For that I stand corrected .
Let's all just drift along in the knowledge that we are the biggest club in the division just accepting promotion when it duly arrives

We shouldn’t be waiting, that’s the point. If he’s been offered the job and he can’t make an instant decision we should move on, his hearts obviously not in it. If we intend to come straight back up we need an experienced Manager and from those I’ve seen linked and although he’s not the one I was keen on originally the more I think about it the best candidate looks like Corberan.

1. The appointment of VK took its time
2. You have no idea if his heart is in it or not
3. We do not need an experienced manager to come straight back up, we didn’t last time.
4. Corberan does not have the greatest record

We have interim management and considerable coaching and physio staff etc.. employed.
The original timescale to recruit and appoint a new head coach was the end of June and it looks like that’ll be met.
Not an appointment to be rushed and the new incumbent will have plenty of time to get things set and the interim management to keep things tidy until that happens.

I'm sure everything will be come clearer after Monday.
What this board does show is that most of those who claim to be 'in the know' really know nothing, and far too many people hang on the word of Alan Nixon etc.
There's also lots of people getting in a panic and a tizzy about something they can't control, sit back and relax people, nothing you say or do will change the outcome

When Jimmy Mullen was sacked were fans in the pub saying I really hope we give the job to Clive Middlemass and Harry Wilson?
It’s like some weird comfort blanket some posters need giving the job to someone for the sole reason they are already at the club despite having pretty much zero experience as a manager.

I thought for a while Bellamy may make sense, re continuity but having thought more of it I think it'd do the club a world of good to completely move on from any remnants of the prior regime and to take a fresh start with a new man.

How on earth do you know how much money we have to spend?
I didn't say I did

. Go and read my post again. Even you must get the gist of it. However, I'll spell it outfor the hard of thought.
I said appointing CB would likely to be a reflection on the state of our finances - the cheap option.

The initial desire for Moyes was dampened when he told somebody in Lytham that it wasn't to be. There was a huge backlash when Frank Lampard looked to be favourite. Although Lampard's intellect was defended when it came to light that he had a degree in Latin. There was a debate about Benson and Blake. Scott Parker wasn't fancied based on his personality. Bellamy has always looked possible , but could Wales be calling. The appointment of Henrik Jensen led to a world wide search for a link between himself and Youl Mawene. JJs Jet.Every man and his dog has been mentioned, but in terms of excitement- I've only really got that when Ruud Van Nistelrooy looked possible..

I’ll reiterate
I don’t want Jackson as head coach
I don’t want Bellamy as head coach
BUT
IF
as I’ve been saying for a while, I think we may end up settling for theJackson Bellamy combo
I see it as Jackson and then Bellamy
Not Bellamy above Jackson
That’s all
It would be underwhelming either way but I just don’t see it the same way round as it seems to be being suggested

It does need to start moving relatively soon if it is to be a foreign manager, you can't buy a work permit from the corner shop and it's unlikely they could get one within a few days !

Craig Bellamy, former Premier League goalscorer and Welsh International listening to Mike Jackson.
No, sorry, just can't see that happening.

Don't forget Pardew

Gut feeling is that Bellamy would be a disaster. No managerial experience and has struggled with his mental health, rumours on here he was only working 3 days a week at times last year? Don't think its the time for such a massive gamble.
I am pretty sure that if his mental health was an issue, he was working 3 days a week or a proportion of the team disliked him, Alan would have become aware of that in the two years he’s worked at the club and factor it in to the decision.
If he were chosen you’d have to assume it’s internet rumours/nonsense.

I’ll reiterate
I don’t want Jackson as head coach
I don’t want Bellamy as head coach
BUT
IF
as I’ve been saying for a while, I think we may end up settling for theJackson Bellamy combo
I see it as Jackson and then Bellamy
Not Bellamy above Jackson
That’s all
It would be underwhelming either way but I just don’t see it the same way round as it seems to be being suggested
Given Pace and Co want to grow our international appeal I would be staggered if we end up with Bellamy and Jackson

This is a good point and may explain the process and time they’re taking. I really hope we get to see this process from the inside either in MtB2 or 3.

I agree. Hard to underestimate how big United are abroad. Much bigger than City. Signing someone like RVN would surely bring a whole load of attention to the club we’ve not had before.
