Re: Next manager
From Birmingham World (whatever that is)
Burnley are still searching for a new head coach following the departure of Vincent Kompany to Bayern Munich and Corberan, despite being happy at West Brom, cannot be ruled out.
The Clarets have been in advanced talks with ex-Netherlands international striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has been unemployed since leaving the managerial post at PSV Eindhoven at the end of the 2022/23 season. An update on that front could squander Burnley’s chances, however, meaning other targets may have to be considered instead.
Respected transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano reports van Nistelrooy has been approached by his former club, Manchester United, to join Erik ten Hag’s new-look coaching staff. The decision is in the 47-year-old’s hands as an offer is said to already be on the table from Burnley.
West Brom will be hoping van Nistelrooy decides to take the job at Turf Moor rather than Old Trafford. As reported by Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri last week, Corberan is among three candidates for the Burnley job, with van Nistelrooy and an unnamed contender the other two.
If van Nistelrooy rejects the Clarets post and the Belgian reports are to be believed, Corberan will be under serious consideration to succeed Kompany. Albion remain hopeful the Spaniard will stay at The Hawthorns but Burnley would offer a clear upward step.
Having been recently relegated from the Premier League, the Lancashire outfit would likely push for automatic promotion straight away. West Brom, meanwhile, are set to target play-off football once again but transfer funds are severely limited to make that objective a reality.

Re: Next manager
Dutch newspaper AD is reporting Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to return to Manchester United as an assistant manager to Erik ten Hag.
The Dutch coach has been linked with multiple managerial positions in recent months, and last week there were claims he was set to join Burnley.
That was quickly dismissed by the same newspaper group which is bringing these claims. AD say negotiations are ongoing but they sound very confident that this is a sure thing and the former striker will be back at Old Trafford soon.
Ten Hag is then expected to be given an extension on his contract, and will work with Ruud van Nistelrooy in the long term.
Presumably, the Dutchman will be assisting with attack and it can only be good for youngsters coming through art the club. The obvious beneficiary is Rasmus Hojlund, and the Denmark international is likely to be thrilled with the news.

Stop it everyone, there’s no ball been dropped and we haven’t been pipped at the post by Utd or anyone else. If Pace and the board wanted RVN he’d have been appointed by now. All this rubbish is being pedalled from the RVN camp and the media are falling for it. He was a person of interest, who we've likely spoken to as with many other managers throughout this recruitment process. As soon as his team leaked it that was probably curtains on his Burnley managerial chances.

It is entirely possible that RVN was not our first choice and he’s been in talks with Utd for a while. Bit of planting/exaggerating our interest might sped things up at the United end.
Afterall, there wasn’t many serious journalists reporting RVN as our favoured candidate. Just two agent-friendly twitter personalities.

Re: Next manager
People can pretend we have it all in hand all they want - the players are back today and being coached by Michael Jackson and Craig Bellamy. What on Earth are they thinking one wonders? A gigantic squad full of players, a third of which have been farmed out here, there and everywhere on loan over the last 6-12 months. We are absolutely rudderless currently and Kompany has been gone a month.
A manager is a desperate, desperate requirement just due to the sheer volume of work that there is to be completed. We have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes but on the face of it we’ve been possibly led a merry dance by Van Nistelrooy and seem no closer to an appointment than we were when Kompany bailed.

Re: Next manager
Whatever is going on with RVN , I would imagine a player of his profile like Kompany , if he is successful this season would have plenty of clubs trying to entice him away for next season. Which as long as we won promotion I wouldn’t think would be a big problem, but not what you want.
Hopefully this clears the way for Coberan who IMO is less of a risk and would much more likely provide us with continuity if we won promotion.

Corberan would be excellent but would surely need compensation agreeing etc which may make it a longer process.

Corberan apparently (according to the Athletic) has a £4m release clause, which I can’t see us paying when other options like Bellamy and Parker are free.
