People can pretend we have it all in hand all they want - the players are back today and being coached by Michael Jackson and Craig Bellamy. What on Earth are they thinking one wonders? A gigantic squad full of players, a third of which have been farmed out here, there and everywhere on loan over the last 6-12 months. We are absolutely rudderless currently and Kompany has been gone a month.

A manager is a desperate, desperate requirement just due to the sheer volume of work that there is to be completed. We have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes but on the face of it we’ve been possibly led a merry dance by Van Nistelrooy and seem no closer to an appointment than we were when Kompany bailed.
Totally agree with this. After the way last season panned out, the start of this campaign needs a full reset, rousing of the players, motivation as to what lies ahead, "let's get ready to roll" style rallying call. Of course the new manager can still do all that whenever appointed but the more time passes, and the more the after-effects of last season linger, the harder it's going to be turn the tanker round.

We have no real idea what's happening with the search, but I fervently hope Pace et al have a sense of urgency and aren't being distracted by devising new structures and roles at the cost of getting the manager/head coach/whatever actually in the building.

Corberan apparently (according to the Athletic) has a £4m release clause, which I can’t see us paying when other options like Bellamy and Parker are free.
Tend to agree, sadly.

I hope we move onto Corberan pdq, if the Ruud to United story is true.
If so, we've escaped him. We need someone who is going to commit to us for a time.

Corberan for me but when the random link to Tudor came about, his style interested me but he doesn’t stick around at places for long

One thing Pace cannot be accused of is always taking the cheap option.

He is also quite cunning. Wrecking the hopes of one of the top six favourites could be a clever move, it could get to the point where I only see Leeds as a title threat apart from us.

On the unrelated RVN issue, one thing these superstars now appear keen to do is get out of Burnley ASAP - big risk pursuing this model. I prefer the Corberan model.

I've no idea if RVN is/was a serious candidate, however:

Ten Hag was a dead man walking at Utd at the back end of last season and even winning the FA didn't guarantee his future there. The job appeared to be touted all over (including Southgate, if the press is to be believed), but nobody was seriously interested. Fast forward Ten Hag gets a contract extension.

Ratcliffe seemingly pulling the strings at Utd and a RVN fan (remind you of anyone - AP/VK), and maybe appoints RVN, so as soon as Ten Hag gets the bullet after a few dodgy results in mid-season RVN as the Assistant Manager and Ratcliffe favourite would be in prime position to be MUFC Manager.

Pure speculation of course.

Depends if they solely look at the financial impact in there here and now.

4 million no, and a better chance of another season of premier league income, or a freebie now, and a worse chance of another season of premier league income.

Unless it’s a ridiculous amount, compensation should be low down on the list of concerns, if they think that they’ve found the right candidate to take us back up.

So the, as yet, unnamed option may well be alive and kicking.
If that proves to be the eventual outcome then I rather suspect the said individual has more involvement in what is transpiring behind the scenes than most of us are aware of.

In which case he (or she) will be in regular contact with Bellamy and our other coaches discussing pre season training plans and also with the BOD in relation to outgoing and incoming players .

All we need to do is sit back, relax and watch events unwind. I’m looking forward to an eventful new season

I dunno, just thought that he made have had a bit of a head towards the future and maybe wanting to work here (the UK) when he's retired. Was it Carlo Cudicini that sorted himself one out when he was eligible? Possibly a few more might. Im only speculating, was just a thought but probably irrelevant now if he is going to United

Absolutely no idea if Suntan is genuine or not but if RVN doesn’t happen, those saying it would aren’t by default proven to be peddling false info. Things change like in real world recruitment, people get counter offers, more than one off or simply change their mind.

It appeared that RVN was going to be our manager but seemed to have had his head turned at the last minute by another offer. These things happen

We’re employing interim management and a hell of a lot of coaches/physios to cover things whilst the best person is found. Our international players won’t be back for a couple of weeks and I’m sure cb/mj and team can handle the initial pre-season which is generally fitness work.

Things take time. Wouldn’t say the board have dropped the ball on this at all (not sure what other balls they’ve dropped either). An appointment feels imminent.

We know next to zero for fact apart from we’ve had the promise that no corners will be cut to find the right fit for us.

With all due respect to everyone on this post .
It’s like I said on my original post it’s time for the club to take charge of the situation , if RVN is undecided then it’s time for the club to take the choice out of his hands .
I would give it to Craig Bellamy for continuity .

Some managers don’t work as well when given money to spend. In my opinion, if someone is happy with coberan, they can’t be unhappy with Parker or Lampard, as their records are better, for the record I don’t want either.

The process is the process. I think it probably has dragged on a little longer than we'd have liked but what can we do?

I also wonder if the RVN stuff is his agent trying to force Burnley's hand. It might be that he does fancy United now but that's football.

Pre-season starts next week (I think) so having Bellamy and Jackson in the building looks a decent move to be fair.

'Remind you of anyone?' Yes, your scenario reminds me of a certain football club that was ten years ahead of us and are currently in League One.

If it isn't RVN, then let's hope whoever it is wants an assistant manager not of their choosing. I suspect it will be Bellamy.
This.

With all due respect to everyone on this post .
It’s like I said on my original post it’s time for the club to take charge of the situation , if RVN is undecided then it’s time for the club to take the choice out of his hands .
I would give it to Craig Bellamy for continuity .
Quite glad you’re not on the board.

I really don't get the fascination for Corberan. What has he achieved?

£4m then the rest of the £6m paid to him in 6 months time when have to sack him,
Four years in the Championship. His last three have been very good given the limitations placed on him by the two clubs he’s been at.

I’d also be happy with Corberan. With a stronger squad I’d be confident he’d take us back up.
